“The Exorcist: Believer is a throwback to early psychological horror movies that I watched as a kid and inspired me. I can’t wait for you all to watch in theaters on Friday, October 13.”

Since 1973 and THE EXORCIST remains No1. End of discussion.
Going back to the same makeup and the same demonic sounds, is a great choice! The makeup in the original 1973 movie, can stand up to any makeup/cgi effect to this day! It still is one of the movies that can give me chills, as soon as the music plays!
Yes! The original score for the film, the piano into will always conjure the new original film.
Ah, we will watch it either way.
Dick Smith was one of the best makeup artists to ever live.
@@Mulder-Scully First of all I LOVE THE NAME!!! I'm a giant X Files fan! Secondly, Dick was amazing and what he did in the Industry was pure genius. Thanks for the comment my friend! Much appreciated. Take care! 🙏♥️

@vannaty7 someone's mentally ill eh?
Almost 50 years later. And the original is still scary til this day.
When I watch the original Exorcist today, I can't help but laugh at most of the movie. Not at the horror parts, but at the everybody smokes part. So weird to see doctors smoking in their own offices without a care in the world. I just find it funny.
@@adamjones-ps Ik it’s all the way in the 70s, but I gotta ask: Did u laughs at the part where she grabbed the guy’s nuts? Ngl that part was act mad funny. 💀
It's hard to top the horror of a girl pounding a crucifix into herself. Even if they tried now, everyone would just say that they were ripping off The Exorcist
Exactly Right. The atmospheric layers of the original can never be topped.
Remember Richard Burton as the priest. The raven and the fall winds blowing in the cemetery.
Saw it at the theatre years after it was originally released. Something to be said about the big screen compared to watching it at home.
original fuckin sucks, it has not aged well at all.. panzy ass
The theme music "Tubular Bells" came out almost a year before the movie. It didn't do well at first, but when it was chosen for The Exorcist it's sales shot through the roof. One time I scared the shit out of my roommates by playing it on my keyboard in the corner of the living room in the house we were renting. The lights were off and it was dark out and when the walked in I started playing it.
I'm sure they were really scared...
The original movie came out in 1973 during that time you wouldn’t have seen anything like it, in those days monsters were well known for vampires and werewolves and sea creatures but then all of a sudden we are witness to a little girl being possessed by a demon and jamming a crucifix into herself while repeatedly saying “Let Jesus F*ck you” it’s a movie that made people question there beliefs….
It’s safe to say that kind of controversy and horror will never be experienced again but if this movie is driven by the charactere rather than the shock value then you’ve already made a good Sequel and better than 90% of possession movies.
IT STRENGTHENED MINE!
I agree 100% with ya. The psychological part of the original Exorcist movie is what makes it scary.
Stay well my friend.

