- I found a new Goodwill, but the shelves were nearly bare. I spent a little time searching and then moved on to Hamburg Antique Center in Hamburg, PA.

My mom could not find her carnival glass vase for years. One time the toilet malfunctioned and I opened the tank to find my dad had used the vase to make the tank save water. I took it out and washed it. Good as new. Nothing happened to it. It was in there for years.
That’s wild! Glad you found it. How wonderful it must have been to find a long list treasure - and what a great story!
That is so funny!!!!! 😄
Men! (Well, some of them!)
Oh my!
WoW!!
Sydenstricker Glass, It is pronounced sigh-den-str-ick-er. Sydenstricker is also Pearl S. Buck’s middle name (author of The Good Earth). In the mid 1960’s on Cape Cod, Bill Sydenstricker developed a new craft inspired by the extensive research he had conducted while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on early Egyptian art.
His efforts resulted in new and exciting glass designs produced by a method similar to the ancient art of enameling.
Today Bill Sydenstricker’s apprentices continue to create new and innovative glass designs with the standards he instilled
I belong to another group of Fine Glass Hunters... I saw a resent post that advised if you can't read a signature add baby powder to bring it out better to read ..... what a great idea!
The bottle is famous as it was used in the sitcom 'I Dream of Genie' from the 1960s. There were actually 11 of them used on set, but the shape became household because of TV.
Am I mistaken or is it a jack Daniels bottle?
@@tracyhasty6506
It not a liquor bottle. It came in several different colors. It was changed when TV went from black and white to color. You can get a better look from it on CZcams.
You are very correct!! I started singing the theme song as soon as she picked it up!! 😂😂😂
Yes, & $10 is an amazing buy! A "Genie" bottle (not liquor) is on my bucket list of things to find in the wild. I was watching one on eBay that was $175, but just couldn't justify spending that much!
The Jim Beam 'I Dream Of Jeanie' Crystal Bottle! And it has the stopper! $10 !?! I have that bottle, but no stopper. It's a dark smokey green. That used to be one of my favorite shows, along with Bewitched. With the stopper, it can fetch up to $75 easy.
Good day to air this video; National Squirrel Appreciation Day (January 21st) ... thanks for showing the squirrels some love 😊
Turtle is EPIC!!
Hi everyone hope your having a great day 😊
Some to you 😁💜
How many people think that bottle she showed us remains you of the bottle on the show “ I Dream Of Jeanie” ?
Yes indeed. The first thing I thought when she picked it up. 👍
Yup
I joined you and Dagny in the never ending quest for glassy babies. Picking up everything that vaguely resembled one…. Until yesterday!!!! I was working ( thrift store) and picked up what looked like the treasured glass…AND LO AND BEHOLD…GLASSY BABIES (3 at .98 cents each!!!) one for each of us 😊😁
YAY!!!!!
Forgive my ignorance by why are Glassy Babies so valuable? What is the distinctive difference between them & look a-likes? Thx in advance!!!
I've sold several of those smoke-glass Beam I Dream of Genie bottles. There are some artists that hand-paint and sell them. People in Australia go crazy for them!
I also wonder how thrift stores come up with their prices. Today I went to St Vincent de Paul's just to look for something pink for decor/reselling. The manager saw I picked up 2 vintage items and quickly took me back to her office to show me things they were going to list on Ebay. Funny how she was finding similar but not the same items and pricing according to asking prices. She had no idea how to look up sold comps, so I showed her how, and also showed her Worthpoint. She was wondering why her merch wasn't selling. Items are only worth what buyers are willing to pay. Thanks for another great shopping adventure! Wheres those Tom Ford's????? .
Yep they're just shooting themselves in the foot. Resellers won't pay high prices, and people looking for lower priced thrift store deals won't pay high prices.
@@kirstenrissling879 I have a feeling they love watching resellers like Jocelyn. They think they can get those higher dollars. It is the same here in Canada. I heard the reason we can't find Glassy Baby is because they are catching them first and putting them on line . I feel they are being sooo very greedy. What kills me is they don't discount here in Canada. They just throw away things that sit too long. If the price was right , I.m sure someone could find a use for most items. OK I'm rambling off pet peaves now LOL
Gosh, those pretty blue border plates would be neat with clay pots with the top border painted the same color and herbs planted per pot. They were really pretty!! 🙂
The deer is one that I have. My mom loved deer and she purchased it years ago. Its a wonderful memory of my mom, 😇
🎶 on top of spaghetti ... covered with cheese I lost my poor meatball.... 🎶
English chintz is sooooo much better, quality wise! I find the colors more vibrant as well!❤
Mardi Gras is in full swing down here. That purple, green, and gold carnival glass at 15:31 is perfect for decorating!
Honestly, I'm getting tired of Goodwill's pricing. They get this stuff for free and the pricing is outrageous on most things. My Goodwill, for example, goes online and finds out what everything sells for on eBay, then prices it just under the ASKING prices. I know this because they often print out the listing they based the pricing on. It's ridiculous and I do not donate to Goodwill any more.
I always donate to local charities, then you know the money is staying in the community.
I source mostly auctions and estate sales now where the money goes to the family. Let them get something for the inherited items. If they want to send items that dont sell to a charity, that's fine too. At least the employees of the auctions treat me with respect and are friendly to me.
You do realize that goodwill is a charity. You have to look at the money you spend as a donation. I shop a charity store in my town. I noticed the prices were up more than before but what isn’t? The money I spend in their store pays the bills to run the charity.
