This video follows a construction crew working on a basement foundation project. They encounter various challenges, such as dealing with uneven ground, precisely fitting a steel door frame, and managing the complex steel reinforcement. The team showcases their problem-solving skills, using creative solutions like building a wooden frame to represent the door opening and carefully lifting and positioning the steel header. The video highlights the attention to detail and teamwork required in this type of construction work, as the crew navigates through unexpected obstacles to ensure the project is completed correctly.

BRACE THAT VAULT DOOR FORM -- IT WILL DEFORM / FAIL IF NOT BRACED VERTICALLY & HORIZONTALLY - A LITTLE PREP WILL SAVE YOU A HUGE HEADACHE AND LOSS OF TIME & MONEY
Pouring concrete in those forms might be my most anticipated moment in all of your recent videos.
ready for the blowout?
@@SwisherNoSweets Are you starting a betting pool
@@SwisherNoSweets they just need to pour it in 0.5m increments and let the concrete set just a little before pouring the next layer. This decreases the hydrostatic pressure at the botom a lot.
Agree
Why did they use this method instead of laying bock? This seems to take way longer? Just curious I’m genuinely asking why.
I think this build series is gonna be 100 episodes and I'm here for it! Looking forward to seeing this thing come to life!
As far as I am concerned, the longer the better. :)
Nah, not that many episodes. I'm guessing 60-80. But definitely more than 50!
@@davidspringer4019 sadly thats what my wife says
@@richardthompson7572😂
I think 100 episodes until they get the foundation poured :)
Maybe it's just what you catch on camera, but of all your guys I feel that Jason has evolved and grown the most. He's learned to think proactively vs. reactively, which goes a long way on the job site. Bravo, Jason!
Doing projects for himself would force him to think steps ahead
Jason is very smart. His wife makes him be smart. - she probably Prays for him A lot.
@@GerardHaightsuch a weird thing to say. I mean why go the extra length to take credit away from the guy and give it to some imaginary force that supposedly his wife prays to... It's obvious you're just pushing your religion here. But I'd say his hard work, professionalism and capability is showing. His wife supporting him may be the case. And that's it.
I believe in Jaime and his ability to get the vault door to fit on the first try!
I sign that
Nice to see Truewerk sending some swag to the new guy on your crew! Great clothing and a great gesture on their behalf!
Watching Jay and Ray really get the hang of the rebar bender made me realize that you guys must be paying your whole crew pretty well considering how qualified they are. You guys give them so much training and experience.
You guys seriously need a Port O John with the hand wash station attached. I'm sure Jay will love having that on site!
Hallmark of a great builder is when you see the job site after they leave for the day and there’s no excess trash. You guys do great cleaning up the bottles and cans as you go and don’t leave a mess between days of work.
OMG....the job we went to today, the wall guys left an absolute mess!!!!!! Styrofoam they used to block out where the floor joists sit, everywhere!!!! Big pieces, small pieces. Wood from the window block outs.....they didn't even knock the ties off the wall!!! We had to clean it all up to prep for pea gravel 😡😡
Oh! Island boys 🏝️🌺🏄♂️ - Erik and Jaime! Maybe the inspector wouldn’t have gawked at you if your matching hoodies had been mountain or construction themed! I had a constant grin on my face watching y’all in those things! And it made me think back to when Erik was filming my countertop install and noted “island”with a Jamaican accent! Thanks for the laughs, your thought processes and you hard work!
I was in Sylva today before you got to the job site and almost headed up to see you on my way home. But I wasn’t sure it was a good idea to show up unannounced and without Cardinal Coffees and treats.
You need to keep them on their toes Ramel!
@@moxielouise - ha ha!
It is pride month
Max isn’t even going to get see any framing done this summer 😂
7,000 MORE SUBS AND WE HIT ONE MILLION SUBS. SO HAPPY FOR YOUR GUYS SUCCESS. IVE BEEN HERE SINCE WE WERE UNDER 100k SUBS. LETS GOOOOOOO🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Crazy they only average 250k views with 1 million subs.. Goes to show how many bots people use to grow their channels..
California carpenter here. I sure do miss home. Been watching yalls videos for a long time now. Keep me on my toes.
Eric, thanks for giving Jaime a lot more room to opine on his thinking and his ideas. Yes, he can be verbose, but he does a great job and he’s aware of his need to be “verbally minimal”. My brother is WAY more talkative, but he tends to raise the dB levels, which Jaime doesn’t do!! Thanks for another great video.
