      Don’t forget with review units and when reviewers work with companies. They also have contractural talking point retirements for their reviews.
      So that may also be why you’re not seeing specific things mentioned or compared. It could just be how they want their product reviews structured for their intended markets. Doesn’t always mean is just superior. There is a lot of legal behind the scenes with product reviews from sponsored channels and review units.

    Hey Ermin, great job on everything you do. I noticed in this video, you're a a bit shy of what this servo is capable of. Clipping and loss of fidelity only happens if the green clip flat lines. Up and down spikes can exceed the top line here and there and you will still have the all the nuances given. Fantastic job as always my man.

    I think its great news because now game developers will focus more on DD force feedback instead of trying to acccomodate everyone. Raceroom showed the way lately because at least with an SC2 Pro its the best feeling of all now.
    I bet they already have a DD1 replacement in the making because you just need more headroom to avoid clipping.

    I think sabotaging their own high end is a smart thing because those who bought it may have reason to buy another Fanatec product while otherwise they would have kept their base for years. Very good review mate. Can´t wait to get mine shipped in september. Still driving on a hardly modded G29 which is ok, but doesnt give you the level of immersion you have with a DD Wheelbase. Had the chance to test a DD1 a friend of mine owns for an endurance race and its pretty hard to get back to an gear driven wheelbase, having this experience 😂
    We drove the DD1 at around 8Nm, so I think thats pretty much comparable with what the boostkit CSL DD will offer. For me thats enough force, especially for long sessions. The true advantage of DD technology is not the amount of force you can get, but the level of detail it offers. So I think this will do the job very well.

    For those wondering this weighs half the weight of a DD1 and the Thrustmaster T500rs (which I own as well) is half the weight of the CSL DD. I love my DD1 but if your not training and doing track days at you really dont need a DD1. You can add this to a rig build that folds up to put out of the way for less than what a DD1 and wheel cost. The DD1 does NOT come with a wheel. The wheel rims are not cheap either.

    Hey Ermin. I just got a DD1 last month and I'm not sure exactly what all these details are that you keep talking about. Could you do a video about the details you feel with a DD and how they affect your racing?

    • @benjaminsall3271
      @benjaminsall3271 Před 2 lety +1

      I haven’t compared a DD to a DD1 but I’m guessing the extra detail comes from that the DD has lower rotating mass. That means the mass that the DD1 has to rotate is higher that what the DD has to rotate. This is due to the DD1 being bigger and having a heavier shaft. The lower rotating mass will mean that you feel more of the lower forces on a DD wheelbase over a DD1. However some argue that the DD1 is more realistic since real cars also have a high rotating mass with the steering column and all. Hope that makes sense

    • @bigredracingteam9642
      @bigredracingteam9642 Před 2 lety +1

      @@benjaminsall3271 It's the rotational inertia that's important. The mass of the axle won't make much difference. The additional details some people are talking about are most likely because they went with an in-runner motor for the Csl DD.

    i noticed a few changes with the CSL DD that were made on the sneak, the DD1/2 rubber is gone, a potential solution to the flexing issues, many reviewers now have actually said its a bit smoother aswell... another downside of the DD1/2 when compared to competing bases... its like... its like its a little bit too good, i bet if it had a fan built in it would far surpass that 8nm without issue aswell.
    i recently went from a DD1 to a simucube 2 pro and it was quite the eye opening upgrade actually, so bloody smooth and pin sharp quick so no regrets there but i have to give fanatec credit where its due, this is excellent for our hobby and with the inclusion of the QR2 which i can only imagine will knock the socks off the QR1 its going to be one hell of a sim racing tool.

    • @MissedApproachMagpie
      @MissedApproachMagpie Před 2 lety

      Why would a quick release be so impactful. If people are buying entry level dd at $400 what makes you think they have 5 wheels to interchange to be greatly impacted by QR2? Is there something I’m missing?

