- Hello peachies🍑 We know that you guys have been waiting for this video, thank you for your patience and its finally here! It seems like it is a common perception that our appearance will not be flattered if we are wearing corrective glasses... We had been always made aware, through films and television series and the various books that we’d read, that the acquisition of corrective lenses was something to be very, very sad about. Whether you wear glasses every day, reach for them only on occasion, or just throw a pair on sometimes for a little extra fun, the frames you choose can ultimately dictate how you look!

I used to prefer myself without glasses but now I’m just so used to seeing myself with glasses that I look weird without them
Same, I started wearing mine in fourth grade and now that I'm a senior in high school, I can't imagine not having them. Sometimes when I'm in the shower (one of the few times when I'm not wearing my glasses), I'll start pushing on the top of the bridge of my nose in an attempt to push up glasses that aren't on my face lol
i cant even see myself without them
@@lifeontheledgerlines8394 Ikr! I would find myself trying to push up my glasses, then end up being confused on why I'm not feeling anything.
same..like when i have days where i feel pretty it‘s bice until i take lff my glasses and realize what i really look like😭

I worked as an optician for 2 years and this is such a great video! For people with high prescriptions/scripts, the type of lens you choose does matter. This goes hand in hand with what frame you choose! The bigger the frame, the thicker the lens. Upgrade to the thinner lens to avoid lens distortion. And we often recommend going with smaller and rounder frames as the lens is more likely to come out thinner as opposed to getting a more angular frame.
Also, please get an antireflective coating! It is worth the investment.
Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you for the above comment! All your points are fantastic. Also worked in optical, and worth noting the "smallening" of features is only with minus power lenses (eg. --2.00). If you have a plus power lens (eg +2.00) it will make your features appear larger (Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys is a good, but extreme example of this effect, google it). As noted above, regardless of whether you are near of far-sighted (-- or + powered lens respectively), the higher the number value, the greater the distortion - smaller frames are the way to go. Additionally, smaller frames will be less likely to slide off your face, since heavy lenses will affect the frame balance, and will be less stable on your face (nobody wants their glasses to constantly slide down their nose). Lastly if you are getting progressives (usually only applies to those over 40y/o), STAY ON THE SMALLER SIDE! The optics in progressive lenses works best with a smaller frame, big framed progressives tend to lead to a lot of head-bobbing to find a clear range. Anyways... thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
ignore the strike through? honestly don't know why it did that or how to fix it.
@@theyellowbird Thank YOU for expanding on these points!!
According to my cousin (my eye doctor) i cant get smaller frames i can only get big ones otherwise my lens could fall cuz it would be too thick
Finally someone who talks about the lens's strength and the upper rim of the glasses! I love your video, it was the most informative video I've ever seen about glasses! Also thank you for including the cat-eye glasses, they are the only type that suits me.
Where is there no comments?
I have a doubt 😢 they said if ur brows is closer to ur eyes then rim less and for longer mid face thicker rim but i have longer mid face & close brows and eyes whag should i doo 😢😢
I wish this video had existed when I was younger. I started wearing glasses at 9 years old and have gone through so many different frames that just looked unflattering on me. The term “nerdy ugly duckling” rang true for me for years! It was only until 4 years ago that I began to understand how to use the frame shapes to my advantage. Great video and I’ll be sure to refer back to this video when I’m shopping for a new frame next time :D
Didn't you try them out at the shop first?
I mean, I'm the only one in my family who doesn't wear glasses but when my brother needed one, he tried multiple styles at the shop.
