    The Wedge-Tailed Eagle (Gigantotriorchis audax) is a large eagle species native to Australia, it is the largest extant bird of prey native to Oceania and one of the two extant species belonging to the genus Gigantotriorchis, the other is the Gurney's Eagle (Gigantotriorchis gurneyi), they are also two of four extant species belonging to the tribe Gigantotriorchidini (Oceanian Eagles) the other two are the Pygmy Eagle (Australotriorchis weiskei) and the Pygmy Eagle (Australotriorchis morphnoides), this tribe also includes larger extinct forms like the Mather's Eagle (Dynatoaetus gaffae) and the Haast's Eagle (Harpagornis moorei).
