Julia, you are such a fantastic teacher! I am just now catching up with all of your tutorials. i have just purchased a Janome 9480 and now, rather than being intimidated by such a sophisticated machine, I can’t wait to get started! I am living abroad, and while almost everyone speaks English and I speak my second language, things are never quite as clear as in my native English. Your clear presentations and demonstrations, as well as your humour make every tutorial a real pleasure. As an added note, I bought my first Janome, a MemoryCraft 6000, in 1984 and it has given me 40 years of problem-free sewing pleasure. If things have ever gone wrong while sewing, I have always known it was me and not my 6000! But with aging eyes, the time has come for better needle threading, lighting and simplified functions. Fingers crossed that the 9480 will give me as much joy. And thank you for your wonderful tutorials!

    Didn’t know this existed.
Had a 607 since before covid. I use it for quilting, mostly for Linus and need to learn more about free machining. Currently I quilt using built in stitches but they can take a lot of thread and also time.
    Here’s to learning more

Sone of the earlier videos are on the M200 or the 5270QDC both of which work on Modes in the same way which should help but if you have any questions on this or previous videos specific to your machine please do ask in the comments! I don't have all the models in my sewing room I'm afraid so I've tried to go with a mix but happy to help.xx

Something with a bit of polyester in it usually works best as it's stronger so less likely to snap.Maybe a Gutermann AllSew? Xx

I own a Vintage Singer, Janome (older model) and new Baby Lock machine - all have the capacity of lowering your feed dogs, giving you the control of the fabric - but every time I switch between the models I have to refresh myself on how THAT particular machine works - so simply check your manual, and then give yourself a few shortcuts for the next time. This video shows various feet to use for the FME which I am going to look into after such great info - but just have fun with it! I usually use a hoop while doing this, but your hands alone can work just fine. Enjoy =)

Yes it us.Check your instruction book. I think there is a button to slide across at the back of the machine but it will tell you in the book. Xx
