Heavy Matrix influenced, the gun stash, the lobby.
I had the same feeling. Gun shelves and then pillar splinters in the lobby.
Indubidly. That is the first thing I thought of in the gun hall
You don't say!
Matrix is first thing I thought of when I saw that lobby. Excellent!
@@AB0BA_69 oh so you can see now? Interesting, I thought you were blind.
This map is a reference to Killer7 (mixed with some Matrix), which is one of those weird mindfuck games that are hard to recommend but have the potential to end up on your GOAT list. At the end of each of the 8 or 9(?) chapters, you have to pass through the "Vinculum Gate" that looks just like in this map with the voodoo doll as the gatekeeper. It always leads to the same colosseum with its many different doors. Each chapter the path leads you through a different door with a different challenge behind it.
The music (Rave On) is also from Killer7, and it plays during the transition between the vinculum gate and the colosseum. The funny thing is, it's the best song in the game. But when you are playing normally, you will only ever hear the first 5 seconds of it because the transition is so short.
Killer7 is a criminally underrated game
Cool. Thanks!
it's worth mentioning that killer7 is a Suda51 game, who could be described as "if david lynch was *really* into pro wrestling"
I wouldnt call Killer7 hard to recommend. Moreso hard to convince people to actually try.
Destructable pillars is like the single coolest thing I've seen in doom.
And it's the Lobby from The first Matrix movie, complete with "Guns! I need lots of guns!". Very cool indeed
I've played this mod through four or five times now and I never realized you could do that, that is cool as hell.
1:55 I believe the map creator is trying to recreate the lobby gunfight from *The Matrix,* with the pillars being blown apart and the partial invisibility to equate to bullet dodging (maybe?). 9:06 this is like the multi pane of glass Zhora ran through when Deckard killed her.
Yes, the Matrix reference is pretty obvious like the three archviles being the Agents, etc.
However, the second observation you raised is interesting and something I never considered before. hmmm
Maps that make good use of partial invisibility always make me happy, and the design of that portal room was stunning.
In the name of Harman …
This one is _so fun._ Not only is it a very inspired reference to both Matrix and Killer7, it's a very engaging map on its own right. Probably the most compelling map in the whole wad, and AUGER;ZENITH is in itself pretty compelling, so you can see how much I mean with this statement.
The red key fight is the only kinda 'meh' one, artistically if not in gameplay - dodging misaimed Cybie rockets will never not be stressful. I'm an "eat the salad before the main dish", so I always tackle it first.
The yellow key fight plays nicely with the invulnerabilities, the barrels, damaging floor and darkness. The spiders can be an afterthought or a source of barrel-blast deaths, and the mass of Barons can cut you off unless you actively herd them. And with how you need to make use of backlighting to see enemies and barrels in the safe dry center... Very memorable, wish more wads used this gimmick.
Now, be real, nothing trumps the blue key fight. I'm a _sucker_ for destructive scenery and slaughter, so I roll in this kind of arena like a pig in fresh mud! 😂 And the barrels inside the pillars add a lot of strategic value with how much face they wreck, so they make the chaingun especially important since the shotguns only break one layer of concrete per shot no matter what. Extremely creative. I'd even argue that it would be better had you _not_ been given a rocket launcher before entering, so they're your main way to cull groups of demons.
And since I'm silly and love to make my own games painfully hard, guess who tested Eviternity's Annihilators (both v1 and v2) in this wad, with friendly fire immunity among themselves. Guess how hard they make this level.
This map just reminded me, this year is the 25th anniversary of The Matrix. I feel ancient right now.
I never thought I'd see a Killer7 reference in a Doom WAD. Awesome
decino became the one. 😎
Not your typical Auger Zenith map, just good arcade fun with a few very cool twists. Refreshing!
Already having played this through on Hurt Me Plenty and currently replaying on Ultra Violence, I surprised myself with how well I was doing right until this map! I think I clocked in at least 10 deaths just to the Cybies, and the destructible room was slaying me - I need to try it again with your tactic! Bravo Pumpkinman
"There's a glitch in the matrix."
How do you know?
"decino picked up the chainsaw."
Always happy to see Killer7 referenced in the wild
Yeah Auger;Zenith kind of removed its training wheels around map 13-14, you're going to have a blast with the remaining maps.
Also, another banger of a soundtrack as usual :D
It took me many attempts at UV difficulty to get through that first fight and you breezed through it :O Skilled pumpkin man is skilled! Goed gedaan 👍
I highly appreciate the stacked barrels and seeing Barons killed by them.
Decino never fails to give me my daily dose of fent.
I checked playlists, we still have 7 prerecorded vids from pumpkin man
It’s the matrix! 😍🤩🥳
haha I forgot that this mapset uses Rave On from Killer7
Slowly but surely the grumpy, reactionary old man in me i starting to really love this wad.
I'm curious, what would happen if someone didn't kill the Cyberdemons in the red key room quickly enough?
I think nothing. It probably refers to the time until the door opens so you can escape.
Nothing, only the blursphere runs out and it becomes easier to dodge.
coincidentally played this map today, and got my first all ghosts bug occurence
Luckily save + load fixes it.
01:01 decino regrets being the Road Runner! 😂
I did not expect an homage to The Matrix (the movie of my people) in my daily Doom video, but here we are.
Don't know Killer7... the Matrix reference in this one is obvious and I guess the Chaingunner spam fits. There seems to be no penalty for taking over a minute in the red key fight, which is quite brilliant all things considered: you stress out even more for absolutely nothing 😂
No penalty at all beyond not 100%ing kills if you leave early as soon as the door opens. I assume that takes about a minute, though I've always found myself too busy to actually time it...
