  • This is ole #3 when I brought it home and ready for a trail ride later on. Everything in between is in a play list of nurturing it here;
    • Ole 2000 #3
    This bike is now my main off-road bike to take out if I am going some where that I do not need a street legal bike. Which is rare these days! But hey, I got a good deal on it. Ole #3 Is ready to rip ass!
    I already documented all the fixing up of this, but I did not show much of how it was when I got it. That is taken care of now and I think you are fully up to date. It has had one trip to the mountains so far. I can put a link to the build play list and a link to it's enitial shake down ride at the end of this video if you want to see more, click on one of those.

      You had better keep an eye out cause they're getting tougher. I have a 99 for sale... hint, hint
      Regarding the question here, This bike, this video is a before and after with out really stating the fact. You can see what it was when I got it and once I was done. The inbetween stuff is all documented in this playlist.

      But to kind of give an over view of the scenario... I was buying extra bikes because honda had just stopped supporting the xr600r.
      This 2000 was one of them.
      As I rearrainged parts on bikes to dial in my fleet for my needs, this one was not needed. So once the fleet was done, I decided to dial this 2000 in too because it showed little use compared to some.
      There is a whole chain of events and ownership from before I got it. I got it pretty cheap, it needed some nurturing back to health. The gamble I took with that bike paid off bigtime as I discovered it was true what I believed may have been the case when I test drove it. (not running right)
      It was newly posted on craigs list in the morning and I put out a "dibs" on it right away. $1,800. Hauling back home at 2pm the same day. But the kid I got it from got it for $800 two days before. And the guy he got it from got it for free!. So I got burned in a way because it had a plate that had been revoked in 2005. (which I was REALLY wanting)
      Still, 1800 for a little used ohv is with-in the decent range even in today's inflated prices.

      Wow, that was an amazing deal! I’m not worried because I know that when the time is right, I can count on you to help me buy my dream bike. Thanks for the information and the link! Keep up the great work, sir. All my respect.

    used to be a quarter

      A candy bar was 5 cents. In general what used to be a dollar is now $20. I remember piling 8 of us in my 58 bel-air, each puts in a quarter for gas and we go out to folsom lake to swim for the day. All on 2 bucks gas. Yep, used to be a quarter. This video shows pretty much the last time I will be going to the car wash as I recently purchased a pressure washer. Too many bikes to be tossing all those quarters in at the car wash.