@@skye387 oh, I've always tried on frames before buying them. But I guess I desperately wanted to wear frames that were fashionable at the time. However, I didn't understand why I couldn't look like other girls who looked nice with the same frame style until much much later hahah
@@skye387 I had no sense of style I only wanted the glow in the dark ones 😅
Aww no, it's a shame you felt unflattered wearing your glasses. I imagine that would have had an impact on your self-confidence, especially since you would have had to wear your glasses everyday since you were young. i started needing glasses when i was 7, but even then I knew I wanted to lean into the nerd look so my first few glasses were rectangular, until I found my favourite frame shape which were the large, thick, blocky, typical "nerd" glasses, but in purple instead of black. I saw photos of my dad when he was younger in the black nerd glasses and went "That. That is what I want" 😂 I get my strong jawline from him. Unfortunately, my glasses snapped, and the optician I go to don't stock my style anymore so I've had to go to thin wire rim ones instead 😕 I still like how I look though. I wish I could tell younger you not to worry about fashion trends, and to go with what style you felt most comfortable in. Ultimately though, comfort and practicality trumps fashion. It's no use looking good if you have to keep adjusting your glasses everytime you talk, it'll make daily life so much more of a hassle.

Oh wow thank you so much for this since I have a round face shape! :)
@@milyb6495 you're welcome! i didnt think anyone would see my comment since i initially just did it for myself but I'm glad it helped
Thank you for the summary!
pick out the shape opposite to your face for balance
7:25 square or diamond face shape = round, oval, or cat eye frames to soften
8:00 round or oval face shape = square, rectangle, or angular frames to add definition
thin, round frames = youthful / thick, angular frames = mature
do not get glasses wider than the width of your face
top of frame should sit between brows and eyes - do not cover brows as this will throw off balance
close brows to eyes = avoid upper rim glasses and thicker frames
long mid face = get longer lens or thicker frame / short mid face = get rimless or thinner frame
high visual weight features = get darker frames colour
low visual weight features = get lighter frames colour
when you're square and oval face shaped: **which one do i choose.**
ironic how people say I look older with square frames yet always have people say I look good in cat eye frames despite having an oval face lmao
@@yelloooooooo lens, you choose lens.
i want black glasses but i have low visual 💔💔💔💔
@@queenlizs if u think u will feel confident while wearing them go get them !!! Slay girl 💕🤍
I'm an optometric technician and optician and I want to verify that these tips are amazing! Only thing to note is that corrective lenses don't always only make your eyes smaller. If you have a "plus" prescription, your eyes will appear larger.
Great video ☺️
when u say plus do ya mean higher ?
@@darkellaslayer7067 plus as in hypermetropia
@@rnni5220 ouwww tqtq
We're quarantined right now but it seem I need glasses so after we can go out we're gonna buy glasses so can you explain what this plus and minus means?
@@-FairyGodMother- its farsigtedness vs nearsightedness (hyperopia vs myopia) you may also have astigmatism
i always hated the way i looked with glasses- i have a square face shape and i always felt they made my face look too mature, turns out the frames were always either too thick or not the right shape, i'm definitely getting round ones with a thin frame next time i change them ^^ this guide was so helpful!
did you find better glasses?
i have the same problem except that i have to get thicker frames because my prescription is too high for wire frames :(
Keep in mind that the distortion effect from higher prescription lenses is being talked about from a MINUS LENS point of view. it is the opposite effect If you have a positive lens prescription...
Finally a guide about choosing glasses that isn’t only about choose square for round face, i always thought that I have close eye and brow distance, there should be a guide about it and i finally found it here
I’ve already bought a glasses but luckily I’ve chosen the perfect one! It’s all thanks to you and other creators who makes such a helpful videos
For my fellow thick-lensed glasses wearers with not-so-prominent features, I'd opt for *transparent frames* instead of wire-framed glasses. The wires usually emphasize the thickness of your lens, but solid-colored frames could also overpower your features. Make sure to choose ones with a slight tint (usually it's brownish, bluish, or pinkish) because the truly transparent ones can turn yellow over time when exposed to the sun.
I guess you could also try the frameless style, but thick lenses cost too much money to be unprotected 😅
This! Currently wearing thicker, transparent glasses right now. The sides are wired but the front is thicker and transparent. I think transparent fits very well!
