  • Fears are growing of a spillover of terrorism from the Sahel region to some coastal states in West Africa, which have so far been spared such attacks.
It comes after French troops and UN peacekeeping missions withdrew from Mali and Burkina Faso.
The European Union is supporting four West African countries with military training and capacity building to beef up security to counter any terrorism attacks.
But some security experts believe more needs to be done to increase intelligence gathering in order to deal with the threats.
CGTN’s Nabil Ahmed Rufai reports from Accra.
