Electrolyte Imbalances | Don't Do What I Did! is a video that teaches on the importance of electrolytes for overall health.
Electrolyte imbalances made easy is an important topic because many people feel many symptoms of poor electrolyte balance. I have the unfortunate experience of feeling about all of them as I drove myself into a massive deficit through fasting, keto and long distance running. It is actually quite surprising how much electrolytes you need when utilizing these health strategies combined with endurance exercise.
Electrolyte imbalances signs and symptoms are vast in number. The reason for this is because it impacts the musculoskeletal system and also the nervous system. When you have an electrolyte deficiency you may feel anything from muscle twitching all the way to heart palpitations. When it comes to an electrolyte imbalances treatment it is very important to add in an electrolyte drink in order to replenish sufficient levels in the body for better health and overall well-being.
Electrolyte powder benefits the body in so many ways. I went from feeling like my entire health was deteriorating to feeling like Superman. The electrolytes magnesium, potassium, calcium, and sodium are critical to bettering your health, especially if you are fasting, eating a low carb diet or participating in any endurance sports. This is an excellent electrolyte powder for keto. It can help you avoid the keto flu and support you staying in the state of ketosis while feeling energized and healthy.

This is very important because just recently I've been recovering from electrolyte and potassium depletion.
I'm on keto, and I was taking vegetable supplements in capsule form that I thought had lots of potassium. I found out there was Zero , and I almost went to the hospital five different occasions and one time when I was out of town I almost went to the ER.
One doctor suggested I'm very short on potassium through the low carb weight loss. So, I spent the last four days putting in about 5 grams of potassium from avocados, coconut water and spinach, adding some sea salt and Himalayan salt here and there. I feel like I completely bounced back to full health again. Thanks so much for putting out these kind of videos. They are an immense blessing!

Bingo-Doc👍🏼 . . . Started IF early last year; after, working-out (hard), on full-body, HIIT-regimen for several months. Weight dropped fast; but, energy & stamina suffered during exercise in a fasted-state! I blamed it on lack of carbs (depleted-glycogen); so, toned-down my workouts on IF; jacked-it-up after carb-loading. Then tried an electrolyte-blend with (1000mg-K); it did help reduce leg-cramps. Then tried another brand; less (mg-K), plus Acerola berry (60mg-C) and L-glutamine blend of (300mg). Drank the mix before bed; again early AM prior working-out and WOW, it was my ‘aha’-moment! Still fasted, worked-out hard w/ stamina; to finish (5)circuits strong! Felt well-hydrated at ‘cellular-level’. I’m (62yr) male, (14%) body-fat on (20hr) IF, strict LCHF discipline. NO headaches, thirst, cramping or fatigue during work-outs!

I had the best diet going and what put me down and ended up in the hospital with dehydration seven times in one year and it was all because I wasn't drinking enough water and I drink more coffee during the day than water and believe me you don't like to be in a position where you're dry heaves and end up in the hospital with an IV in your arm. So I promote water and less coffee cuz I've been almost in position I thought I was going to die. I couldn't understand what was going on and finally it was the results of dehydration water deficit

17 days in Keto + IF and having the Keto Flu. Bought a Vega sport electrolytes to see if it can help but I thing something is making me more tired in it. I have body pain everywhere, cramps, feel heavy, fatigue etc...
I am looking into doing my homemade with magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium to save money because I can't work for the moment. I am lost because I don't know what I am missing or what I have in to much. Discouraged because I read somewhere you need more potassium, others says no... discouraging because I put all my energy into keto and IF so I can get my health back. An interesting source of combined sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium is, as suggested by Dr S.D. Phinney, the sodium reduced salt found in the supermarkets for those on sodium reduced diets.

This clear presentation is most helpful.
In the 1990s I did a very successful Atkins diet but developed extrasystoles and my cardiologist blamed my unbalanced diet and obliged me to gain weight again. However the extrasystoles persisted. I then noticed that I had eye lid twitches at the same time as ES and introduced magnesium chloride in my diet and this fixed everything.
In those days no one talked about electrolyte imbalance but about excess fat and protein.
It is now established that lowering insuline causes release of water retention and electrolytes at the same time which is a point on which SD Phinney insists as the cause for “Keto flu”.
Of course in our high insulin metabolic syndrome society threatened by high BP, salt is to be avoided. This is a second prejudice to be overcome. Eating fat and salt at table is a source of great concern for our knowledgable relatives, specially if they hear that our LDL cholesterol has gone high.