Yes! Finally someone talked about this. I switched to transparent glasses with brown tint two years ago and everytime I tried another frame that is not transparent just felt off on my face😂. Now I have transparent glassed with pinkish tint and it looks so cute❤
quick extra tip: be wary that acetate/plastic frames can break without warning, and those breaks can be near impossible to fix/glue back together, even at the optician's! I learned that the hard way so I stick to metal now lol
Yeah, and if theres an expensive frame you love and want to have reused after you get your next eye exam plastic and acetate will change over time naturally and wont be able to be reused in the future. I also found out the hard way. I had the perfect frame for my face until it mishaped after a couple years and i couldnt get new lenses fitted to it 😢
this happened before to my glasses but exact opposite because it was metal...now im confused lol
how about the matte frames? do they also break easily?
@@reeahn they can break too but not as easily as plastics imo, i had my matte glasses broken suddenly for no reason after only wearing it for 2 months. metal glasses are expensive, but they definitely worth the price since it's strong.
My glasses often fall down because I have small ears. My frame was indestructible. After 2 years I had a different lense strength and needed a new one. The frame was still perfectly fine though. I had my second plastic frame for 6 years until the lenses needed to change again and the frame was still good as well.
If I had metal frames though I would've definitely bended it at some point by accidentally sitting on it.
this is not just helpful, but SUPER HELPFUL. I've watched many videos about glasses and face shape but THIS describes more to it, giving lots of examples so we viewers can compare them irl. and I really appreciate that you include makeup tips for wearing glasses ❤
Can't wait for this channel to reach a million🥰 it's really helped me in surprising ways
GIRL I WAS INTO GLASSES AS AN ACCESSORIES THESE DAYS- and I need tips omg what
My previous glasses always looked strange on me but I never understood why, so this video is extremely helpful for me 😊
This is game changing. I've always been wearing too big or too small frames. This has helped a lot, thanks!
I wish I saw this video before, it's very useful... I already bought my glasses, and I hate them, they have thick frames and are black in color, and completely hide my eyebrows, I tried them on in the shop and my parents convinced me, and I agreed bc I couldn't see myself (the reason I got glasses in the first place) and I just saw a blurry mess in the mirror but was pressured to say yes bc I didn't know any better 😢
That's happened to me too 😭
My mom told me the huge clear glasses looked good on me and since I also couldn’t tell what I looked like, I agreed and now I hate them 😭
SAME my glasses looked terrible but i didnt know why and this video just enlightened me on why i hate the way they look 😭
I've taken to taking selfies while trying on new glasses so when I put on my current lenses I can see how well (or ill) they look and approximate how others will be viewing me in the future.
Same 😭 at the time I didn't know any better, but now I realize my glasses look HORRIBLE on me. I hate them. It's basically every don't in the video haha. I try to make them more presentable by pulling them down my nose, but I really want to change them. Hopefully will do next month.
Always love how your videos are in-depth but also to the point at the same time!! Thank you for all your efforts and literally blessing us with this!!
*PS* Can we please get a "haircuts/hairstyles for all face shapes" video whenever its possible?? I've researched a lot on my own but its confusing and certainly not comparable to what this channel provides..
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long, thank you!! 💕
It really makes sense with the glasses I’ve chosen in the past where I went a little wrong. I bought this really cute pair of blue light glasses with the thick transparent upper rim but thought it looked better when I wore the glasses slightly lower on my nose so that the upper rim didn’t cover my eyebrows and upper lid area. The lenses themselves went too low though (they’re huge) and I felt like they made my mid face longer and my eyes smaller. I’ll definitely take these tips into account next time I buy glasses! Thank you for the video~
Perfect timing I’m getting my eyes checked tomorrow and I’m sure I’ll be needing new lenses/glasses
As a person struggling with waking up in the morning i rarely get time to put on my lenses. I have been thinking of glasses for a little while and this guide has helped me come one step closer to my final decision. Thank you❤.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, this was so helpful, I'm getting new frames soon and I'm glad I've watched your video ❤❤
Waaahhh I've been waiting for this video, thank you 😊
Yes, your statements are right. I’m one of the ppl who look better in glasses because I have small eyes, very high cheekbone, diamond shape face, and large area of lower’s face part. It helps a lot to balance and smoother my face as you mentioned.
