Chuck Jackson, “Fantastic Performer, Powerful Voice, One of The Best.”
You didn't mention, " Any Day Now," his biggest hit.
Yep I remember that song any day now Chuck Jackson.
Yes - that's the only one I remember - great record!
Maybe as many of his others were not released in the UK 🤔
He was sosososo underrated
Nice
Did I miss in this video my favorite Chuck Jackson song, Any Day Now?
He was sosososo unique
I have his first Motown LP, treasured for forty years
HAND IT OVER is one of my all time favourites, I can't help myself hitting the dance floor as soon as I hear those first bars .
RIP Chuck Jackson 👏🙏
"Hand It Over" is also my favorite song since the 70's".. I'm 65 now and I still love it... greetings from Belgium
Singer Chuck Jackson Biggest Song ever, Was Any Day Now. Which was my Personal Favorite. Mr. Jackson had a Ballard Smooth Voice. Finding the right material is very hard in the Music Industry. He should have been up there with The Greatest. RIP ALWAYS Mr. Jackson, Great Video 📷📷📸❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your fine tribute to Mr. Jackson! Perhaps he did not achieve the general popularity status of some of his counterparts, but those who knew his music truly understood his outstanding contributions and how talented he really was. His first cousin who grew up with him in the south lives here in Michigan and always refers to him by his given name Charles. 😉
Chuck Jackson came to Pittsburgh in the early 1950s. He wrote the song will that for his girlfriend. He also the 19 60 went to the Apollo Theater Jackie Wilson truly gave him his start wanting him to be a single artist. I met him in 1966. He found out I was his friend Joe Parker's sister I was so thrilled to have him pick me up and swing me around Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh gave him a proclamation. His best friend George Benson got a proclamation also that year on that day. Breast with God my brother Jackie Chuck Jackson❤❤❤❤❤
I met his children and they were all down to earth despite having a famous Father
I have never heard of him… but I do remember hearing daddy’s home, but it was probably a remake. Last few videos you have put me on to people I’ve never heard of. Keep up the great work!!!
If you’re interested , there was a GREAT doo wop song called, You’re a Thousand Miles Away by The Heartbeats. The lead singer was Shep who left them and formed Shep and the Limelights (I’m not 100%sure of the group’s name).Check them both out. You’ll see it’s the same lead singer
@@williesayulita ok thank you.
Yes, originally it was: Shep & The Limelighters, but Shep had to change this as there was another group named The Limlighters, a famous Folk Music group ~@@williesayulita
Thank You, Thank you, Thank you.... I asked you to cover Chuck a few months ago. I did not know he sang with the Del Vikings. I first heard his voice when he sang "Any Day Now" and " IDon't Want To Cry" back in the early 60s. I also noticed that his voice had an effect on women. I said when I grow up, I'm going to sing like that. Chuck used to come to Cleveland, Ohio every year. I bacame an entertainer in the mid 70s. Chuck came to town and stayed in a hotel that I was performing in. I got to meet him and get autographs for me and my mother in law...one of his biggest fans. The next night I did my show. I look back to the doorway and who was standing there but Mr. Chuck Jackson. He toured well into the early 2000s....especially doing soul shows in England and some recording. I was soory to hear that he passed last year. He was a performer with class, grace and soul. Great voice. I still do a couple of his songs as a tribute now and then. I'm 73... He was my idol from way back in the day. May he RIP....Thanks again.
I didn't recognize fee bee records but all their 1957 big hits were released on Dot Records. I wished Chuck Jackson had more hits because he had that gravel singing voice, as featured on "Any Day Now". I do remember a cover of "Any Day Now", #12 pop/ top ten country hit by Ronnie Milsap.
Fee Bee: Licensed the masters to Dot Records, for national distribution ~ I had, "Go Come With Me," and, "Whispering Bells," on: Fee Bee. 😀

Im familiar with Mr. Jackson's music...but Im hearing similarities between him and Paul Williams of the Tempts voices...hmmm🤔 Him and Marvin Yancey were instrumental in Natalie Coles career as well
I said the very same thing! They sound so much alike!
He also wrote for Natalie Cole in the 70s The Hit duo writers Marvin Yancy and Chuck Jackson
@@sexymama1966wrong Chuck. The writer was Chuck Jackson, brother of Rev Jesse Jackson and member of the 1970s soul group The Independents.
@@michaelmitchell5098well I see that you didn't correct washingrob, who wrote the comment first😊. I love you too😅 Michael Mitchell.Have a blessed day😊
@@sexymama1966 sorry about that (quoting Wilson Pickett). Blame it on the late hour😁. Be safe.
O.K I was wondering why Jessie Jackson wasn't mention? This isn't Chuck Jackson from The Independence? The First Time We Met! Leaving Me? Rev. Jessie Jackson brother they're from South Carolina also aren't they?
@@loriaeverett9603 that I’m not sure about but I do know there has been confusion for years about the two Chuck Jackson’s. The other Chuck is from the Independents who recorded “Leaving Me” in 1972.
That song for Mr. Pride was wrong. That sounds more like I Wake Up Crying
Correct!!!
Why Chuck Jackon calls his tenure with Motown the biggest mistake of his life? He recorded three albums in a short period of time and issued several singles. They didn't sell well but artistically they are far better than anything he has done before or since his stint with Motown. Jackson should have been more patiante at Motown. The Supremes had 12 unsuccessful singles before their first big hit. It is not mentioned that Jackson was later a very good producer. He produced in the begining of eighties an album for Aretha Franklin with magical songs like United Together. The best album of her career.
Mainly due to the fact that when Jackson joined Motown it was during the time when Gordy was focused on certain talents and the move to LA. So at this point the push and whole overall feel that gave Motown its name was basically gone.
A lot of artists at Motown were discontented at this time with Gordy focusing on Diana Ross to the exclusion of the rest
His best work was at Scepter/Wand.
Motown had a: Hierarchy. `Tiers.' {Tears?} Gladys Knight said that she & her Pips, were, `second tier,' while at Motown. Despite her great success & excellent productions at Motown. It's also been said, that The Marvellettes were , `Second Tier,' despite their having what I think is Motown's first Billboard, Pop Chart #1 hit, "Please Mr. Postman." And a lot of other great music! Promotion is also very important: This can consist of relationships with key Disc Jockeys, and, cash, "payola," extra copies of records that the DJ can sell, and / or drugs, cars, girls, you name it! `Any Inducement!' A good record CAN succeed without these things, if a DJ likes it, plays it & it catches on with the public! Luther Dixon was also mentioned; while with Scepter / Wand, Luther was very talented and successful! 😁
Hmm… I’m from Winston and related to some Jackson’s. I wonder if we’re related?
Any Day Now is still iconic.
I remember him when he sang with The Independents

Chuck has also stated that he was not a member of the Delvikings when they recorded “Come Go With Me”.
I love his voice
I just saw him on a Burt Bacharach special, and wondered about him. Fantastic voice! He deserved more attention. I'm curious about his hmm teeth. I'm watching on a large tv and they are so nice! Any Day Now was a Burt Bacharach song, btw. Covered by Ronnie Milsap in country world.
