- Control Your External Synths with Yamaha Montage/MODX | MIDI Setup Tutorial
In this video, I'll show you a cool way to control your external synths using your Yamaha Montage or MODX. 🎹
I've connected all my external synths to different MIDI channels on a MIDI interface. For this example, I'm using the MIDIFACE by MidiTech.
Here's a quick rundown:
1. Create a performance from scratch and assign up to 8 parts. I used 5 parts for my 5 external synths.
2. Name each synth and set different MIDI channels on their global system, matching them with the MIDI channels in your performance.
3. Program a scene for each external synth accordingly.
Now, I can record each synth individually, either as MIDI or audio tracks.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for!
Thanks!!!
If I just want to connect my digitone, can I just use the a/d input and use four parts for the 4 different tracks on the digitone? I'm sequencing this with a modern mpc.
I believe you can. As long as you are able to address different MIDI channels for each track.
