    All great points! I do like to change hairstyles but I feel like having my microlocs leave me space to create some of the same styles that I created with my loose hair!
    I do think that it’s worth mentioning that retightenings feel similar to having your hair freshly braided. I didn’t done braids when I was natural for years, so I forgot what that felt like . So if you’re tender headed, you may want to consider that before getting locs also. 🥰

      @@MsNaturalBeauty1000 I’m just now seeing this! 😖...I started my microlocs with 2 strand twists but I interlock the roots. And whenever I do a retightening, my scalp feels slightly tighter. I’ve explained on my channel that I’m much better with the Reties now so I don’t make them as tight anymore but both INTERLOCKING and RETWISTING the roots will bring your scalp SOME form of tightness and tension for a few days. What IS light and you can hardly feel it are the locs themselves. The smaller they are the more it just feels like loose hair in your everyday styling and how light it feels to have the locs themselves. I hope this helps!

  • @mewmames
    @mewmames Před 3 lety +4

    Mine aren't matured, but they definitely are settled and on their way. I was the opposite of you, I thought my hair would take a minimum of 2 years to settle/mature, and was told by my initial consultant that it would. Then after about a year, my (different) loctician said that they were settled. No slippage, round, uniform locs. They're definitely growing "out" instead of down, but I'll hit two years in April so I'm doing fine.
    apparently the person who installed my sister locks did them bigger than a lot of consultants would have, so my fairly dense hair was in about 420 locks. Now it's at 400, and I think that helped it immature faster.

    Thank you for all of the helpful tips. I’m considering micro locs. I’ve heard people say you don’t need to moisturize. I can’t get my head around that concept, coming from being natural for about 7 years. Do you moisturize? Why or why not?

    • @TyKaraAnn
      @TyKaraAnn  Před 3 lety +5

      I do moisturize everyday.

      locs or not it's still your hair, and it needs to be moisturized or else it will get brittle and break off😬

      Me too but I went for it bc I was tired of detangling for what seemed like hours. I was very happy with my decision after my first wash one week post my diy 2 strand twists install. The peace of mind and freedom is priceless. Do it! ❤️

      Everyone’s locs look different ofc, but Queen Eleem on CZcams started with 4c hair. You can also search by density to get a vague idea of how the beginning of the journey may look

      I have 4c hair and I decided to microloc my hair 3 yrs ago and I love it. Kinkier hair will loc more easily and looks amazing locd. I finally have freedom with no more long detangling sessions.

    Your hair is gorgeous! Great video of what you can expect( or shouldn’t expect)! I have said that also about y do they refer to their hair as “dread locs”, and then some or even a lot of ppl even refer to their hair as “dreads” which is worst! Currently I’m looking for a sisterlocks consultant . I’m both excited and apprehensive but I want to give this look a try because sisterlocks and microlocks are so beautiful!!

    Ok now!!! I knew this was going to be good cause you posted it on my babys birthday. I had locs for 9yrs and had to get rid of them due to life changes. Now, Im considering microlocs and Im so tired of doing my hair. I miss my locs. it took about 3-4yrs for mine to completely mature.

    If you have small children, special needs kids, or several heads of natural hair to care for ; think long before choosing micros!!! I ended up picking out 3 year old sisterlocs after my daughter's hair started growing long.

    Did you have any issues with your twist unraveling and if so, did you retwisf them? Or did you leave them unraveled?

    • @TyKaraAnn

    Sooo after a little over one year of My Beautiful Daughter Princessita #blexican waistline length #microbraids #microtwists #locnewbie #finehairloc #3chair #twistlocs are halfway removed with fine tooth comb on dry hair for less shedding as We started the removal process with Grapeseed oil and Rose water but noticed lots of shedding with conditioner. Too much shedding. Tears! So I will keep removing the twists of bunches of loops, unusual merging, and not an amazing grid. I will continue to remove them and allow Her locs to rest before washing it and then deep conditioner with hot oil treatment then Aphogee treatment. A week later will install #4pointrotation #microlocs with an established grid which I overlooked during installation.
