    It's well known that frank Sinatra refused to work anywhere that treated Sammy Davis like a second class citizen. He also paid Sammy hospital bills when he was dying and was broke.

    I love how when Sammy gets the ball rolling, Sinatra orchestrates the band and Dean starts clapping towards the audience. These guys had all bases covered.

      I got the chance to see him live in the 80's with Sinatra and Liza Minelli and he was mesmerizing. When his set finished it was like you had been carried away. I remember seeing him on TV, Merv Griffin and the like, but nothing held a candle to the live performance.

      I was fortunate to have met Sammy when they opened the casinos in Atlantic city. He didn't know me from Adam and he must have talked to us for an hour. He was pure class! I will always love this man!

      Well apart from one gimmick Dean Martin being a drunk he dint actually drink that much most of the time he was on stage with what was believed to be a scotch was actually apple juice so yes they did have a gimmick and that was he acting as a drunk none the less still unbelievably talented

      @@JMARTIN1947 It´s always easy to bad mouth a deceased person like Johnny Carson. The truth is millions of people loved him, like they loved e.g Bing Crosby. They both had good and bad personal traits, as human beings. There is no denail in that. But then again, who can say honestly they dont have that.
      Johnny stopped drinking, as he at least had that level of self awarness. Not every mean drinker does that, so credits goes to Johnny.
      So I am sure his loved ones got to see more of the good sides of Johnny, after he went sober.

    As a child in the 60's & 70's I loved the rat pack. Dean was so funny and smooth, Sammy was just so damn talented, and Frank no words to describe him.. Who Johnny could sing like that. I saw Frank in concert when he was at the Aire Crown Theater. I was an Andy Frain usher and loved it.

    These were the coolest cats in the 60's, they did not need half naked back ground dancers and fancy strobe lights, just a great orchestra or two with their vocals and their stage presence. Man, I miss those days.

      I've noticed that back then and even years before they all came into existence, being overly talented, and what they would call a triple threat today, was common across the board in the entertainment business regardless of race, background or gender! Hence the reason that I have so many diverse all time favorite artists and entertainers!

      Watch it again. That wasn't Carson to Sammy. It was Sammy to Dean. The same voice that said "What's it like to sit in the back of the bus!" also said a moment later "Let's give Dean a chance!" That's what makes it funny!

    The camaraderie/friendship/respect between Frank, Sammy and Dean was so genuine and heartwarming. Casual cracking jokes at each other all in good fun is just something no one can fake!

    These men were so much bigger than a group of singers on a stage, they knew how to truly engage with a crowd and make that crowd a part of their "act", they enjoyed themselves on stage and so they were able to entertain who's ever watching them, true artists.

      WE HAVE !!! They were great friends & there's a story about Frank & Dean, they heard that the hotel/ casino wouldn't let Sammy Davis in thru the front door, that he had to enter like all blacks who worked there, thru the back. So the guys got ahold of the front desk & management to tell them that either Sammy was allowed to enter thru the front doors with them or like them 8or they were leaving & would never play there again.... So low & behold Sammy was allowed to enter thru the front doors & so were "all" the other black employees, know why ? They'd lose too much money & also, didn't want to take a chance of the other employees being backed by The Rat Pack....

    Holy Moly- they were not only outrageously hilarious-. But what talent they all possessed ! All superstars in their own rights- but as a Team- unbelievable ! Nothing was off the table and it didn’t matter- because they all truly respected and loved each other and the talents they brought to the act. ! Gosh I miss this !

    All great talents, but SDJ was the greatest. Sammy was a world class dancer, an incredible impressionist, an excellent actor and a pretty good singer.
