    Re the stall behaviour and riding on thrust - that is completely accurate. The F-1 endeared itself to its pilots by being rock steady where other highly-loaded singles (we are looking at you, F-104) would literally kill you without warning

    Half of the family of one of the developers (Fernandez de Bobadilla) are or were fighter pilots in the Spanish Air Force, including his father that is a retired Mirage F1 pilot. He retired as General if I´m not wrong. For sure the people of Aerges have had the best first hand information about the Mirage and the best beta testers 😀

      Last people I trust about planes are pilots who flew them, like fishermen, the fish they caught was always bigger than their arm, lol. I'm just kidding, its really good, I got it do do some really cool stuff for the combat video (not out yet), people's jaws will drop. Only issue I thought it had was the stalls, someone said they were correct, maybe they are. Its a really good flying module.
      There actually may be an issue with some underperformance in some areas, I'll have that video out last. I haven't confirmed it other than a couple of passes in those areas, but again if anything, the real one was a better performer. We'll see.

      @DeusVult1527 well, cant blame Aerges for what Dassault did. Plus real life you have better vision than even 4K. If anything, if anything we should use cockpit lights for videos. But in any case, your eyes should be outside the cockpit when flying, nothing to see inside (as my first instructor kept reminding me quarter of a century ago 🤣)

    Really awesome flight behaviour with that plane, I did some dogfighting with it and I got into what I guess where flatspins however they were quite easily recoverable with some rudder action. What was not recoverable were the ton of engine failures I had when in high G, high AOA situations. Also, when going fast at low altitudes, there us buffeting and the engine shuts down. Overall I really feel like the main thing to be careful with in that plane isn't necessarily ripping your wings or getting into a stall, but really not letting your engine die on you.
    Excellent job with that video, am looking forward to seeing if the aircraft is realistic as per the irl performance charts.

      Even the F-104 will flame out at SL at 765 kts (I think). Even MiG-25 could achieve a few more kts. Its tge airflow, it overheats the engine I belive.

    • @notproplayer3649
      @notproplayer3649 Před 2 lety +3

      @@FSX404 absolutely ! The cool thing is that I believe this may be the only plane in DCS to have that behaviour (apart from the mig21 I think), and overall, I feel like I'm shutting down a lot more engines in the f1 than any other DCS modules when I first learned them, especially in dogfights.
      There is also a behaviour I don't quite understand, sometimes, when pulling really really hard (without breaking your wings), the engine starts buffeting and it only stops when the engine totally shuts down (in a minute or two), I've tried slowing down, going faster, getting higher up or higher down, and I can't seem to get rid of that buffeting, also, after it shuts down, air restaring isn't possible which is an indication that the engine got totally fried.
      Pretty cool I must say, very powerful engine for it's time but you gotta be careful with it.

      I noticed that at low altitude too, Throttle just out of the afterburner gate, heard the distinctive banging and watched the flame flicker quite spectacularly. Fantastic attention to detail. Personally I like the idea of temperamental Jets in DCS, it really gives them character and a challenge for the veteran players where flying modern American Jets just isn't that difficult anymore.

  • @delayed_control
    @delayed_control Před 2 lety +2

    Regarding adverse yaw: it's not caused by the effect you've described in this aircraft. The Mirage F1 uses _spoilerons_ to assist with roll. Spoilerons cause pro-verse yaw, because they add asymmetric drag inwards of the roll direction. The reason there is significant adverse yaw instead - assuming flight modelling is correct - is because of the yaw damper. Although the yaw damper is always going to have a washout filter in order to reduce the adverse yaw it induces (it only damps high frequency oscilations and lets low frequency ones - such as an actual turn - through), there always will be some left, especially if the purpose of the damper is to eliminate proverse yaw in the first place.

      They seem to be somewhat accurate, F1 stalls nose up, then nose drops down. And some pilots insist that with the AB on you can maintain the nose up attitude, but not sure if it would climb like it did.

  • @tariqnazeem8238
    @tariqnazeem8238 Před 2 lety +1

    Hey could you test out the extent to which the engine flameouts are modeled and how this could affect which maneuvers we can use in a dogfight, Ive heard the engine cuts out during negative G

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před 2 lety +3

      yes, the engine cuts out about 2-3 seconds into negative, but comes back on as long as you immediately go positive, unlike the MiG21 that flames out. Engine also has an issue if you are 250-400 kts and you yank it up like a cobra maneuver, it will start getting compressor stalls and doesn't recover. Eventually flames out. Stalls are OK at lower altitudes, no engine issues, but I havent done a high altitude stall, where a lot of jet engines will flame out if air flow is interrupted. I'll cover somenof tbisbstuff in my part 2 combat video.
      I just flew a perfect dogfight where everything happened, and I could have used for the second video, then found out I didnt record it!!!
      I'm done for tonight, lol, I'll redo it tomorrow and post it for you guys, show you what to do in this plane, and what not to do.

    Per slow flight the spin while using ailerons isn't necessarily true. While i am no fighter pilot i've put many aircraft IRL into slow flight which is 5 knots above your VsO. In turns you use very very gentle movements of all your controls with power to change altitude and pitch for airspeed. you can put in aileron without to much issue but be warned it's harder to recover from overbanking if you use to much.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před 2 lety +1

      you use those ailerons close to a stall speed and you're likely going into a spin. Its math, aileron down increases the wing tip AOA by 2-2.5 deg. If you are already at 16 AOA, adding another 2 deg to the tip makes it 18-18.5, tip stalls, wing goes down.

  • @redpilot6388
    @redpilot6388 Před 2 lety +1

    So it's not just me that's seeing the weird stalling. Also the plane appears to be very stable, it is very departure resistant, spinning it is difficult. And another thing... in transonic the centre of lift stays put.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před 2 lety +1

      Long story, but stalls are hard to program in DCS, its an extra condition. So how one group does it is up to them. I think Aerges focused on the correct aileron stall, but the regular stall and spin need some work, Im sure they'll fix it. F1 should have a similar stall as the MiG19.

    • @redpilot6388
      @redpilot6388 Před 2 lety +1

      @@FSX404 Yeah, they've done an amazing job so far, fixes are bound to be coming and hopefully, they will tweak this as well. I also think that the F1 would behave alot better the the 19. That one was terrible from the onset. Even the russians gave up on it. Speaking of which, RAZBAM had a similar "tame" stall for their MIG19, but it was way more obvious. For the F1, it's quite hard to notice, unless you're trained in what to look for.

    • @aidenchen1275
      @aidenchen1275 Před 2 lety

      Well I think the centre of lift does shift during transonic phase. I trim the plane to fly straight around M0.8 and starting from M0.9 the nose starts to pitch down , not as dramatic as the AJS37 for sure but my guess is the acceleration at this speed is also lower than the Viggen