This MEGA sized Modern Home series is going to put the Perkins Builders over 1 Million subscribers.
You men are amazing. Love how you solve problems. Jaime never ceases to come up with a solution. But also, he has a sharp mind that anricipates and / or recognizes potential problems. I've enjoyed watching this team for over a year. Good quality videos.
Inspector was probably considering how to get a shirt like that for himself 😎🌴
Also: Jamie giving of real "fear and loathing in Las Vegas" vibes with the hat and the shirt
It is pretty cool to see how Jason's skills have improved since he stepped out of the real estate world and became a Perkin's builder. That says a lot about you guys.
a VAULT! holy cow. first concrete formwork walls, now this… sounds like a lot of new (to you) and interesting things on this build!
Pro tip - Keep as much of the form release agent off the rebar by spraying the shuttering panels before you mount them. Some inspectors will not be happy if there's a lot of release agent on the reinforcing steel.
Jamie is this man, eric is always throwing shade on him but i like his “rants” he knows what hes talking about 🤙🏼
I never thought the sight of pouring concrete would be such great entertainment, but the anticipation is at fever pitch! 😄
Someone said this is going to be a 30 part build, WHAT? You mean 130 part build.. I love it! The more the better
30 part is just the concrete part of the house. Then the building part starts.
Let Jamie talk! I like to learn. Jamie does all the work no one else wants to do. So, I can't even picture what is going on here. I have watched you build houses & this has never been done. Love these kids. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
Love The Perkins Builder Brothers videos. Watching is a great way to start my day 💯😎✌🏼🫶🏼
Mastercraft, I'd be more interested in buying a boat if the Perkins Bothers did a review.
Just another Friday, after a long day at work, and loven relaxing, watching yee Guy's, incredible.working as a team. Most of all been work mate's, but been Buddies, how good is that ,
Those shirts on you two are awesome. I love how you just put them on and went with them. As always, its great watching you work.
Perkins builders brother My favorite CZcams channel
Can’t wait to see how this house ends up looking! Could you also please fix the playlist so it is in episode order??
As much as I love seeing a professional concrete crew do this a million times faster - it's enjoyable as heck to see you all working through the figure-it-out aspects of setting concrete forms. I assume Jamie did the math and figured they'd still save money DIYing it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In the prior video (or the one before that) Jamie talked about how scheduling a professional crew was like 2 months out in that area. I’m probably wrong on the exact time but it was too long to sit around and wait. And he didn’t want to take another filler job like that termite repair house to fill in the gaps.
Milwaukee, send John-O and Eric a track saw kit
I have been refreshing for days this show is addictive
They usually post on Thursday and Sunday around noon eastern.
Sunday and Thursday. And behind the scenes on Jays channel.
Letting Jamie speak. Love it!
Jamie, you are an awesome teacher, we appreciate your explanation on your builds.
Threaded rod is typically for your hold downs. Love the series so far, I am a building inspector and builder and just started a build about the same time as this series began. I am filming my build for the first time, hoping to start a youtube channel of my own inspired by your video. Looking forward to the rest of the series, thank you for sharing!
To space the rebar from the floor or top of doorways or even forms, you can buy little concrete blocks with some wires sticking out. You tie them onto the rebar.
how good that you have an area where there are probably no earthquakes, in Romania TONS OF IRON are used for a foundation. and the assembly scheme of the reinforcements is quite a challenge
Not a builder not a home owner but your videos are great, you guys could teach team work to loads of businesses
Best series yet, so looking forward to all the different mini projects on this.
You have no idea how many memories this brings back for me. I've used this system many a time, one of the most memorable was to form an underground tank under a garage. of course it was "ME" who got to strip it after the pour but that's ok. I've always loved the ease at which these panels would go together & just as importantly, strip! Though I am in Australia, they seem to be exactly the same as what we used some 20-30 years ago. I dearly miss construction & if there is one thing I can take from watching you guys, is probably the main reason was the guys I worked with over so many years is what made it so good!! If only age & better health were on my side, I'd be back there in a heartbeat, Thankyou for the memories, great comradery & commitment to good workmanship! 👍
Man, I genuinely wonder if the guys would even accept a traditional TV deal if one came knocking. The channel just keeps growing and the content just stays awesome. Not easy to scale like that and maintain the feel and quality that they have. I know a ton of work goes into these videos (not to mention building a home).
Oops, apparently the whole concept for the channel came off of a rejection from a producer for a traditional show where PBB were in the running with a bunch of other crews as per Erik on the Laying Foundations podcast.
