    • @chris6200

      @@justingoedel47 No they don't mean turn the key off. They mean disconnect the batteries. This is literally the first step for almost every repair in every manual written in the last 50 years. They tell you this because there are various electrical components under the hood that always have live battery power (starter, alternator, relays, etc.). When working under the hood it is very easy to bump or touch the these components with metal tools that can arc out to ground, burning and melting things in the process. Besides the risk of causing an electrical fire there is the safety risk to the mechanic. You don't want to have to trust other people to not turn that key. Just because the fuel filters are off doesn't mean that engine won't start and run for a few moments. In those breif moments mechanics could easily become crushed or entangle by moving components like belts, pulleys, and steering linkage or diesel fuel could be sprayed everywhere.
      Not only are you wrong Justin you are dead wrong. Lots of people every year are killed or disfigured because of failing to isolated equipment so it can't be started while they are working on it.

    This is exactly how I do my fuel filters, other than the battery disconnect. My 2021 x15 takes an absurd amount of time to get started again. I usually cycle the key and let the pump run 5 times and then try to start. If no start I let the pump run again until it shuts off then try again. Sometimes it takes around 10 cycles before it actually fires up and often throws a code for low fuel rail pressure. Is there a trick I don’t know about or what? Everyone I know with an x15 has the same issue

    • @helloneighbor11

      Make sure weather sep has fuel in it. Then to prime the primary filter just cycle the key a couple times ( without cranking the engine) after this it should start easy.

      Just safety. There are under hood components that have live power to them all the time and you don't want to risk arcing out tools on them. If you look there's a big positive terminal that likely has battery power just Infront of the filter. You also do it to prevent other people from prematurely starting the engine while you're still working on it.

    I know what you're trying to say with "take the filter off by turning clockwise", but I'd strongly suggest you provide a better reference point. If you were to hang a clock from that filter bracket, it would not turn in the axis that the filter bowl is removed. You could have a mechanic on a creeper platform staring up at the filter, and his/her perspective of "clockwise" would be the opposite of another mechanic staring down on the filter. "Clockwise as viewed from below" or "clockwise as viewed from above" would be a preferable way to explain this.

    • @jeffwatson2234
      @jeffwatson2234 Před 3 lety +2

      Well written agreement
      But your still wrong sir.
      You turn a filter left ( counter clockwise) to remove and right or ( clockwise ) to tighten or install if you will.
      You filter base is a Righthand thread.

    • @pjtemplin
      @pjtemplin Před 3 lety +2

      @@jeffwatson2234 you missed the point 100%. Completely. Totally. As in, never saw it coming as it flew over your head. And frankly, don't tell me "your wrong" for two reasons: one, I never said anything to the tune of righty tighty or the opposite, so I'm not wrong, and two, it would be you're wrong (if I actually said something that was incorrect, which I did not) - the contraction of you are is you're not your (and it would be Your filter base not You filter base). Regardless, the vantage point does matter, and you've completely missed that.
