There was a period in the late '60's and 1970's where Dean seemed to get too jaded and he leaned way too much on his drunk act onstage, whether or not it was reflective of his real life. I don't know if he felt that he had to incorporate that as some kind of a crutch or that his act would be boring without it but he didn't need it. He was a talented enough singer, actor and comedian without the drunk shtick.The same old booze jokes got repetitive and boring after awhile.

Dean Martin was a great entertainer during his time in the movies, on stage and singing beautiful songs as he sold millions of them. Once thing was true, and it was a fact he definitely liked his alcohol and when he died, the cause was syrosis of the liver.

I loved Dean Martin a very talented person, but his voice was certainly not the best, it was unique and not a patch on Perry Como’s voice.
