Julia, I’ve tried to program my 9480 sewing machine with stitchcombinations and stitchwidth. Thank you for your tutorials about using those stitches. It makes me using the user manual more to try the possibilities of this great machine. Your tutorials are very helpful and it’s no problem if users don’t have the same model of Janome sewing machines. The only difference is that you need the possibilty of the machine for making stitch combinations and memory in a machine. Really fantastic to learn this by watching your great tutorials. ❤❤

I love the fact that Janome offer so many different options for different tasks. I love the clear view foot but like you I tend to use this without the guide . My favourite quarter inch foot is the HP foot and HP plate .

I just don’t know what model to get. I’ve searched and compared but it’s baffling! I thought John Lewis would be a good option but do they call the machines different names?!?! Hiya take a look at the Sewist 725s it's a mechanical so no speed control but the body is good and heavy so great for curtains and also free motion. If there is somewhere nearby you can get to to try a couple out that would be really useful. On the Janome UK website there is a guide to buying a sewing machine which tells you what all the different things actually mean (easier then to know if you need them or not!) I'll put the link here www.janome.co.uk/

I own a Vintage Singer, Janome (older model) and new Baby Lock machine - all have the capacity of lowering your feed dogs, giving you the control of the fabric - but every time I switch between the models I have to refresh myself on how THAT particular machine works - so simply check your manual, and then give yourself a few shortcuts for the next time. This video shows various feet to use for the FME which I am going to look into after such great info - but just have fun with it! I usually use a hoop while doing this, but your hands alone can work just fine. Enjoy =)

I've ordered one to double check as it does say for high shank but want to check how it sits with the feed dogs etc. If you are thinking about it because of it's narrowness for certain jobs don't forget the straight stitch \HP foot that you have which is great for narrow jobs(as always though double check your needle position and stitch plate before sewing.