same. my boyfriend also thinks i look better with glasses on. i have a fatter, more rounded face but with a smaller/shorter eyes and a slightly longer midlength, so it's doing a favor for me. i've tried several frames, colors and designs before but gone frustrated as i think glasses will not suit me ever (i hate to use contact lenses everyday as it requires more work of removing/applying), until i found a great design from a japanese brand. clear with a cool pinkish hue gradient in a rectangular frame became my favorite one, and a staple! it works with all my clothes so i don't have to worry about matching the color of my frame to my clothes. it's amazing how slight changes in size, colors, and styles in frames can make MASSIVE difference on making or breaking your look
wooaa I've really been waiting for this video ! thank you
finally someone talks about lens thickness! my vision is very poor, so contact lenses aren’t an option for me and all of my previous glasses make me look like a mad scientist wearing goggles
I loved how she described it so elegantly, slow and chic.Thank you very much,it’ll be my first time using glasses and now I know how to select it.🥰
this is easily the most helpful glasses guide🥺👏👏👏💯

Thank u Peachie! I love your channel!🤍✨
thank you so muchhhh, i have a diamond shape face and i was never wrong at choosing the round frame. TYSM for this! 💗
finally!! thank you peachie my life saver!!
For me :
I prefer round and younger looking frames and imo rimless glasses are pretty af and I like metallic features
# Tip-1: always pick lens frame that is smaller than your face.
# Tip-2: don't take glasses that cover your eyebrows.
# Tip-3: Lens shape with longer length will fit you.
# Tip-4: Angular frame will go well with you. Rectangular frame will make round face look slimmer [ which I actually don't need but let's just write it here ].
# Tip-5: put more importance to your lashes and eyeliner. Light eyeshadow is the best tho~~ [ my opinion].
# Tip-6: no contouring bronzer is enough.
# Tip-7: apply blush on the upper part of your cheeks and choose natural colours.
i literally love you, keep up your amazing content mwah
im seeing this after getting my glasses , and i'm proud that i chose the perfect one that enhanced my face shape and makes me look good :) also thanks for the video , you are our saviour

Actually I faked having bad eyesight just for getting glasses, I used to take of the lenses of my sunglasses just for it to look that I have bad eyesight , but then I realized I really had bad eyesight 😮then I went to the doc and said you need to wear glasses , at first , I didn't like my self with it but after you get used to it , it feels like it looks better , so I prefer glasses, THEY LOOK CUTEEEE
and thanks for this video, very instructive as always!
glasses have always made my eyes look bigger actually, which is why i like wearing them. they do not always make your eyes smaller. (also low nose bridges are cute so try not to be insecure about that
i love that you mentioned the misshapen face shape thing! since i have a very thick lens (my both eyes are 10,00- ±) And i always insecure about my misshapening face shape while using glasses. I will use your tips when i need to change my glasses already 🤓

I love this video this is going to be so helpful in a couple of days when I get my glasses 😁
i have an oblong face shape with warm undertone and high visual density and honestly the recommendation for me is actually SO correct. As someone who's been wearing glasses for such a long time, the metallic round glasses with wide frame worked best for me and suited me the most among all the other hundreds of glasses i tried.
I'm going to get my glasses tomorrow for the first time, and this makes me feel more confident that I'll choose the right frames and will look good)
Omg thank u so much for this!!!^^ been struggling picking glasses for years .....
i'm scheduled to get new glasses next month (i have a prescription) and i feel like i never choose the right frames for myself so this video is rlly helpful to me!! i'll be sure to choose a flattering frame this time :)

i love this channel. thank u sm for all ur videos
Thank you so much !! This is such an amazing video, I've been wearing glasses for years and I always struggle finding glasses that suit me so that's extremely helpful !!
The only thing I want to add is that the way glasses affect your eyes' size actually depends on the type of correction you have I think ! I have quite strong hypermetropia and my glasses make my eyes appear bigger than they actually are, and it "widens" my face where the lens is instead of showing the edges of my face :) just wanted to say for people who don't wear glasses yet !
