Look at all history from all sides, Churchill is not the man, as portrayed by the UK, his most famous speech , he didn't even give, too drunk to do it, he was a just representation of the group that rules the world today, Vlad the Impaler was a real hero , he used to want to fight the leaders himself, to save the slaughter of his men and their men, that's what a real hero does

Even as an American, I have always thought of this hymn as patriotic, but the older I get the more the second stanza means to me. Where all "her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

Actually this piece (when used as a hymn tune) is called 'Thaxted'. Possibly better known as "I Vow to Thee My Country" but honestly the words of that are horribly bombastic, the music is far better on its own.
And it's also much better alone than in the Planets 'Jupiter', because in that Holst has book-ended it with some incongruous orchestral fiddling that clashes with the mood.
But by itself it is, I think, the most beautiful and moving piece of music ever written.

Like many people sharing comments here, I’m invariably reduced to tears by this moving work of Holst. This arrangement is especially powerful, given that it accompanies the archival film of Winston Churchill’s funeral. For we who so admired our fathers and uncles returning-or not returning-from the war against fascism in Europe, and barbaric aggression in the Pacific, this music is not just another CZcams moment. It is elegiac, epic, anthemic-a wistful hymn of gratitude to a generation that risked everything for us, their kids and grandkids. It even records for many of us the survival of a free humanity, with all the tear-brimmed sentiment that deserves. We can see the evil posed by Trump and Putin because their brand of evil is not new. Anyone moved by this music must embrace its importance in the recurring struggle against the new Hitlers, the new Mussolinis, Francos and Hirohitos.

Being British by blood is about pride, dignity, humility, doing the right thing, helping those in need and all the unique things that give us the right to call ourselves British, no matter where we are in the world our home will always be England, we carry the pride of England in our hearts the cross of Saint George in our minds when we travel, so if you are British hold your head high, we always come through the storms.

What I like most about this song is that it is a solemn patriotism. It is a measured pride in one's achievements, not an overblown pride like so many songs are. It recognizes the immense sacrifices so many made to make it happen. It recognizes that there are still greater things out there. And it recognizes that one should strive to make one's nation better, not simply be complacent in how it is.
It doesn't matter if you're left-wing, right-wing, centrist, or none of the above. It doesn't matter if you're pro-EU or anti-EU. This song is for everyone. It is more than just pride and patriotism; it is hope, sincere gratitude, and a recognition of one's own responsibility in continuing to improve.
Also, if anyone dares start a trollish political argument in the replies to this comment, well...you make me sad. Now step aside, Sir Internet Knight.
