It's really criminal not to talk about Mainoo's performance cause he was simply the best player on the pitch. He constantly showed for the ball and combined well with other players.

yes he was available to break the lines, which we've done like 2 times in four games and he played first time passes and moved.... it's Bellingham or foden and Watkins on the left going in behind with Bellingham if kane drops

He was good but really Rice was the best player- check his stats. He was alone in protecting the defence so many times. If he had played badly we would have lost before the 95th minute.

I can see what Southgate is trying to do but what he's trying to do doesn't work unless you have a top class left back like Andy Robertson there. With what we have, Gordon is the only answer. Gordon makes a right footed left back better, he makes anyone trying to switch the play better. It's a no brainer... unless you're Southgate.

@@abdullahibnmiah2986 well yes, that's what subs do. They play against tired legs. If you start Palmer and sub Saka, Saka will be the one running around against "tired legs." Dumb point.
He hasn't scored or assisted, but he also didn't play a minute of the first 2 games and only got subbed on in the last 2. Again, Saka's the guy who's started every game at RW and he hasn't scored. His only "assist" was a deflection which I'm not even sure they officially count.
No offence, but you seem biased. Palmer's not really played enough to be expected to score or assist. But the game's opened up both times he's come on because he's always looking to play forwards. That's why people want him to start. Combine that with his form this season and the fact we know he's a great finisher, and it's a no brainer.
Hold all the other players to the sane standard you're holding Palmer to. It's okay for them to play mid, not score, not create much etc, but if Palmer doesn't score in less minutes then he doesn't deserve a chance.

Imo Cole Palmer doesn't have to start. Go to a 352 (3412)...
    Pickford
Walker, Stones and Konsa - CB's
    Saka - LWB
    Trent - RWB
    Mainoo and Rice - CM's
    Jude - CAM
    Toney and Kane - Strikers
I think it's at the point now where Kane could benefit from having someone up top with him, as the wingers aren't working to his strengths. Saka is a naturally born left footer and started in the left wing back role at Arsenal, so can play there. We have the balanace in midfield with Mainoo and Rice, with Bellingham even avalible to step in there if rice goes forward. Plus the two wing backs who will be forward when attacking, but the three CB's can cover if they get caught in possession and can't get back in time.
A few things I have to see for Saturday is Trippier or Foden not on the left, it isn't working. Both want to cut in field all the time, that is easy to defend. Plus I think its criminal that Trent, our best creative asset is not in this side. Play him in his natual RB position and he will thrive. This new formation would be a risk, but it is a risk we need to take as it's not clicking, and a few tweaks here and there won't make it click.

we need right footed players on the right and left footed players on the left (Foden doesn't count as he always wants to go through the centre). we run down the wing and ALWAYS cut back in. defenders can see this. no one runs to the by line to cross the 6 yard box. there's never anything threatening as we always play backwards.

Excellent video. There will be changes I am sure for Saturday. I think England will beat the Swiss. Also quiz needs to improve. The Sommer question was confusing and Southgate has taken charge of 99 games not 100. The Switzerland take is his 100th. Great achievement. People expecting a little of Palmer. A bit too much in my opinion. Still a great option to bring in. Gordon needs to be involved more.

Go back to basics, remember to hold and give, but do it at the right time, you can be slow or fast, but you must get to the line, they'll always hit you and hurt you, defend and attack, there's only one way to beat them, get 'round the back. Come on England!

The biggest problem we have is that our back four are doing too much passing to each other. If they cut that out and a rule was made. If it doesn’t work the first time hit it long we would be way more dangerous. When we get it forward we look dangerous but we never get it forward we have the defenders pass it round the back till everyone’s bored to death. That’s why rice and maino come soo deep to get it. Even Foden and Bellingham had to come back because Walker wants to keep it between him stones and trippier. Teams are still scared of us but we keep the ball in our weakest point AT THE BACK. We’re defensively so fragile but there the ones keeping the ball

All Southgate has to do is change formation, to a 4-3-3,,,he has the players with the talent to do damage in games ,but he uses this formation to defend and he smothers the life , talent out of the group of players, , the performances have shown him his tactics are not working ,,, it's the individual talent of players that have got us this far in the competition not his management or tactics or formation,,,,,, So why doesn't he change , for me the reason is because he doesn't want to lose , he sets the team up to not to lose instead of trying to win ,,,,, now against the swiss we will be given a hard test , and I think we will put in a good performance, and everyone will forget about these bad games , games we should hav won anyway even the knockout games have gone in our favour

England should play 4-4-2 v the swiss' 3-4-3 . england's 4-1-4-1 is ineffective because the 1 up front is always gonna be isolated with no support and the ball not reaching him in areas where he can be effective. especially when no crosses coming in from the left because the left (wing) back is right footed. long accurate crosses into the box for him to feed on are hit and miss at the best of times so service is/was scarce for him, and feels he has to come deep for some action. Up until the point when saka went to left back and Ivan Toney came on did it look like we had an attacking force. so yeah foden and trippier do not start that has not worked.