True, The Exorcist still scares the shit out of me to this day
@@mysteryplayer11thelordofde31 I just hope it isn't full of CGI. Looks good so far though 🤞
1973 simple no constant jumpscare sound effect , just plain slow transformation that leaves nightmares as it could and actually happened anywhere anytime
The way i started crying 😢 when i realized this was a sequel to one horror movie that has ever traumatized me
Love the callback to the original unreleased trailer! The one that was “too scary for the audiences to see”. 😂
What’s the call back?
@@Seph_visiont's the last part of the trailer in which it flashes in black and white to an almost seizure like strobe (thankfully not too intense), the unreleased trailer (The Exorcist) in question was banned because of those reasons and because it was too intense at the time.
That part was wicked. That banned trailer legitimately made me uncomfortable, so cool to see it recreated.
Good catch!
For those who haven't seen the original "banned/unreleased" trailer for The Exorcist 1973: czcams.com/video/6XuB8DJ0AI8/video.html
The best horror movie of all time is back! Nothing beats the 1973 movie, but this one I can't wait to see this soon!!!
Exorcist III comes damn close though.
@@EpicJasonX9000fuckyeah i love the exorcist III my personal favorite srcond place comes the original.:D
The best horror movie of all time is back? What the hell does that even mean? Only if you're talking about The Exorcist 4k 50th anniversary edition...
Looks like every other horror movie from the last 6 years .
Jump scares , crazy walking , shaking head real fast.
Persons face looks different and evil for a split second.
@@EpicJasonX9000Lol settle down, sparky. Exorcist 3 is good but nowhere near the greatest.
First time in more than a decade that a trailer for a thriller makes me want to watch the film. It looks genuinly scary and i am not scared easily.
Same
Spoiler it’s not
Honestly when i saw the name i was, as expected, completly unimpressed since there are a thousand "the exorcist" films but after having watched the trailer i am scared af and completly expecting this release, and it's perfectly set for pirating it for halloween so yeah!
2:49 Reminds me of the original Exorcist banned trailer back in 1973 - Nothing will beat the all time classic, but pretty curious and stoked about this one!
It had me at first thinking it was gonna be a suspenseful crime thriller, and then the chilling Exorcist theme started playing and i go…oh…😳.
Anyone else had this play before Oppenheimer?
It was such a big surprise and I'm already sold on the premise
genuinely was spooked by this trailer
I thought it was a regular movie until I heard the first small piano riff
Not in my theater sadly. Might see that preview when I see it again
Yeah it was crazy
The first sequel tells an alternate way of an exorcism, the second sequel tells what happened after Karras's death. The prequels tell alternate tales of Merrin's first fight against evil. This is when evil grows and the past is called. I love how at the end of the trailer it pays homage to the banned trailer. It feels like a tale of the Exorcist in the 21st century, and it's terrifying in all the right way possible!
It's gonna suck so why are you wasting time typing useless bullshit
The OG is the greatest horror movie ever made. This looks promising. But so did Halloween Ends. Look how that turned out.
To be honest, Halloween Ends didn't look promising to me at all lmao
Halloween Ends was great ...your probably bitter due to it wasn't like Halloween kills💀

