I’m a tea connoisseur and I’ve got a fairly refined palate when it comes to teasing out different aromas and tasting notes. It drives me crazy when I present a tea to someone that has a literal bouquet of notes but they say something like “smells/tastes like tea”. But I find myself sometimes struggling with teasing the notes out of cigars. Definitely a totally different game so I can appreciate the concept of educating your palate but also technique and practise. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Proper lighting of the cigar helps a lot, I watched a perdomo and a davidoff video about it and my cigars burn cooler and I haven’t needed a relight since.
i like reading reviews to find the common tasting notes and then pairing it with those foods/drinks to compare. helps me a lot for some of the harder to identify flavors like the cherry flavors of a rosado wrapper or the cherry cola i get from a R&J exhibicion no. 4
Brother! Love your channel! Learning a lot and your energy is awesome! You come across as a regular guy loving cigars and I appreciate that! Keep doing what you do!
Good to know Tim I was actually worried about when I’ll be able to identify notes better now can you give me advice on pronouncing some of these names of cigars so I can remember them for the future besides saving the bands lol
I tried that CAO and I couldn't taste chocolate.. I feel like I smoked it too fast or possibly I'm looking too much for the chocolate. What are we looking for when looking for flavor? Is it a hint or is it really noticeable? I'm sure it's different for each cigar.
My palette is still developing after a couple of decades, so I hear you. For me it's just a fleeting hint of something. If they mention a raisin note, it's not like sitting there chewing on a box of raisins-not strong like that at all. To me it's almost like when you catch a whiff of something and it triggers a memory. It's a subtle hint like that and then it's gone.
All i taste is smoke, I’ve tried so many different cigars too, and that’s all I’ve ever smoked. Never cigarettes, maybe weed like 10 times in my life. My wife says it because I’m not a super taster🤷♂️
You are not wrong. All cigars taste like smoke and tobacco, there are no real flavors. Flavor is just borrowed word to describe what smoke of given cigar reminds you of, just hints of flavor but it's all basically tastes like tobacco.
I think people misunderstand tasting notes to mean it tastes just like _____. In reality, it’s more like a taste that reminds you of a certain flavor. Same is true of bourbons.
"Chocolate" is too wide a category. I find "cacao" to be a much better description, dark and bitter, high % cacao. We're not smoking Reese's or milk duds...

I'm actually finally starting to develop a pallette I can tell the differences in flavors for sure not exactly but closer and closer

CAO Brazilia Box Pressed is always in my humidor
I'm a Coffee and Chocolate Lover! I find these flavors very easy in the Stogie I Smoke! 🤔👍😃
What type do you smoke?
I just added that CAO to my wishlist.
You got to love reviews when they say I taste tobacco
That usually means it's strong, like saying oh this cake is sweet even tho all cakes are sweet
I seem to like the leathery flavors.
Well said
I never understood why flavor notes matter, either I like the cigar or I don't.
All I taste is Tobacco 😔😔😔 even the Churchhill Perdomo 10th anniversary champagne
I'm not doing all of that...
Mr. White is that you

I prefer cigarettes always
Also ez
100 years ago lmao
To me the Brazilia has zero chocolate, not even a hint. Tastes like earth and wood to me. Very good but no chocolate.

Yeah, I think I taste a hint of lung cancer, with trace notes of emphysema
Damn do you feel cool writing that comment?
@@ciemny9410 Actually, I feel refined and amused
@Canuck 99 Than how does the smoke get in your body? The point of smoking something is to inhale it.
@@FlyGuyFishingVTgo away child come back at 21 when you’re fully developed
You don’t inhale cigar smoke …. If anything it’s mouth cancer
