I mean it's true. As a spacie, your recovery is more dependent on how smart your opponent is cuz no matter how good you are, spacies still got a very linear recovery that can be edge guarded by people with a few braincells.
directional airdodge is also great at recovering, you should always try and avoid using your recovery tools as much as possible (until it's necessary to double jump). You should rarely upb.
Y’all I just found out something super important this morning with Falco. He has a pretty consistent shield breaker set up that idk why it took me so long to thing of. The setup is specific platform stages tho because the opponent needs to be on the plats (preferably battlefield/Small battlefield) the setup is an idj back air, falling up air into downsmash. It breaks full shield every single time with pure ease... does about 48% in total and full shield only needs 46% to break... you’re welcome!!
If you’re applying the right pressure and your opponent is holding that shield this should be pretty easy to set up. The idj back air should have enough shield stun for the opponent to not have much time to react (does depend on character I suppose) so I feel them holding shield would be the most common scenario and the falling up air had the least amount of lag out of his aerials so theirs no way they drop shield and do anything especially if you cross it up. The up air should hit most characters on both sides the shortest character I practiced this on was Mario so this may not work on the Pikas or kirby
This had me laughing so hard man. The energy reminded me of my dad teaching me how to fight. I love ur videos man, I always check to see if you have a character guide when I’m scoping out the roster.
most of this stuff i already knew because of me watching falco combos to cuddle too and for some reason that video has all the combos you need EDIT i hope you make a intermediate guide
so pretty much 1. if shielding grab then back air 2. if opponent is off stage fair (forward air) 3. up tilt, up air, up air, fast fall, up tilt, up air, up air, fair (forward air) etc... 4. fair (forward air) can shield poke 5. use fair (forward air) or neutral air (can start combos) 6. Active hop and IDJ (instant double jump) (advanced) 7. up tilt, up air, fast fall, up tilt up air etc... 8. Double jump then at second jump or after air dodge when off stage
Wow! With these tips I went from getting jv4'd by my friends to getting 3 stocked with them at 200%! Someday I won't be an absolute scrub and miss input every back air...
How do you get to the back air so fast. Because it seems like online I never make it there in time and they always have time to air Dodge. Also when fighting other falco's they never seem to make it there on time either. . Are we jumping wrong
Practice in training mode to make sure you perfect your timing. At kill percent utilt bair should combo on the counter. Then, once you're online you'll need to remember to account for lag, so you need to anticipate your utilt hitting the opponent to properly time the bair. One thing that helped me was to practice the confirm without looking at the screen (usually I was watchinng a video or something on the side) to make sure I knew the timing rather than reacting to the hit. Hope that helps!

I just won evo grand finals 2022. With falco. Never even played this game before today.
Congrats

I think you misspelled fair into utilt

I guess you never need to make a yoshi for dummies guide
Larry single-handedly saving 2020 with gratuitous Falco content
It's hilarious how I found this more helpful than your long guide from a year ago lol
“And let me tell you one thing, this is how you recover. And there you have it” real asf bro 😂
hell yeah, the Falco meta has been evolving so quickly that I couldn't keep up. thanks for catching me up.
I love that music in the ending.
For some reason it makes me think of a life where so many problems are finally resolved...
This is the greatest guide ever made, all of this just works

I actually learned something. Good video lol. The wait part after the up airs was the thing that I wasn't doing. I'm trash at waiting.
Omg Larry, I thought this was an actual guide. I come up in here, and you ain't even explain the recovery part 😂
so pretty much
1. if shielding grab then back air
2. if opponent is off stage fair (forward air)
3. up tilt, up air, up air, fast fall, up tilt, up air, up air, fair (forward air) etc...
4. fair (forward air) can shield poke
5. use fair (forward air) or neutral air (can start combos)
6. Active hop and IDJ (instant double jump) (advanced)
7. up tilt, up air, fast fall, up tilt up air etc...
8. Double jump then at second jump or after air dodge when off stage
idk how to explain it but Larry just has the kindest eyes ever
Yea you prefer the air don’t you
As a Falco main I realized that I use Fair and up throw for combos too less. Thanks, Larry!
This is like right on the line between satire and an actual guide I can’t tell if you’re joking or not 😭😭
“They say Mr Lurr” lmao
This video is a certified Larry Lurr classic
Just picked up the character and this looks really helpful. Thanks!
Is that a joke or not I can't tell
So great! Thanks Larry!
When I play falco against my friends
The sound of side b is burned into their mind
up tilt facing away from your opponent has a bit less knock back making it easier to combo into with bair. only works on tall enough chars
Wish more guide were like this
This looks like what I do in training mode when I'm bored
I can now, finally, recover
That whole opening,
"Hey are you a lazy shit?"
'wow it's like he's talking directly to me!'. Fr tho, bird gang forever I love your falco DEHF

finally, a guide that's cool like Falco himself!
Perfect video for little z to improve his falco
I didn't recover from the "this is how you recover"

Loved it! Thanks

Heyy, thanks for dedicating me a guide
tldr: up tilt in neutral, combo off of up tilt
Larry Lurr reading my mind for 8:46 straight.
Larry me boy, is D-Throw to attack cancel Bair to up tilt a consistent enough combo or should i just stick to upthrow combos?
If you mash A you get a rapid jab. It's pretty good. :)
Thanks Larry!
Damn this is how I play Falco already and I’ve never even seen the guide til now. Guess I was already the dummy
how do you know when you want to use Fair instead of Nair during aerial combo ?