Tubular bells is one of Mike Oldfield best works , what a debut
Wow, hearing "Tubular Bells" again gave me goosebumps.
Ellen Burstyn, 90 years old and still working. Very cool.
Be so boss to hear them say
"Regan, weve been waiting for you"
Went to see Oppenheimer and didn’t think I’d see this. Was genuinely disturbed and surprised by this
I can't wait for sure. Im not sure how i feel about the double possession. I think focusing on one at time is better but this is definitely unique
I think they'll make it work. Considering that the girls are two close friends I'm guessing that it will be something along the lines of two demons working in tandem with each other
Honestly to many movies have been focusing on one
@@h.a.3954 exactly, people just want the same stuff recycled it seems
@@Alvaramirez-mb4jd What do you mean?
@@Alvaramirez-mb4jd How is it woke? It's literally just two little girls who are friends because they happened to go to the same school, and sumptuously had common interests with one another
A lot of people dislike the trailer but you have to admit the nostalgia hits when the theme plays alongside the black and white flashes. Nice callback to the original Exorcist Trailer
I know when I saw the trailer for the Oppenheimer movie and theme started playing very lightly it got me pumped.
Personally, I’m a big fan of par three. Mainly because it has a lot more to talk about when it comes to mental health. And I like part 4 better because it takes place in Africa. Not to mention that was one hell of an epic exorcism in that.
I AM SCREAMING !! ONLY THE OG EXORCIST FANS will have goosebumps at the soundscore and the SAMEE CAST AND ELEMENTS IN THE TRAILER AND MOVIES !!
I actually screamed "Holy 💩!!" when I saw Ellen Burstyn reprising her role!
Yes, because the dude who completed trashed the bed with the last two Halloween movies is the right guy to make an Exorcist film. I'm not entirely against this one yet but I do not have faith in David Gordon Green to make something worth watching
This one gets it.
I know right. This is apparently also a trilogy. Maybe this first movie is really good and the other two are complete trash just like Halloween.
@@Hexentric8
Evil dies tonight 😅
Wonder if this movie will keep saying the line “50 years ago” like they kept doing in Halloween kills with the “40 years ago” references 😂
After I saw Halloween ends I grew an appreciation for Halloween kills
Noticed how the trailer does the pause and fade edit like the original's trailer, and Tubular Bells!👌
With the rise of supernatural/possession films this past decade, 'twas matter of time before we see a new Exorcist film, new thread, new trilogy stemming from the '73 in time for its 50th anniversary, black and white, duality is a neat approach #TheExorcist #TheExorcistBeliever
the kid's acting was phenomenal!
The trailer looks better than I was expecting. I’ll give it a chance for sure. I’m hoping for the best!
That iconic music immediately boosts the quality of the picture....love the tease of a few notes at first.
Having Ellen Burstyn reprise her role - smart move. Hope it pays off.
Exorcism flicks are getting like the zombie craze a couple years ago, so it better be good.
Noticed they used linda Blair's voice???
No, no it was not a smart move.
What I'm really looking forward to is what Linda Blair's role is going to be in this first movie OR will she just make a post credit scene? She's signed on to be a part of the next movie, Exorcist Deceiver due in 2024, and the third movie as well. Should be wicked. Like the Believer, Deceiver, sequel names. What will the 3rd be? Revealer?
Blumhouse doing The Exorcist at the beginning of October and FNAF at the end!! Cannot wait!!!!
When it's in BW the girls look almost identical to Linda Blairs take. Would be amazing if they did a black and white version when it comes out on Blu Ray.
That’s a reference to the original exorcist trailer that was black and white and had seizure-inducing flashes. I think it was banned. The soundtrack for that trailer is also frightening.
Man, seeing these movies prior to having kids of your own hit different than seeing them after you have kids. Things you say you would never do....yeah you would, to save your child.
That part where she was screaming for help in the hospital. I can't stand to see my son crying when he goes for a check-up at the doctor crying, looking at me for help.
Chills. Right when the theme song started
Whoa you guys……that looks pretty scary! I can’t wait!
The power of Christ compels you!!🙏
Positively nerve-jangling. Very excited for this new trilogy.
I love this movie, tha 1973 the exorcist is still the best horror movie.
Oh god, Really hope this Exorcist movie can make people watching it have the same experience people had when they watched the original. Either way, Im ready to believe BABY!
Well that'll never happen. People were running out of the theater screaming. But at least it can hit like the conjuring films
I am waiting for a Horror film to come along and do just that, but it needs to be something completely new.
It won’t really though. Modern audiences are very desensitised to most things. In the 70s, people had not experienced anything close to the Exorcist and were absolutely terrified beyond measure.
I do remember when Paranormal Activity came out and they were using genuine audience reactions as part of the trailer. That was pretty cool.
omg this looks so awesome possing two young girls at the same time that's gonna be very difficult and seeing the OG actress come back very nice but the OG movie will still be a great movie
Everything’s been watered down these days. Don’t disappoint.
God Damn... this actually gave me the chills 😂😂😂😂
Same! And it's really weird because almost nothing scares me LOL. They must have some kind of magic in these movies that make us feel genuinely creeped out 😂😂
@pa5666 🤣🤣🤣 it's so unsettling, it reminds me of Hereditary... and that movie wasn't scary, but it was so eerie, i could feel my back hairs stand up and thats the vibe i got from this 😅
Wow blum house is packed with a lot of Halloween treatment this year, first five nights at Freddy and now this, this is gonna be the best Halloween ever considering both films to be released in October.
I just had to watch the whole trailer, but glad I did. Looks good 👍
I wish this entire film was made in a grainy black and white, looks creepier
This may be the craziest trailer I have ever seen and I can't wait to see this.
I feel like they gave this to a low budget studio.
I am very surprised that Linda Blair didn't make a cameo in this one. Now that would have taken it to another level
Whenever it came out , wherever I see it , it just can be okay movie.

