DJ is telling the truth! De La Salle was a college program. Oregon as High School. Many greats came out of De La Salle Imani Toomer, Maurice Jones Drew, DJ Williams. Very discipline players. Let the man explain he is saying this is the direction the NFL is going for players from programs that are great listeners and coachable.

I agree with B Marshall. I understand reaching contentment with the person you've become because of your trials and tribulations, but that doesn't change the fact that your coping mechanisms may indeed have stunted your true growth.

Some ppl have more physical abilities than others so they can get by. But if you talking about maximizing your full potential as an athlete I got to agree with Marsh. It’s a different switch when it comes to the elite of the elite. I never cared much about it growing up but seeing my 14 yo nephew be a strict vegetarian for 2 yrs cause his dream is to play for Nick Saban, you see the levels to dedication.

I agree with Brandon in that the more focused and better prepared one is in a comprehensive manner, the likely better one will be, even when one is already very good. If Shady McCoy had been better conditioned, he'd have been a better player yet, as good as he indeed was. He was certainly a good player, but he in retrospect, he could have been a Hall of Famer...

Y’all fumbled this discussion for the viewers a bit and the health topic needs to be unpacked more. But put simply, diets/lifestyles/community don’t make you a better or worse “elite” athlete when your young and fresh. But as you age, with wear and tear, your body needs that help for recovery and longevity.. and that’s where the gains/losses happen between “elite” athletes who have good and bad diets/lifestyles/community. I still rock with y’all and will keep tuning in, but we need more science folks on the show.

When I look at what Shannon Sharpe did, coming from Glenville, GA, I can imagine what he had to eat to survive. As he grew to college and the NFL, his nutrition and training habits improved tremendously. He passed them to Ray Lewis. They're in the Hall of Fame. Tom Brady created TB12. There's something to be said for the correlation between how an athlete treats his body and his performance (or lack thereof) on game day.
Even Bruce Smith had to change the way he ate and trained. He ballooned to 315 before trimming himself to a playing weight of 270 @ 6% bodyfat. He knew buffalo wings and pizza weren't gonna get him to Canton. He was probably the best conditioned athlete to play the DE position. This really boils down to an athlete's driving force and habits. It's your habits that will serve you or become your master. Driving Force and habits are the critical component's in determining the success or failure of an athlete at any level.

I think the term DJ was looking for is self care. Though his form a self care could be seen as distracting or counter productive to an extent, some form of self care is needed to continue to enjoy your what you do long term.

D.J. Williams makes since with the programs coming from high school on up. Not every school had that type of program especially for inner city schools
Can't compare inner city schools or any public school to a private school.
It's like comparing any major conference school to a university that can only form a team with people that live in the same town as the university.
Going back and looking at DJs career he deserves more respect. Lot of really good players don't make a pro bowl. He got hated on cus of his legal problems. Integral part of the show

This all boils down to ,your ability to bring in income is your biggest asset, not investing or stashing money away everything else is purely risk but by being prepared and having a plan you can mediate your potential loss for such risk. You gotta remember your not where you are today because of what happened yesterday but because what’s been happening for the past 3-5 years .
if you’re a first round pick or even top 10-15 , just creating something small like a Graphic Tee with your likeness for $25 can be a start to passive income.
