    Maybe some criticize you for going with SL8, I applaud you for it! Ostro is a beautiful bike for sure but Tarmac SL8 is a stunning one in my opinion. Liking climbs as you do, Tarmac SL8 is a great choice. Well done!

    Great video but you compare the weight of an non painted sworks SL8 frame with a white painted Ostro vam 2 frame. Obvious that the difference is that big because white color is the haviest paintjob there is. You should compare it with the black chrome to get a sort of correct difference in weight. And even then the comparision is not 100 percent correct because the chrome black has a layer of gloss on it. That is not on the sworks if i'm correct.
    Keep up shooting those video's 🙂

    • @CyclespeedTours
      @CyclespeedTours  Před 5 měsíci +1

      True, but nonetheless, the point is that the Ostro has got heavier, whichever way you cut it. Perhaps that (small) increase is worth it for the aero gains.
      Not sure how they do it, but the painted Sworks do not way so much more than my naked one.

      I think so, yes. But if I could have 2 bikes, the 2nd would be the Ostro.

  • @ariffau
    @ariffau Před 6 měsíci +1

    A general consensus about Tarmacs after the Venge V3 was that these SL7’s and SL8’s are rather “easy” to get along with. Words like “boring”, “tame”, “predictable”, “vanilla” all comes to mind. Could you please confirm once you start riding them 🙏
    I like an extreme bike like the Aethos which prioritises on comfort. My buddy who’s good at sprinting [good enough to win a greeen jersey at L’Etape (by TdF)] said “he’d hate to sprint on an Aethos”. Is it true the SL7 and SL8 both aren’t an extreme bike?
    I am already riding an Orbea Orca Gen.6. It’s zippy and may be considered as an all rounder in terms of comfort, weight and aero. Not to keen to part away with my money on another bike that’s rather similar to what I already have. Cheers

      Darimo seem to have gone down hill will estimated dates, quality and basic customer service.
      I got my post last year and I think 6 weeks quoted took something like 10 weeks and the Di2 battery clip holes were too high and to file them out.
      I believe Gemini are developing stuff for the SL8 from what I have read.

    What is amazing is the price you pay for an off the peg S Works frame - when you could go out and get a beautiful custom Formigli or Sarto etc. Where you and the frame maker can dial in the carbon and achieve your ultimate frame. The S Works does nothing for me i'm afraid, the Factor Ostro still looks so much better. The S Works just looks like another far east carbon frame. All for the sake of saving a little bit of weight. Anyhow, how's the Ducati, have you still got it ?

    • @CyclespeedTours
      @CyclespeedTours  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Sure, it's expensive, but hopefully I can sell the Ostro for a good price, and if I can't then I'll keep it and have it as my 'aero bike'. I can see myself going down the road of a custom carbon (or Ti) bike at some point, but not yet, I'm still fast enough to enjoy the cutting edge of what can be done today, although not for much longer I suspect! (I'm 53....)
      Still got the Hypermotard 950, but I don't get to ride it much, because there's the RS4 and a Vespa to get around town on too!

    Bonito el cuadro, pero veo mejor terminado el Factor. La horquilla es mas ligera, pero tienes que poner el inserto del tubo, mas pesado que el de Factor, la rosca del eje de la horquilla de la SL8 es un inserto, si tienes problemas con la rosca como lo solucionas? lo mismo pasa con el eje de la rueda trasera, no veo esa solución la mejor, así consigues menos peso, pero veo mejor solución los mecanizados de aluminio para la rosca de los ejes que monta Factor, son curiosidades que muy poca gente mira, pero que suelen dar problemas. Esperemos que no surjan esos problemas y que disfrutes muchos km. de ella.
