Glad to see your boat made it unscathed. Thanks for the video of the area. We escaped to my wife’s sister’s in GA so this is the first footage I’ve seen of the area. We are heading back tomorrow.
So glad you guys and the boat are ok. I was watching some of the news broadcasts on CZcams but it was a bit hard to tell what was happening from here in Australia. Hoping that your local community recovers quickly and life returns to normal.
I had no idea about water being drawn out by a storm. I wonder if that could be an indicator with other storms that the worst of the storm will miss the region.
Because the storm is rotating counter clockwise, the bottom is bringing the wind and water towards the shore and the top is bringing wind and water away from shore and since it went under us everything went out and everyone south of us got a huge surge and they were flooded.
This is only for the weird tides of this storm, not normal. At our last marina we had five feet of room on each side so we didn’t have to to this during a hurricane, but here we have maybe an extra foot from the boat to the piling.

Why didn't you sail out in the gulf far enough to not get affected by the hurricane?
seems like there should be a better way to keep your lines secure between changing water levels, its a lot of work