An ok trailer for a sequel that no one asked for. It won't even come close to the original but I'm happy to be proven wrong
The mom from the original is still alive?!! That’s amazing! Can’t wait to see this
I wish they had brought Linda Blair back even for just a cameo, especially as the mother has quite a big role. I'm sure Reagan will get a mention but she would have given an insight into what the girls them selves are going through while possessed.
Blair will be in this movie also.

This film has a big hill to climb after Halloween Ends. This does look good but I feel we haven’t had a good possession movie like this since The Conjuring 2. Hope they can change that.

I was routing for you! We all were routing for you!
I love that they have two little girls instead of one.
maybe only reason to see it is for Ellen Burstyn's return.
It may be a decent effort, but not really convinced it will be anything substantial. Film audiences today are now exposed to anything and everything and are completely jaded. But in 1973/74, no one had seen anything like The Exorcist. Audiences had no cinematic reference points, real expectations , or derivative tropes to react to like they do today. Not to mention no social media at the time to control any narratives or exploit movies in the wrong way. The Exorcist set the standard and any attempts to match it are a waste of time! It was a successful book - which is also well written and terrifying - but no one really knew what to expect when the movie came out. The existing mainstream media at the time covered this and it became a cultural event, where word of mouth and stories of people's shocked and horrified reactions created an anticipation response that for some was overwhelming. People were afraid to see it, afraid of what their own reactions might be. Yet they couldn't resist, the reputation absolutely preceeded it with huge lines at theaters and sold out shows. Up to this point in cinematic history, "horror" films were not taken seriously, with the exception of Rosemary's Baby. But this was a film with a prestige pedigree, based on a renowned novel, and a great, albeit not well known at the time, cast, which only added to the sense of realism. And helmed by a young, talented Oscar winning director. So the material was taken seriously, made in an era when filmmakers were working on another artistic plane entirely. The films of the 1970s are unparalleled - only matched by the 1930s, but for completely different reasons. So what people got when they went to see The Exorcist was really not a horror film, but what the director called a spiritual mystery. An examination of good vs evil and a meditation on faith, especially with in the modern world. Stylistically, it is grounded in reality, which makes it all the more viscerally frightening because many people looked at it as something that could actually happen. Shot in a cold, clinical documentary style, The Excorcist understands its own primary
purpose, and its not to shock, though it does do that because that is inate to the story. It presents itself as a realistic depiction of how something like this could manifest and actually happen - if such things do happen at all. Some today would see the pacing of the film as a bit slow, too conditioned by over the top special effects, sledge hammer soundtracks and predictable jump scares, especially in todays era of pervasive ADD. The Exorcist came just before all that and is too well made to need it anyway. It relys on its own well crafted narrative and atmosphere to create a sense of impending dread, and even hopelessness, so that when the shocks and scaries do come - albeit not too soon - they have much more impact. The actual exorcism doesn't even happen until more than half way through the movie. It also plays against type and has interesting contrasts and contradictions. It's actually a quit, somewhat meditative film, with sudden horrendous jolts of sound and shocking moments that leave audiences destabilized. Many said it's not just what you see on the screen that is frightening and overwhelming, but what you hear. The director wisely paced these elements and knew enough to exorcise restraint (pardon the pun), and let the audiences anticipation and own imagination contribute to the frightening experience as well. In other words you have to be thinking too. The movie doesn't shy away from religion and is steeped in Catholicism. Interesting to note that the goodness in the film comes from those in black - the priests. And the evil resides in the light- Regan's white colored nightgown and light hued room for example. Also, The priests succumb to doubting their faith and the mother, who is not religious, actually begins to discover hers, though primarily out of necessity. But that is often how we develop faith in our own lives. In Roger Ebert's positive review of the film at the time, he said, most movies just rest on the screen, The Exorcist does not, it leaps off the screen and assaults you with a sensory arsenal unlike any film before it. 50 years later, the movie not only holds up, but has become a classic, improving with age not only by its own merits but by anything else that has come since! 1:43

I’m just worried that an Exorcist movie coming out now will just be like all the other exorcism demonic possession movies that have been done that past 20 years. Also, Ellen Burstyn’s character performing the exorcism makes no sense.
