I still cannot believe that the voters of Tennessee had to vote their representatives back into office. That still makes my head spin. The voters most be livid that they had to do that. This is why voters should have control of whether a representative or senator (state or federal) gets removed by a recall vote. We should be able to recall our politicians in these chambers BUT I do think it should require MORE votes from the voters than a "simple majority". It should be something like 2/3 or 3/4 to "recall" a politician instead of waiting for their fellow politicians to boot them for an ethics violation or other issue. We, the people, should be able to RECALL our reps and/or senators (state & federal). As it stands now, once their in there, only their fellow politicians can remove them. That isn't right.
That's how we know Republicans want to deprive us of our votes & how precious our votes must be if they are trying so hard to negate them. It is reprehensible! It is also CHEATING!
They probably had an opposing candidate that was worse.

I think a lot of people who voted for Trump, 2016 &/or 2020 ,say one thing but, vote blue because they are embarrassed or don't want to admit they fell for this "Con Man". @@godfathaofyo You could have figured that out yourself, but here goes. There's only so much Dems can do in 2,5 years. Particularly with a slim Senate majority (and remember Sinema & Manchin) and not having the House anymore. Also, the US is easily the most libertarian modern nation, with (pathetically) weak laws to pretect people as employees, patients, consumers, renters etc. from corporate greed. More over... half of the post-covid inflation was caused by businesses raising prices much higher than necessary. Add to that the latest round of tax cuts for the rich and corporations under Trump, so the nation didn't get much of all that extra money. And if you so happen to live in a red state... there Dems can't do much of anything at all.
The US is a massive ship that can only very slowly change course, and I am not so sure it can still be steered away from "socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the rest" abyss. As Republicans would say "Bootstraps!".

The Supreme Court overturning roe v wade, and the subsequent GOP attempts to ban abortion, was the biggest mistake they could've made. Anyone who didn't believe that a party would actually come for their rights got a rude awakening.

News media needs WAY more pieces like this. Not just because it contains hopeful news (for once) but also, and more importantly, because it contains informative and contextualized and actual news. It’s not just a ratings grab or for the clicks; it’s actually trying to inform the public about things that are happening. I will just add that the lead up to the midterms could have been seen coming a mile away if anyone in the media bothered to look at anything happening more recently than five, six decades ago for longer than a few seconds… I mean, I’m a big historical context/trend guy myself but that can’t be the ONLY thing looked at. Hilary Clinton actually would have been the first woman President if the 2016 elections would have been honest the election was rigged in Red and Purple States including election interference by VLAD THE KILLER and The Russians before the 2020 Presidential Election the Federal Election Commission made changes to how Federal Elections are held to try and insure honest Elections the result Trump lost the Presidential Election in a much more honest and fair Election than in 2016 also people came out in record numbers to vote in 2020
Blacks did not get out and vote for Killary like they voted for Bill Clinton, I really don't know why, she came off kind of entitled, you could tell the campaign was taking a toll on her, stumbling and fainting about to fall boarding the plane, catching the flu, not campaigning enough in bread basket Central plains states like her hubby suggested, and the Benghazi hearings right before the election killed her momentum but she won the popular vote.

So it would be individual Secretaries just deciding for themselves. Is that really a precedent we want to set? Besides, SCOTUS will never let it stand anyway. Anybody talking about fighting, even metaphorically, does not quite understand it. There seem to be many folks in the US (and other nations) who are afflicted that way. They must be opposed relentlessly with maximum vigor and without undue hesitation or pause. Unfortunately, opposition is much more hard work than conflict.
It is inconvenient and i could not make it to special election(was having car work done). As far as i know no mail in ballot in this state for an able body(I vote Democrat almost always).
The government of the USA has never been a democracy. Our Founding Fathers understood that a democracy would lead to mob rule and anarchy. As such, they rejected that form of government and instead they adopted a federal constitutional republic. Anyone in the USA fighting for democracy is fighting against the values of the USA. So no, they’re not heroes.

Well the data shows that polls were historically accurate in 2022 midterms per 538. We also didn’t have unpopular candidates in these special-elections.