I hope not. Motortrend just went to Discovery and I'm waiting for Roadkill to fall from greatness
That would ruin what makes these channels so great.. Hell the introduction of in video ads is already starting to kill the vibe, add in 22 minutes worth per hour, mainstream scripts and no one would watch these guys..
Hopefully they wouldn't. TV is dead. Commercials every 2 minutes. And that tired formula of manufactured drama and fake deadlines. The suits would just turn it into complete garbage.
I worked for a television show with some similar content. Doing a show comes with a cost. There would be a production schedule to adjust to and also different minds weighing in on what projects you take and telling you what content your viewers want. It could destroy what makes this special. In this case bigger may not be better. Having total control of your end products is a very valuable thing. The production schedule would take away a lot of schedule flexibility. Shows are fun to work on but PBB produces great shows and houses already.
Only if they had lost the ability to think.
If you want seeing a renovation project, visit escape to rural france. Same commitment as these guys.
2 years ago i suddenly saw your channel in my for you page and i completely had no interest in construction BUT i was like “ehh ill watch it im bored anyway” and since then i started watching your videos, well not everyday but i get my dose of your channel once in a while. This new series is the best that ive liked so far so keep it up and stay healthy💪💪
Props to milwaukee for fixing the way you get bits out so that you don't need a pliers
Kudos to Max for his hard work and good work ethic.
This is some build way outside your comfort zone it's going slow to start and will catch up later. Looks good just watching the plans taking place. Wow from the UK.
I can't wait for the pour on this form work.
The pour is gonna be SICK!
Love seeing the rebar and concrete. Here in the island of enchantment🇵🇷 all of our doors and windows are custom made to be able to fit perfectly just like Jamie was explaining. Keep up the good work; we’re all enjoying this series!!!
I have been so looking forward to Pt 8 of the MEGA sized Modern Home, this home build series is going to be epic.
All the Perkins Crew need to be decked out in those gnarly work shirts Eric & Jamie were wearing.
Man I would so love to go to the Milwaukee Pipeline event, but the video from Eric show casting the event will be mighty fine.
On yahs Perkins Crew, and cheers Eric for the swish edit of the reel.
Jono is going to be in his happy place surrounded by all that Milwaukee spirit. I look forward to hearing him actually talk more. Lol
@@moxielouise Heck yeah, Jono will be on cloud nine at the Milwaukee Pipeline, I like Jono he's wise witty wondrous...and like a younger version of Alo...
thanks for bringing in Max, the younger guy, to learn from the experienced builders. Great experience for him, and who knows, he might come back and be the next Arlo!?
Super great video and series! The header that Jamie describes as steel and concrete would preferably just be called a "concrete beam" and it would need reinforcement which is the steel bar you place inside.
Keep up the great work 🤟
Pro tip Eric for hand washing out a cap on the jig but back it out halfway so water can trickle out in a controlled flow
There's always a first time for everything. That said, it's quite a testament to the high quality results in your company's buildings history for someone to entrust you in; for your FIRST time, a project of this magnitude requiring this extreme level of brains and brawn. Sincere mega congratulations!
Way to go Max, thrilled for you! Well done TrueWerk! Love it, bringing on the young pup! Loving the stuff you guys get to showcase!
You should check your plans on that all thread galvanized rod. Just build an ADU and they actually used it in my concrete foundation. Rod came up to the framing and attached to Simpsons HDU strong ties.
When I make up door frames on site, I do them on the flat bed of my pickup.
Love your work 👍
Love that this series will have some length and is different. And no hovering homeowners 😂
Put a sleeve through the wall for water one sor sanitary, and one for electrical. Then no drilling through your beautiful wall. When you bottom waller ends you top waller has to cover by two waller clamps
I have been waiting on this video!! Can't wait for it to be finished!
Respect to you guys, lifting all those steel components is a strength draining exercise, especially in humid conditions. Great build, waiting for the concrete to be poured. Take care, he safe and well.
Love your channel. But no wonder the inspector was eye balling you two (Jamie and Eric). You both looked like you were wearing matching pajamas! Twins much? 🤣🤣🤣. Seriously-keep up the good work. It’s calms the heart the way all of you guys interact. Cheers.
Hello!
I am a construction engineer from Ukraine.
For monolithic walls I use Doka Frami formwork and I really like working with it!
Try working with this formwork!
Good work!
Nice to see you guys getting some support! Been one of the best out there for some time now!