But truly you're the only channel I know that discusses these topics, so thank you sm 💓
i also have hypermetropia (farsightedness), rather than myopia (nearsightedness) that the majority of people who wear corrective glasses have, and my prescription is pretty strong so no matter what style of glasses i have it makes my already round and large eyes look even bigger, which i don't exactly mind because my style and makeup doesn't really clash with it. so glad someone mentioned this!
i wear completely round and oversized glasses because i think they're cute and nice on me, but god it feels like any glasses make my eyes really weirdly big sometimes because of my prescription lol
@@liddolbee same haha, my eyes are also quite big naturally, and I have a strong correction as well so I feel you ! I also wear big rounded glasses but not perfectly round ( I might try them next time though )
And I ever wear only slight makeup so I don't really have a problem with it either, but I agree with this type of prescription, every type of glasses will make our eyes appear huge...
I use clear glasses and I think they look amazing on me because I have dark eyebrows and the glasses don’t blend in with them, I’ve stopped using dark or black glasses, they make me look like I have no eyebrows and a big forehead lol (kind of like the girl on the “dear peachie” sign 0:55)
Finallyyyyy...... I was waiting for this since that jewellery video......😆😝
I was just looking forward on buying glasess, Thank you so much! Helps me save money and efforr
Thank you 😘 Love you dearpeachie!
some glasses tips for myself:
1: always pick lens frame that is smaller than your face
2: Len's upper rim & eyebrow should have distance
3: rimless glasses but avoid brown tea or black tinted lenses
4: rectangular shape glasses
5: metallic(silver or gold) or tortoiseshell(safe option)colour frame
I absolutely love this video! I have been using glasses for almost 5 years, and had the same frame for like 3 because it fit me really well and didn't want to change it because I didn0t know how to choose... And I hadn't found more frames in the style of what I own, so, really, thank you, I'll be taking your advice into consideration next time I go glass shopping.
I skipped this video before but i need glasses tomorrow.. so here i am . Thanks for the this video peachie
i love this video so much!! i have been wearing glasses since i was 10 (i’m 19 now but almost 20). i’ve tried manyyy glasses over the years but now i know just what will work for me 🥰 thank you ❤️❤️
I can't imagine a life without my beautiful glasses ❤️ I may have terrible vision and a high prescription but I love my specs!
I never see a video that talk about glasses prescription and i perfer myself with glasses tbh this actually make my day none other people talk about Glasses prescription/ people with high glasses prescription/ for minus or plus .
I just got new glasses and I feel like I made the wrong decision 😭 thank for the video I’m gonna try and a new frame
This channel is a life saver
with this video i realised i picked the right glasses shape, but not the colour or size! i like myself a lot more with glasses, because i have somewhat of a round/pear-shaped face and the upper corners help add a little more width to my upper face to match my jawline. but my glasses are thick and black and though black looks good on me, they cover my eyebrows and the upper bridge of my nose, so i always find myself raising my eyebrows in pics to make them show and thinking my already wide nose looks even shorter (even if i have a hump so the glasses bridge helped hide that a bit lmao). I will definitely try putting on lighter more metallic glasses with frames more accentuated only on the corners i need them in compared to thick throughout. thanks peachy!
Great video. But a big point to address is some glasses (like mine) magnify instead of minimize the size of the eyes. The magnification is from being far sighted instead of near sighted! I would love to see an update for those like us with magnifying lenses! Thank you!
thank you for this informative video!
for v-shape face, closer brown to eye distance:
- thinner upper rim
- lens shape with longer length (occupying midface blank area)
- angular frames
- metallic or black
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE
i think i need to to get glasses and will be going for an eye test soon. this video really helped as now i know what type of glasses i would suit best:
rounded glasses but not too big
either a metallic or a thin black framed glasses
idk about the others bc idk how to describe my facial fatures.. but this was really helpful! thanks!