@@OhShitSeriously Oh, of course, it literally means you have a minute to kill. I read it as some cryptic 'minute to we kill you'
I made the same mistake you did and assumed the map was going to be an hour plus but seeing the 10 minute runtime of the video made it pretty clear
I see the blue key fight and think "there is no spoon"!
A short map, but really sweet. The design of the map is also very strong.
Ah, you did the funni cyber room last. Yeah that one is memorable.
This was a really fun level. The cyber demon area was a bit... lackluster compared to the rest, but the rest being A++ makes up for it.
Personal favourite area was the (almost entirely) monochrome one, from a purely stylistic standpoint. Combat wise the Matrix hallway was definitely the bees knees.
I really had alot of trouble in that Archvile fight, either by being trigger happy (most of the time) or blowing myself up by accident from those Pain Elementals.
Great video! :)
Love the frantic levels like this. That spider and baron fight room was pretty trippy, though.
I'm surprised destructible pillars or other objects isn't more common in doom, it's a great idea.
Not only does destroying the pillars in this map blow up the barrels, it also destroys your cover.
I could imagine an area similar to this (with out that first room to hide in) with waves of monsters alternating with archviles, where you need to fight aggressively to stop the monsters killing you, but if you aren't careful you gradually destroy the only cover you have for fighting the archviles.
More maps like that please.
Yeah this map is difficult in further on other maps as well coming by soon. Honestly, this feels pretty fun and I don't usually say things when it comes to slaughtering unfun scenario type. I do like this map for what it is. At least each challenge for getting keys is fun to do. I also do love the Pillars of destructions as it helps out many times to take out ton of enemies around you.
Now go upstairs and talk to Agent Smith.
It's friday night.
Always a great video thanks pumpkin man
😂 that oh no ummm when you grab the chainsaw by mistake
If decino doesn't die in the matrix room he will be a legend
You you survived the room on your first try and made it look to east. Legend. I had to reload alot
I really enjoy your gameplay videos. Thank you for all the content, pumpkin man.

That forced invisibility grab against 2 cybers - nasty
Haha you went straight for the hardest fight 😅 it was a bit tough yeah, but manageable.
Decino: I need guns, lots of guns!
Chainsaw:🤪
The MIDI here was lit! Also the stylistic choices were quite interesting as well.
I think it's inspired on Top Gear theme (german version) but i'm not sure
@@tornado100able Nope. The MIDI is explained below. German Top Gear, haha.
@@tornado100able nah it is Masafumi Takada - Rave On from the Killer 7 OST
@@RussianSevereWeatherVideos My bad then, i never heard about this game.
Omg Killer 7 Soundtrack -> Rave On, I'm hyped!
Yo the killer 7 influence and midi is so fucking good
Tempest Enterprise also have a similar gimmick of running against the time. You have 6 minutes to finish the level after some point but you still need to kill lilke 300 enemies before exiting for UV-MAX
Funny how I didn't see this until the day after I started playing Killer7.
This makes me want a whole Killer7 themed WAD.
Nice run pumpkin man
This one had some really cool ideas for arenas
Good thing for the two invulnerabilities at the yellow key. Made it breezier than it had to be.
Today I learned Decino has never seen the Matrix
I did over 20 years ago.
someone gift killer 7 to decino asap
"Only when his smile is gone will we remember it"
What in the Shawn Michaels is that quote 😂
Oh I have been **waiting** for this
...although to be fair, usually I play with fast monsters 😉
This is a great map and the fights provide good challenge... Later part of A;Z is actually pretty challenging compared to the previous maps (except for MAP06 and MAP13).
beatiful the plasma ASMR
The symbol looks like the Vinculum in Star Trek Voyager.
That lobby fight took me 10 tries on HMP and decino just decimates it on a blind UV run...
The Matrix homage is why I don't feel even a little bad about using a movement mod for all it's worth in the lobby fight. I couldn't do it at all with fast monsters otherwise, for one thing, and for another, it's on theme! 😂
It would have been great that the last bluesphere forces you to take another partial invisibility, and that when the time is gone, vodoo doll kill it is!
Eviternity 2 playthrough when uncle decino? You said no to 32 level megawads but not 37 UwU
lol, I don't think it's in his plans.
Fun Level. 💀 Pew, Pew, Pew❗🔫🎃
Cuppy always delivers.
The sections of this map kindof remind me of the cyberspace sections in System Shock 1
Matrix references..love it...
Cool!
Hello ! good video for everywone !
Was that just a Matrix reference? Wow, you need quite an imagination to mix Matrix with OG Doom
That one was hard.
Nice, some experimental sh#t
its the matrix mixed with sonic the hedgehog
It's all gold nuggets from here onward.
Finally the first not that that means jack crap. Great job Decino!
brutal map in compare to earlier maps :D
Are those pole dancing CyberDemons? PS. What happens when you fail the , kill in 1 minute challenge?
Nothing.
How come you’re not playing with fast monsters?
Only a fool would play a mapset blind with fast monsters enabled.
You didn't get any of the secrets though 😮
What happens if you fail to kill the cyber demons before the partial invisibility runs out?
Nothing.
103
Decino: complains about a "nasty fight"
Map gives him blue armor and 3 superchargers for the fight
C'mon man, that was a cakewalk! 😂
First comment. Sorry everyone I couldn’t help myself.
not by a few seconds.

@@zanclawpyro oh really?
@@namefamily2748 It's kinda obvious
@@zanclawpyroidk, the serious sam TFE playthrough was a fun and well-received one if i recall
Guns. Lots of guns.
I had an annoying amount of issue with the matrix fight on my first run, not realizing that the pillars had stacked barrels in them. Subsequent playthroughs that fight fucks. Very cyberpunky map, quite enjoyable.
Killer7 is the greatest game of all time, you will never change my mind on this
Doom's pretty guud too though :^)
