I am just finding out that this beautiful man has passed on. How I missed this terrible news I will never know RIP Mr. Chuck Jackson one of the GREATEST baritone singers EVER!!! You and your BEAUTIFUL voice are singing in The Lord’s Heavenly Choir. Thank you for sharing your God given talent with the world!! May you rest in Eternal Glory sir.😢👏🏾❤️💐🌻🪷🌷🌼🌸💮🌹💐🙏🏾
One of the most pure voices the good Lord ever created. He's top 5 all time imo. He was/is not well known by the masses but he should be. Ask a million boomers if they've heard ever of this song and a million will say "of course!". Then ask those million who sang it, and I bet less than 5% will know. And that sucks because he was a rare talent at the mic.
Oh believe me I am well aware of Chuck Jackson and this song. No one could sing it the way he did. It’s been a favorite of mine since I first heard it in 1962.
I just love this song, this was one of my Mom favorites. I was the youngest of three children my Mom had, I was the one who sat and listen to old songs like this one.
One of the most beautiful soul songs I have ever had the pleasure to have owned on vinyl still brings a tear to my eye God bless see you at the gate KTF
Oh so more than beautiful--the singer, the music, the words. Makes me cry how emotional and extraordinary this performance is by Chuck Jackson. Burt Bacharach and Bob Hilliard wrote this gem and that is Burt, at the beginning, introducing Chuck and playing keyboard. LOVE.
Nice to see the introduction by the keyboardist/host, adds that but more interest, boy is this a great song, Chuck's original version was hard for anyone to try to cover, Elvis did some excellent alternative takes and it's one my favourite all time songs, this live version is priceless, appreciate you sharing, fantastic video 👌👌👌
The keyboardist/host is Burt Bacharach. He wrote the song and is regarded as one of the finest and recorded songwriters in American music. His songs are classic, just like this one.
@@richhowify hi howiffy, thankyou for the info, arh yes I know Burt Bacharach but not so much on visual, I'm a big Gene Pitney fan so know they worked on songs, as well as knowing Burt wrote some amazing songs, I appreciate your replying, it's great to know who it is in the video now 👍👍👍

And here we are just days after Burt Bacharach's passing, and now there is News that The Great Chuck Jackson has passed! Very sad time, having lost these 2 Great Musical Talents just days apart!!
Loved his tunes from 13yrs. old .. saw him LIVE at Morecambe Pier All-Niter ... unbelievable!! sometime early 80's // voice still on key! What a fabulous man and singer.
I never knew this was the original version. I've been a fan of this song for so long ( Ronnie Milsap etc.) and I think this one is the best of them all. I'm sorry it took me so long to find you Chuck Jackson!
How I hated what Ronnie Milsap did with this song. Every time I heard his version I immediately changed the radio station. Why do a cover if you can’t do it half as well as the original. In fact why bother at all.
Chuck Jackson expresses the deepest understanding of a man who is about to be abandoned and rejected. The "sad surprise" phrase is an inconsistency, but everything else in the lyrics is nearly perfect. Chuck`s sensitivity and anguish are a million miles away and above the violence and crudity of the rappers and hip hoppers of today.
probably the best song burt (and bob hilliard) ever wrote. i got to see chuck perform this in the early 60s. RIP burt bacharach and thanks for the great music. and now RIP to chuck jackson..his incredible voice such a large part of our teenage years.
I ran into Burt Bacharach on a crosstown bus on 57th St., in NYC 50 yrs ago. He was escorting a pretty, young woman as far as Madison Avenue, where he said a quiet goodbye and got off. I saw BB on a PBS promotional, fund-raising show 4 days ago & discovered this electrifying 1966 debut performance by the young Vocalist, Chuck Jackson: Perfection!
RIP Mr. Jackson. Your first hit "I Don't Want To Cry" hooked me on your musical train and I had played your music hundreds of times. Lone but not forgotten.
One of Burt Bacharach's hits before he teamed up with Hal David. He knew so much about writing a melody that would highlight a singer's strengths, and Chuck Jackson had both great high notes ("to my sad surprise", "all over town", etc.) and low notes ("begging you to stay'). It's a shame Jackson wasn't a household name.
R&B singer Chuck Jackson, who placed nearly 30 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the 1960s, died on Feb. 16, 2023 at the age of 85. Jackson was born July 22, 1937, in Winston-Salem, N.C., spent his boyhood in Latta, S.C., then settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., at age 13. Best known for his 1962 hit “Any Day Now (My Wild Beautiful Bird),” which reached #2 on the trade magazine’s R&B chart and #23 on the Hot 100. Jackson’s other popular hits included “I Don’t Want to Cry,” his first chart placement, from 1961 (#5 R&B); “I Keep Forgettin’,” a 1962 hit written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller; and “Something You Got,” a duet with Maxine Brown that peaked at #10 on the R&B chart. Chuck was inducted into the R&B Hall of Fame, and won a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. As of now, 20 February 2023, neither the cause nor place of death have yet been revealed..
This is the best version, but if you hear Elvis FTD version with basic instruments, not the commercialized version but the studio cut, Elvis voice is incredible in its purity , proving one of the most soulful artists ever. Chuck would be proud.
Any day now I will hear you say "Goodbye, my love" And you'll be on your way Then my wild beautiful bird, you will have flown, oh Any day now I'll be all alone, whoa-oa-oa-oa-oa Any day now, when your restless eyes meet someone new Oh, to my sad surprise Then the blue shadows will fall all over town, oh Any day now love will let me down, whoa-oa-oa-oa-oa Oh my wild beautiful bird, you will have flown, oh Any day now I'll be all alone I know I shouldn't want to keep you If you don't want to stay-ay Until you go forever I'll be holding on for dear life Holding you this way Begging you to stay Any day now when the clock strikes "Go" You'll call it off And then my tears will flow Then the blue shadows will fall all over town, oh Any day now love will let me down 'cause you won't be around Don't fly away, my beautiful bird Don't, don't fly away
Any Day Now Was Written By Burt Bacharach and Bob Hilliard and was first recorded by Chuck Jackson who released the song in May 1962, peaking at #23 on pop chart and #2 on R&B chart.
