I like to use pest treatments that an insect can’t become resistant to which simplifies things. Soapy water is a prime example. It dries out soft bodied insects which isn’t something they can adapt to. Oil works well for spider mites as it will smother them (they can’t exactly adapt to suffocation. Some oils work better than others but not all the eggs will be killed in each treatment). I like these options as they are also completely non-toxic.

TYSM for answering my questions! You are amazing! Beesgro is some of the best moss out there but it can be expensive and harder to find in the US. I use Orchid Moss from Lowe's, $5-7 a pack. Stay away from the Mosser Lee brand at Home Depot and other places. We use a lot of LFSM in the carnivorous plant community and find that the Mosser Lee brand contains alot of sticks, weeds, grass seed and trash. The floating bugs in water are more than likely springtails (if you try to touch them and they jump, congrats!). Springtails are attracted to water bc they needs huge amounts of humidity to live. They are very beneficial to have and are harmless to us and our plants. They feed on mold and decaying matter. The majority of people have them living in, around or under their houses and never even know it bc they are so tiny. I have 3 colonies currently (believe it or not, some of us pay for them 😳). They are used alot in bioactive enclosures (whether animals or plant terrariums) as a clean up crew, feasting on any mold, dead roots, waste from critters, etc.

You are simply fabulous. I loved listening to all Q and A. You are very informative and experienced in leca method. Only thing which I am struggling is decision regarding nutrients solutions. I am in India and see some hydroponic solutions with not so much statistics and detailed ingredient info.
So far I am giving diluted NPK (which was ideally for soil media) and sea weed fertilizer in my solution. And also I am alternating this nutrient solution with plain water just in case I don't mess up. So far all plants in leca are loving and growing roots. Lets see if leaves and other growth is equally impressive later in my journey. I believe in long method. I tend to grow all roots in water (1-2 inches) before moving to leca. Let's see how it goes.
One thing I wish to ask is what if my plants are in leca and are exposed to extreme heat of 38 - 40 degree Celsius. I don't have air conditioning in my plant room. So will they cope better in heat if in leca as compared to soil.
