When changing a wheel it's a good idea to put the spare under the chassis before using the jack fully. If the jack slips once you have the wheel off the car won't hit the ground and damage the hub. Once you have the old wheel off put it under the car before putting the new wheel on for the same purpose. Depending on the height of the car and width of the wheel you might have to jack up slightly before doing this and remove before fully lowering the jack.

I’d definitely get a tyre wrench that has the joined two metal pieces & 4 wheel nut size options.
These r much easier ( and a lot safer ) to use, as both hands can strongly grip the wrench, and u have heaps more leverage strength ( for undoing wheel nuts / and to tighten them up ) compared to the single piece tyre wrench that Becky has.
And standing on the tyre wrench ( which Becky did ) is not recommended.
Very easy to slip on the metal bar, and injure yourself, and u can easily strip the thread on the wheel nut, which is far from ideal, with a single bar tyre wrench, due to having less control over the grip, and pressure on the wheel nut.
And, carry a can of WD40, or a similar spray, to help loosen very tight / stuck wheel nuts

Totally agree about putting the tyre under the chassis, especially as often you might be changing the tyre on slightly uneven ground. In the video Becky is on a flat gravel plot, it’s not often like that on the side of country roads.
It’s even worth having a small square of flat wood to put under the Jack if you have the space (perhaps a chopping board or similar). It helps to spread the load, a small bubble Jack could easily sink into soft ground. Trust me you don’t want your vehicle falling off a Jack in the middle of nowhere, especially if you’ve just accidentally amputated most of your fingers at the same time and cant use the mobile phone

Hi Becky, just a little hint with the bottle jack. Check to see if it has a wind out thread on the top of the ram. it should wind out so you will not have to use all the ram height. Also it pays to slide the spare wheel under the sill or chassis, so if the jack slips the car will sit down onto the wheel and wont end up on you or the ground. Keep up the great vids.

The 270 awning looks great. (The only way to go!) definitely get a roof top tent ( hard shell rear opening) you can access them from the opposite side to your awning) just put the solar panel and recovery boards on top of the tent to keep the WEIGHT down. Pipe hot air into the tent from your diesel heater. Magic! Downstairs for storage and fridge. Omg! I'm rambling on. You have done an amazing job on the Landy Beck!! Looking forward to seeing it in action

4:20 This, right here, is a textbook example of how to lose a finger or thumb!
Whenever you're cutting stuff with power tools, never support the material with a hand in front of the power tool.
Yes, that can make things a bit more awkward but it's less awkward than living without a finger or thumb.
"Ah, but my hand was off to the side".
Yep, and if the saw blade snaps and the saw skates across the wood, that won't matter.
Best of luck with the build but, be careful. 👍

Hi,yo need to get some proper wheel chocks, there is a lot of play in a landrover transmission, they roll if the ground isn't dead level,
And a plastic/,pad for the base of the jack so it doesn't sink,i would suggest a hi lift jack but you will need to fit different bumpers,or possibly sill bars with a socket for the hi lift, you could cut the jack down to ,but this is extra expense, you do need chocks tho 🤘😁

I know it will take more room, but I would get a decent Jack that goes higher and is much more stable. I recently bought one the other day for £29… then what you need is a pair of Jack stands. Although it makes up losing a bit of room, you wouldn’t believe how much safer and easier it will make jacking when you need to.

I tried converting my Discovery Tdi 2.5 one of the last they made. I gave in eventually. The air suspension bags failed on the trail so the advice I would give you now, is the swap the air bags for springs. The bed needs to fold away also ,this gives you more space inside the cab.😅

    Enjoy listening to you, Becky.
(English is not my first language).
    Love the British English.
You are both funny and cute.. the thuft of hair dangling out. 🤣
    Technical support/considerations:
You have now two batteries in your car, one for the engine, the other for utilities.
Please treat them as two separate electrical systems each with its on fuses.
(I assume your batteries are not connected in parallel).
Over time, a potential difference is created between the two batteries. Like one would be 12v, while the other would be 11v. This potential difference is a potential hazard.
Please do not cross over from the electrical system of one battery, to the other. for that matter, a common ground is a cross over.
My comments are irrelevant, if all the batteries are connected in parallel to one another.

Personally, I think you're right to go for a set up where you're sleeping inside and then have a rooftop box for storage.
RTTs are fine for short trips/holidays but sleeping in one EVERY night quickly becomes a chore (IMO).
If your goal is to go "car camping" a RTT is probably the way to go but if you want to do other stuff and then use a car as somewhere to sleep at night, you want something that you can just flop into without faffing around, setting it up, taking stuff up into it and then having to do the reverse-procedure in the morning.

I would never ever use a small hydraulic jack to lift a heavy Land Rover. If that jack lost lift, you would end up with a wheel off and the hub in the ground. Always use a Land Rover screw jack, NTC 7956. Might take more time to lift the vehicle, but will never fail. Next tip keep a small thick piece of board to place under the jack to spread the load. If you need to replace a wheel on boggy ground off road that piece of board will be a lifesaver. To assist in undoing and tightening wheel nuts buy an Extending Wheel Nut Wrench like I have, it makes the task really easy. I know all this because I also owned a Defender and a Range Rover in the Scottish Highlands. Self adhesive velcro tabs are useless. Once the sun melts the adhesive, they will not hold anything.

At 3:42 there is a picture of wheel with the nuts on. THEY ARE THE WRONG WAY ROUND. The taper part should be against the wheel. This is dangerous please tell me this is sorted. All the best Jim

    I think on disco jack
The top screws out for added reach , no need for blocks
Are you planning a dartmoor trip , some cracking views here in North devon

Front runner makes nice storage boxes for the roof, pricy though. I like Plano boxes, sturdy and fair price.

Hello Becky, be careful because your wheel nuts at 1:47 , 2:19 and 3:43 are mounted the wrong way, the conical part is on the wheel side to center it. Please check that !!

Just a lil' thing... but it might be a good idea to get an extension tube for your wheel-bolt wrench- say 2ft or something...
The wheel bolts may get tight in time- and you'll appreciate the extra leverage...