    • @jinx20001
      @jinx20001 Před 2 lety +1

      @@MissedApproachMagpie well yes... you are missing the part where I said flexing issues. The flexing issues are directly caused by the current quick release due to the natural tolerance required in order to be able to get the wheel on and off, if there was no tolerance you wouldn't be able to remove the wheel reasonably easy so this quick release design means there is a gap, a gap means there is wiggle room, some wheels are worse than others due to the variance in that tolerance which is why some people have bad flex and some people minimal flex.
      Flex is particularly bad for a direct drive because you are taking away its main advantage over belt and cog wheels, belt driven wheels for example feel more dampened than direct drives because when the motor moves and the belts take up the slack before delivering it to your hands through the wheel, the belts are very tight but there is still that minor slack in the system meaning the feedback is not instant and direct.
      A direct drive has no belts and cogs and the wheel is connected directly to the motor so there should be no slack... that is unless you have flexing in the quick release which will soak up some of that power before it reaches your hands.
      Fanatec has one of the smartest and yet worst quick release designs on the market, its super smart because it allows wireless wheels that can be powered by the base meaning you get all the benefits of a wireless system, with none of the negatives like wheels having battery life and limited button inputs over a Bluetooth module but on the other hand it's one of the worst because it lacks solidarity and relies on fragile pins to do the wireless magic.
      Hope that explains it.

    • @jinx20001
      @jinx20001 Před 2 lety

      @@bigredracingteam9642 well im not so sure about that, due to the design there has to be some tolerance, wheels are already pretty tough to take on and off the wheelbase, if the tolerances were any tighter it would make the quick release aspect really difficult, its just not the best QR design really, the rubber is suppose to help with flex by closing that gap in the tolerance when squashed but because its rubber it still has movement in it so its just not great in general as a QR solution and fanatec know it enough they are looking to change it.

I have a full frame motion sim (so everything is moving - but rigid) and the weight the motors must move the platform can be EPIC in Hard Braking into Hard ACCEL. My CSL Elite is pretty heavy, this looks to be lighter. Cost is not really the issue, it's just weight. SO I do appreciate these early reviews.. I currently have a CSL Elite 1.1 that i got for my 1st rig almost a year ago. I have considered the new DD but wasn't sure how much more i'd get out of it. My thinking is that i would find the strength of the FFB to be fine, i don't need to be trying to do a 3 point turn in a Scammell with no power steering. Given this thought i think the 5Nm one would be "strong" enough for me with the option of upgrading to the 8Nm power pack should i decide to at a later date. Your interpretations of the fidelity have, however, pricked up my ears and has taken a step or two forward towards a possible upgrade. I get what you're saying about it just isn't strong enough for you, as it would feel like me turning my FFB off completely. I'd be interested to see a review between the DD and the Elite 1.1as a more favorable comparison. 😄 Great review though.....you might have cost my wife $350 minimum!! 🤣🤣

    Yes it may be the lowest priced DD control unit , but it is the now standard Fanatec Eco system . so the near 500 euro price tag including the boost kit is not for a full wheel and everything else that makes up a setup. once you add their cheaps wheel another 149 euro and basic CSL two pedal set 79 euro shifter 259.95 euro . and a handbrake 129.95 euro all add up to over 1,118.85 euro's .
    so it is still way more expensive than all its mid range rivals most that come with a more ready to run out of the box setup.
    On the flip side it is of course way cheaper than any any other DD system for a full setup and I am guessing a very good stepping stone into the next gen of Podium DD units that will no doubt use the same new internal design for their Higher end units in the near future.
    I am also sure that there will be cheaper ways to build a CSL DD system via buying used Fanatec wheels and pedals as well as a flooded 2nd hand market for Fanatec's old belt driven wheel bases.
    Can and will Thrustmaster bring a cheaper all in one box unit to the market or Logitech anything cheaper is going to be most plastic than metal . and for me Build quality for both Thrustmaster and Logitech for a few years now has been a major shortcoming for their products.
    bringing DD to a wider market is a good thing for sim racing but I still fears the costs are still to high for most players one a budget.
    loved the review thanks
