Gerry and Shay clash in Archon Studio's Masters of the Universe: Battleground. As it returns to Gamefound for a new campaign we thought it was a great time to check out this skirmish boardgame based on the classic cartoon and see how it plays on the tabletop.

Shay brings Skeletor and his dastardly evil henchmen to attack Gerry's valiant Masters of the Universe in this skirmish through ancient ruins on the epic world of Eternia to determine its destiny! The game is quick to play and allows list-building alongside deck-building to offer a range of tactical and strategic choices for the players. In this learning game, the guys have built their own 100 point teams but are using the basic pre-constructed decks to get a feel for the game.
What do you make of the game, it seems to offer up a wealth of replay with a huge amount flexibility within the factions, all while letting Gerry hum the theme tune in his head!

Hello i love watching your videos :3 i was just wanting to point out that at 19:00 Ram Man was supposed to roll 1 dice to defend against Skeletors Magic blast since you use your mind stat for defense against magic attacks not his 4 Toughness stat which would be used against physical attacks.
Why on earth would they not put the models on hex bases if facing is important?! Seems like an obvious design requirement on a hex board
There's a notch on the mini to indicate where it's facing. I get your point tho
Is the game only played on that one board with only that wall terrain or are there different boards and terrain pieces?
I think in wave 2 theres a box set that has a different board/terrain and I think the character packs come with small terrain pieces.

Hi Gerry. On the moves with Ram Man and Orko, did you forget to double the action cost? Or does a focus move followed by a normal move, mean the normal move doesn't count double? Or am I over-thinking this!
I don't think so, on both occasions I used glory cards with bonus activation as the secondary part of the card, it's why ram never had any mana he had high activations instead.
@Gerrcinn thanks for clarifying. Appreciate the run through. Time for me to get my group playing it. The game is a lot of fun, and I think reasonably priced.
Can you play with more than 2 players?
I've been looking into this game. Think it can go up to 4
The rule sheet in wave 5 added team combat of 2v2 at 75 points per player instead of 100 like in a 1v1. And you are still limited to the same faction per team, so you can't have He-Man & Skeletor team up to take on Hordak & King Hsss
