    The aeroad is just a stunning weapon and looks the part! Still today it’s the most beautiful and powerful bike ✌️✌️✌️ s works is stunner too but it’s a compromised bike and not purebred thus I love the CFR.

    New subscriber and really enjoying the channel. Have gone back to the beginning and loved your honesty regarding alcohol. Massive kudos to you for making the change. Very similar to you I have ridden bikes all my life but after an accident I stopped in 2019, threw myself into work and family and over ate massively. Didn't like what I was as I'd always been fit, but last October decided enough was enough, bought a new bike a smart trainer and started the long road back. So will be following your journey closely. Well done Dave

    great comparison, im glad i bought the sworks sl8. allthough i did never try the aeroad it was on my shortlist but after bianchi oltre, dogma f and cervelo s5 testrides i knew aerobikes are not for me. and the headtube detail you mentioned was the reason i pulled the trigger on the sl8. i can ride it slammed.

    Loved this video, very informative, you got a new sub! I'm looking to get a first carbon bike soon (I hope) and my local bike shop got a deal on a Madone, I do not race, so it is a shallow look-based appearl on my side (think Ferrari :D) the logic would be to look at a Tarmac SL8 or even a better match for what I do an endurance bike. However, what got me bike into riding is the exciting feel of a race bike, I'm a sports car fan after all! Not sure I can transpose all of what you said about the Aeroad to the Madone, but when you say that the Tarmac is almost better in most category it gives me food for thoughts. I'll have to try to find a way to test ride both before I take the plunge (hopefully this year). Cheers

      I bought the Aeroad for the same reasons you mention... I like to ride fast (ish) and enjoy pushing myself... For everything I do, the Tarmac is perfect 👌
      Definitely try to test a couple of bikes... I've not ridden a Madone, but expect it will be a stiffer ride and it's definitely a fair wedge heavier than something like the Tarmac...

    Tires and wheels can significantly alter the character of a bike. I own a Canyon Aeroad equipped with DT Swiss ARC 1400 wheels (62mm deep), which are simply phenomenal for racing events-these deep aero wheels truly give you the sensation of speed. However, for daily use, I switch to Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels with 28mm tires, and I must say, the Aeroad feels like an entirely different bike. The most noticeable difference lies in the comfort, especially when riding on roads that aren’t in perfect condition. It’s comparable to the comfort of a gravel bike.

    • @daveridesagain
      @daveridesagain  Před 25 dny +1

      Yeah for sure mate - the DA C60's aren't the best wheelset in the world either. I can definitely appreciate that the Aeroad would be a great race bike ( ie, what it was designed for.. ). Its definitely rapid once upto speed! Thanks for watching.

    6:40 you say the Stack (Headtube) is "much lower" on the Canyon, but when comparing the Geo tables for example in size Medium / 56 it´s only 5mm difference. This is half a spacer!

      @daveridesagain  Před 8 dny +1

      Hey thanks for the message. It’s a while since I did this one but you just sent me to the garage to double check 🤔. I have both bikes here. The headtube on the SL8 in 56cm is 10mm higher than on the medium Aeroad, so it’s a decent amount. The Aeroad is longer and lower generally, so more aggressive. Maybe that is the ideal set up for the rider looking at this bike though… Thanks for watching 😊

    • @kallewirsch7915
      @kallewirsch7915 Před 8 dny

      @@daveridesagain Thanks for the real life measurement! That´s interesting, because I read the geo tables of both bikes from the manufacturers websites and the Canyon should be only 5mm lower and identical in reach (how long the frame is compared to the BB). So, this means that there is a difference between theoeretical data and real life data. Interesting, especially when you can´t test ride the bike before because it´s online only like Canyon.
      P.S.: You have to meaure the headtube in relation to the bottom braket, not in relation to the ground. Just to be on the safe side if the BBs aren´t at the same location. BB is always the starting point and the saddle and handle bars are in realation to it.