Washing pro tip: get a cap that will fit on the bottle and drill some small holes in it. Now you have a way to not dump out all your water when you tip the bottle too far...
Looking forward to concrete day 👌🇦🇺
Hallelujah!!!! The daily jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻was owning a loan of $47,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery (David), Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $8,000 and got my payout of $270,500 every months,God bless Christy Fiore 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸..
Hello!! how do you make such monthly, I’m a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down of myself 😭 because of low finance but I still believe God
Thanks to my co-worker (Carson ) who suggested Ms Christy Fiore
She's a licensed broker here in the states🇺🇸 and finance advisor.
After I raised up to 525k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states🇺🇸🇺🇸 also paid for my son's surgery….Glory to God, shalom.
Can I also do it??? My life is facing lots of challenges lately
Jason looking like a snack out there shirtless.
Awesome work guys. Little slow with the foundation but its second to none!!!!
A kind of older, past its expiration date snack?? 😂😂😂
Great video as always. They just keep getting better and better as you challenge yourself and your crew. Thank you!
10:35 For the vault door it's better to make the entrance exact the size of vault doors because you can scrape the solid concrete to make it bigger but you can't add more concrete when you are installing the vault doors
Almost 1 million subs, let's go!!! I think I'm looking forward to this build more than any other!!
Pro tip..use hex head tapcons instead of the tapered torxs or philips ones around concrete forming. They get filled up with concrete and make it a pain to remove.
This show is the shit!!
This is gonna be like a 30 part build lol. I'm excited!!!!
I have said this before and it is still valid,
YES - y’all and Dude Dad MUST COLLAB.
The "safe" room is actually when it is part of the body of the building becomes a "vault"
I'm assuming gun room?🤔 🤷♂️
@@jamesdennett196 Yes.
The each 10" wide vault jamb will have about 4725 lbs of lateral/ shear force trying to push the form which is why the need for strong forms for concrete are neded to prevent distortation and more important a blow out. Both jambs will need to safely support almost 10,000 pounds of lateral force trying to crush the vault door form, make it strong. Ray Stormont PS The total lateral force trying to push your forms apart for the appx 180 linear feet of 8' high forms will be over 2 million lbs.
Love this show, their camaraderie and their expertise ❤
The razor scribe you put masking tape on your trim first, and then scribe along it tight and then peel the cut part off and that’s what you cut off
That million subs coming up fast, who gets the golden ticket?
I love watching you guys work. Looking forwards to when your finally ready to pour concrete. I once watched some guys in the Azores set up forms and pour concrete as the base for a new Radome for a new tower and radar system I was installing back when I was in the Air Force. They used very little rebar, but the base only had to support the weight of the Radome and the panels are just fiberglass.
Aloha Perkins Bros! 🤙🏻🌺
Thank you for sharing.
Love watching, miss longer episodes. keep up the good work.
Awesome stuff fellas! 😃👍🏼👊🏼 .... Speaking of masseuses, make sure Jaime does his research first, I was looking into this one online and she had nothing but bad reviews..... I guess she must have rubbed them the wrong way.... 😉
I suggested using sports tape, and some c__t_r oil, and YT removed it.....
What a crazy amount of work. You guys got this...
Right on time for dinner 😊
That place is amazing
"It's pale o'clock, right now." I'm at the sink doing dishes and busted up laughing, good one Josh.
Sorry Max.
You may not have gotten a Mastercraft boat, but I'd be willing to bet you've gotten MORE tools, clothes, materials, etc than that boat is worth.
Nice job guys almost done
That is one massive house build.
I can only imagine the fire power that goes in the safe room!
I worry if doing one shear side on the door box will allow the non-sheared side to squish inward. Also, maybe a couple of 4x4 posts from bottom to top is called for along with the ladder side to side bracing, just to keep the top from getting sagged. Awesome episode, and the Hawaiian Shirt patterns almost make it look like a relaxing vacation, almost.
Great series!
Not supposed to get form release oil on the rebar. Just on the forms. You WANT the concrete to bond to the rebar. Inspector should have mentioned that.
Getting excited to see some concrete in those forms! Awesome stuff.
Dang, that safe room is gonna be insane!! I can’t wait to see this whole house finished!! Please tell us that you’re building it from start to finish?!?! So cool!! 😮❤
We're all waiting for the Perkins Builders Bros beefcake calendar, dad bods and all.
I belong to a skeet club that has no water at the range. We use old laundry soap containers or plastic jug with spigot for a hand washing station.
