I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and catching up on your old videos, you guys make my day as I am stuck indoors recovering from surgery. I am from the UK and we don't have much food waste - Aldi and our major supermarkets give it to homeless shelters and food banks. I go to Florida twice a year and would love to give it a go. Keep the great videos flowing
Well, I do get some negative comments, but I tend to delete them. People say I am annoying, loud, shrill, rude to my husband (as if!), they say the dumpster diving is gross. Actually I can handle people's opinions but I delete if they curse. This must remain a channel of light and positivity and happiness. I am the only one allowed to curse here!!
Frugal momma! My little guy and I are watching this video. After you said you could make some strawberry jam my 8 year old son said "or some strawberry PIE frugal momma!" Lol just has to share
Great haul. I love it when you find beautiful peppers and veggies. I’m wondering if dumpster diving is illegal here in the state of Tennessee. You don’t ever hear of or ever see anyone doing it but I would love to. It’s like a treasure hunt!
I think out of all the dumpster divers on you tube you guys are the best ones you don’t let nothing go to waste and I love that about you guys I watch all your CZcams videos keep them coming👍👍👍
Last weekend we found 62 boxes of cereal (still in date), a 4 lb bag of dried pinto beans and a 2 lb bag of rice in addition to 2 cases of ramen noodles and various snack foods. Did good this weekend too. I dd to help a couple of family friends and to supplement my house. Plus its just fun 😁
I found the roterisery chicken from that day (nice and cold out still) and a bunch of veggies and milk (still in date or a couple days past). I made soup from majority of the veggies and all the chicken(2). Also found a bunch of yogurts. All of that was in one dumpster and there was still more! I then went to another store and 3-4 boxes of snack bags of chips/dioritoes/etc.
I've had my share of snack/junk food and I am glad when I find apples, oranges, other fruit and even lots of vegetables. I also like finding meat when that happens.
I did it!I went Aldi dumpster diving!!I scored big time!If I had a step stole I would have gotten more. Thanks to you two I got the courage to do it...Also I ran to Walmart to get a grabber and went back..Lol!!!
Of all the dumpster diving videos here is youtube, your videos are the the ones I enjoyed watching.. I hit the notification bell and I'm always looking forward to your new videos. Stay safe frugal mommy and daddy!!
Green Bananas can be boiled (in their skins), peeled, and used like potatoes. Most Americans would never think of that but here in the Caribbean, it's a staple.
Did u know? You can make your own apple cider vinegar out of those apples also? I'm going to try it when I find an abundance. Tonight was my first bigger abundance score at Aldi's..3 huge packages of chicken breast, (lots more that I couldn't reach, believe me, I tried!), 2 pkg brown and serve rolls, wheat bread, xl pizza, 2 cabbage, red AND lavender roses, 2 large tomatoes, bag of cinnamon bagels, 1 pkg potatoe & cheese pierogie, 1 pkg potatoe and onion pierogie, 1pkg mixed greens. It is exciting!!! Thank you bounteous universe ;-)
Instead of going to a grocery store, you can do your shopping for food in a dumpster bin for free. No money or cash needed.just help yourself what's there to take every week, and five days in a row.you guys rock and are the best. Not a shame, for whats there to take in the dumpster bin.
I am so glad you are doing well after our old spell. Today it's 49° in Michigan, and our snow is melting. The ice is still there! Nice to see a couple of DD 's low key diving. Have fun with the mangos!!🍉🍑🍊🍞🍋🍓🍅🍌🍖🍆🍍🌽🍔🍗🧀🍞🌰🍑🍉🍈🍄🍏🍇🍑🍊🍒🍋🍓🍌🍅🍍🍆 l was watching a video about veggies, and saw that peppers with four bottom humps are female thus sweeter. 🍎🍗🍍🍆🍅🍌🍓🧀🍞🍒🍑🍄🍐🍈🌰🌰🍄🌶🍇🍈🍐🍉🍋🍓🍅🍌🍆🍗🍍🍎🌽🍔
Have no idea how I stumbled upon this video and never have I ever thought of dumpster diving but I must say I am quite surprised of what you have found and makes me wonder? I’d still probably never do it though. But good job on saving resources!
Have you ever been dumpster diving at a HEALTHFOOD STORE?? Now that would be the Ultimate....... You both did a super job getting all this food . I never thought a person could find all this and so ripe and clean looking . I"am amazed . Take care,I'am a new subscriber .
I went for the first time with my sister in law, it was awesome!! Found so many bananas, apples, 4 Turkey breasts , still frozen and still in date. Found so much food we split it and donated a bunch of it
You two never fail to amaze me 😊 I could watch your dumpster diving 24 - 7...I surely could and I hope your okay after your in home accident you had... Oh I love dumpster diving... It's like I'm there with you Frugal Mom and Frugal Daddy... I'm jumping up and down right there with you on your dumpster diving trips... Oh it makes me happy 😊 I send love to you and your family from Thomasville, N. C. 😊😘🙋
Went out diving last night and was fortunate enough to find a 40 lbs. Box of chicken drumsticks at Aldi lol. If anyone is wondering, that's 240 drumsticks lol
Amy, I've heard you say before that you are interested in learning more about canning, and I have been watching Living Traditions Homestead. The woman, Sarah, has a huge garden and cans like crazy. She's a very patient teacher. I just got done watching her can salsa verde now even I believe I could do it! (Never canned before.) Thought I'd let you know! 💓💛💚💙💜