This topic is difficult for me because I don't have a background in physiology. Would you make content about proper hydration i.e daily water intake, water intake while training, electrolytes, making water from fat, etc? Sorry for my English, it's my second language.

Hey all i have an issue......I started getting sore and stiff really easy and then a few times broke a sweat at work. The other night i was cramping up so bad i could sleep well. I got up and drank an electrolyte packet in a 16oz bottle of water. But the next day im still stiff and a bit crampy. Tired and in a bit of a daze. All while taking all the suppliments you were speaking of in terms of multi-vitamins as well as a potassium and eat a banana each day of work. A Potassium then another that has a mix of the daily allowances of Calium-Maganesium-zinc, as well as an electrolyte packet each day in a 16oz water. So can someone ,overdue electrolytes? HELP??? A few times i have come home from work and am just so tired and cramping up , im about to give up and try to retire? Im not even 60 yet!

One of the WORST. Thing that doctors tell people is no salt or low salt diet and low-fat or no-fat we need the salt to regulate the electrolytes and doctors have not been trained as well as they should have been when it comes to nutrition I think they only put in a few hours or 10 hours I don't know what it is but my doctor is starting to get smarter and he's promoting things that will help he is an advocate of let's meat but he won't say to me no salt. And we have about 75% fat in our brain and any woman that is on a low fat diet will suffer PMS drastically. Because they need that fat for a whole year I had no butter no margarine nothing and I had the worst PMS I thought how can anybody live with me but as soon as I started having butter in my diet not margarine I was giving my brain what it needed fat.

Its weird trying to figure out if ur dehydrated/low electrolytes or over hydrated/high electrolytes. The symptoms are so similar. The Dr told me he thought I was dehydrated bt I knew I had been drinking water and electrolytes excessively for a while bc I was training hard. All my levels were in normal range so I'm still not sure if I should cut way back or keep drinking like I am and just cut back exercise some. 😡

I have been taking electrolytes LMNT and Celtic salt in my water for a while. I still have symptoms. I am carnivore for past 3 years. I recently added some fruit to see if it would improve my symptoms…nothing has. I don’t have major cramping but I do have cramping in my feet if I stretch them. Yesterday just got a cramp in my thigh. I would up my electrolytes…but can’t you have these symptoms if you get too much? I don’t know if I should up electrolytes or quit them? I need to prob have bloodwork…but I haven’t yet. 😮

Yeah, just drink extra water as he was probably mildly dehydrated ... when the kidneys filter out water, electrolytes go out with it ... but be careful, serum levels are tightly regulated and are not the same as tissue levels ...

I used to drink very little water, now i drink

    low carb carnivorous diet.
I have always eaten a lot of salt (both table salt
from foods and himalayasalt/celtic seas salt as
    an additive to my foods)
    My symptoms are:
    - fast heart rate
    - short-lasting stabbing pains in my heart
    - fatigue
    - lethargy
    - constipation
    - pain in upper right abdominals
    - pain in my stomach

    - severe anxiety and panic attacks
    - Dizziness
    - Constantly thirsty
    - Fever (sometimes)
    - Trouble consentrating
    - Bad memory
    - Frequent urinating
The migraines, dizziness and the pain in my
heart and upper abdominals are new symptoms,
all the others i've had for a while.
So my question is what electrolytes are low and
what is high, should i drink more or less water
and should i eat more or less salt?
I can't afford any supplements and i can't go to
a doctor to check my electrolytes due to the
    coronavirus problem.

I think I've got this after losing fluids during a water fast with gastrointestinal issues that I had. I'm taking electrolyte powder after resuming a normal diet but two weeks on and I still have this problem. My symptoms are raging insomnia, twitchy muscles near the eyes, palpitations at certain times of the day, weakness.. The worst of these is the insomnia. I'm concerned I may have alkaline blood issues as well. I'm not sure apple cider vinegar is sufficient alone to fix this. How long does it take to heal this condition? You never mention.

I would make sure your potassium to sodium ratio is 4 to 1. Most people are generally experiencing the opposite of that, where sodium is four times the amount of the potassium. Eating one or two avocados and having 16 oz of coconut water everyday or having a few cups of beet tops and /spinach with the avocado will do absolute wonders for you.