Take the plantains green boil them add salt cut them in half and boil them.Good with fried onions and fried spam. Cut plantains fry add seasoning to it.Great Green bananas also boil and eat with any meat you like.Add a little oil on top of bananas.Add salt when you boil.Just a recipe for plantains green bananas good.
Sunday we got so much salads awesome Love you guys video good luck and hope y'all donate food also to those that need. That's my reward when I go dumpster-diving 👍👍
Frugal Daddy would be proud of the 10 little Debbie brownies I found today and frugal mommy would be proud of the 10 cartons of almond milk and 5 brussel sprout stalks lol
Kudo's to you guys for doing this. I'm getting quizzy just seeing this, but great people who are able to go and do this. There is no shame in this I just personally could not do this at all.
@@juliecastillo914 Speaking from experience, employees are usually threatened with termination if they take anything home. This is also the case in food service.
Reason might be just oversupply of food at supermarkets... I guess they would prefer to have too much to sell than not enough, and there are no laws to prevent throwing excess supply out (at least in Australia where I am and I assume the USA as well).
Can u make a cauliflower soup w onions and milk and then use an immersion blender? Yes, pretty much I would just cook the cauliflower in broth with a little milk and maybe some sautéed onions, and then cheese, and then blend, if I was not going for a vegan version. Same with broccoli.
My question ... why do these places do this with good items... Are they so big that they can’t even mark it down for people to take advantage of a bargain, but have the mindset that if we can’t get FULL price, let’s trash it... I know it is to your advantage as you guys do this..but my goodness the US is sooooo wasteful...what happened to “waste not want not” and being thankful ❓❓sounds like you guys aren’t that way👍 enjoy your endeavors👏👏😁
It shocks me how much stores throw away. We struggle so hard on a budget to get plenty of fruits and veggies for our kiddos. I mean those same strawberries were over 4 dollars the last time I went shopping. Apple bread or an apple pie would be yummy.😜
Donation bin vs dumpster! One doesn’t need to be an Einstein to know the diff!! Some folks! Did my first dive Fri at Aldi. Went to pick up a few groceries and I thought I’d give it a try. Without my grabber and the dumpster very low, I was able to grab 2.5 lbs of ground beef, bag of Halos and a bag of onions! I was so proud of myself. The mystery black bags were full of fast food junk. Nice haul, Amy. And frugal Daddy!
in my city most stores use a trash crusher so you never get to see what they throw out. there are a few exceptions and you would be amazed at what gets thrown out. any prebagged fruit or veggie. if just one as a flaw the whole bag gets tossed. any dented or mushed can or box. anything that has dirty or flawed packaging. anything that has reached it sell by date. any package with a rip or tear. there is no common item. its always something different.
It's hard to do much of anything when it is single digits outside so I can't blame you for not dumpster diving. Nice haul with lots of fruits and veggies as you needed. Enjoy.
Cauli buffalo wings!! Skip the breading part-just add spices to cut cauli, bake for 20 min, add the wing sauce ($1 at Dollar Tree) and bake another 20 min YUM! 😋 We also say, “Well, we’ll live another day!” 😂 Found the prettiest smelling dish soap tonight-“Arctic Berry” from Aldi 😋
I would give anything to be able to do what you do. My daughter won't do it and I don't drive. Love that you are able to get the free good food that is just being wasted. I don't understand. Why do they throw it away?
I got out a Saturday and only hit Aldi, but they threw away the big wicker baskets they had some of the breads in. They’re big enough I’m going to make two nice dog beds and sell them. Perfect for a Labrador retriever or German shepherd size dogs! Love your channel, and I appreciate all I’ve learned from Frugal Mommy and Frugal Daddy.
We’re in Illinois and my grandkids love “diving”. I, like you, find nothing wrong with eating what we find. Enjoy your videos. My grandkids just started their own CZcams channel...Q Squad Divers. Keep doing what you’re doing. Hope your hip is better!

All that food looks in great condition. It's criminal what is thrown out in this world when people are probably starving in the same area.
Exactly exactly yes amen!!!
@Cherryblossom Plumtree not all shops but a good amount of shops in the UK will donate reduced and un-bought to food banks

Green Bananas can be boiled (in their skins), peeled, and used like potatoes. Most Americans would never think of that but here in the Caribbean, it's a staple.
Wow how I wish I'm in your country. Free food is a blessing.
The goverment should make the stores donate to the food banks, instead of just fining the stres, they should make them donate!
Hi Freekan Frugal great job keep up the great work and eating for cheap comes in handy that 's for sure Bless you and all your familly xox

So you just go behind the grocery stores and dive away? Or do you have to ask the store's permission?
it is shocking how much good food the stores in your area throw away!!! glad you are rescuing it.

Great job, that food looks so fresh and good!
Take some charcoal because you never know when you will need to cook outside.
Wow, I am shocked at how good (sellable) that food looks. Why on earth was it in the dumpster?
It just goes to show how much edible stuff gets thrown out.