I don't give to GW. Look up and see what their CEO makes. Also, see exactly what they do for people. I hate the way they are price gouging. If they think it has any value, forget it! BUT, they don't know everything, right? Lol
@@southernbelle193 It maybe for charity but these stores were originally for hard up people too who needed help with everyday items.
I just spent $49.95 at Salvation Army, which was against my normal $ boundries, plus I had never seen anything priced over $20 there. But, I knew the piece was special, and I asked myself the same thing: "Would I spend $50 at antique store. I bought it, and more than doubled what I paid. So, sometimes the answer is yes.
Plus the $ spent at Salvation Army goes to a very worthy cause. They help so many homeless near our state Capitol and Nationwide.
I like their prices, much more reaso able and yes, I feel they are better as an organization.
The little bear at end manages to have both a Buddha expression and a touch of smugness both. Remarkable little piece.
The i dream of jeannie bottle is a 1964 Jim Beam Whiskey bottle. Cool find. Great price. I'm jealous. Lol
Jocelyn, I just love how easily you are distracted. You are like a ball in a pinball machine, bouncing here and there. LOL I want to thrift with you!
The Paxtonia goodwill rarely is a big shopping visit for me. But have found a few things over the years.
😂 That must be why it wasn’t even on my radar.
I just watched one of your sold videos from 2 years ago. You were selling most on Etsy. Goodwill's prices have really gone way up for sure!! Have a great weekend and God bless!!
I loved the bag in the bin..even without a name on it.The little round box was really cute. And the little double vase with the enamel and the fish on it..super cute! The chintz pieces were stunning!😍Love the cute little Fenton bear❣️🥰
Look at the eye lashes on that chick! she said. I love all the beautiful glass at this Antique shop. You picked a couple of nice ones. Thanks Joselyn
Made my first sell the other day! Thank you for all your information! I am still learning and enjoy listening to you!
Everyone at our Goodwill in my town employees and managers included left the company in protest because Goodwill has raised their prices so high and people here are very unhappy. So they are very short staffed. Also they are upset about Goodwill selling stuff online. They need to change their name to Goodwill Antique Store.
WoW, I haven't been in a GW in over 4 or 5 years!! I miss the Wonderful one that was not far from our house in Rocky Mount, VA. A lot of lake folks would bring their stuff and some good deals on things not used was Great!!
I have been binge watching your videos! Discovered you by watching Kat’s videos and now have been falling in love with looking for antiques. I also have started watching Dagne! Thank you for all of the amazing content and information, I love the way you show everything, whether you purchase it or not. The explanations as to why you buy or don’t buy are so very helpful! Please keep doing what you are doing! ☺️
You find the coolest stuff!
I know you've been doing this type of work for a long time but it still amazes me that you can say who the maker of the item is and when you pick it up and look at the bottom it's what you said it was. 🤯 I know Fenton but pretty much nothing else.
You found some awesome pieces!
You bought beautiful item’s! I learn so much from you!
Love you and your family! Blessings to you all!👍🙏🤗❤️👏👏👏
That skyline looks like Baltimore.
definitely Baltimore
I think so too
So freaken weird. I work at an antique store sometimes and today a woman was asking me about a Kosta Boda piece! Couldn’t believe that i randomly clicked your video and you found one as well! And our vendor actually had his piece priced at $80 too! 😂
When you first picked up the Napoli smoked glass bottle, I thought it looked like the "I dream of jeannie" bottle.
Thanks for taking us along, Jocelyn. Beautiful shop💜
That miug shows the sky line of the city of Milwaukee!!!!!!!!!!
Joce, the purple glass was not a stretch vase. I have one. It is a Viking candle holder.
I have one too but in teal.
Maybe you can do a short when you find out what the knob is for.
Fantastic finds!
Beautiful tea set!!💕💕
About 2 months ago I visited the Paxtonia Goodwill for the first time and purchased the 'Riley' plate, not knowing that Jocelyn had seen it first! (See 2:30) I've just now (months later) watched this video where you considered this plate back in January. I'm tickled that I bought something that Crazy Lamp Lady at least considered, lol! I thought it was dated 1972 but now I think Joceyln was right - it was probably 2012... but it does look 70s :)
That bottle you thought was Empoli is actually a vintage Jim Beam decanter the one that was originally used as the Genie's bottle in I Dream of Jeannie. Was originally just painted gold when the show is in black-and-white and then later switch to a purple with the gems when the show went to color
Yes my favourite one is 'its a matchy matchy . I use that all the time ..ha ha Marie from Ireland
Wow you got all beautiful stuff !!!!
Wonderful antique shop. I love all your finds! Everyone is craving spring right now and the chintz just screams spring.
Fun looking shop 😍
Always ❤️❤️❤️ you and your videos! 😁
Hi Jocelyn, great video, enjoyed it very much!! I picked up that same little Lefton graduate kitty, I also loved something you didn't pick up that was next to the yellow fish vase, it was the blue-green jack in the pulpit vase--that was lovely!!!
ThisMomsLife..don't forget " That is just stunning"..and "It's fantastic".
Great adventure, love your choices
Beautiful items you found here
I loved that ombre looking purple and white vase from the bin.
I think the green jug behind the graduation kitten is rare (Mary Gregory), goes back to 1900. Decoration technic is unique. Thank you for sharing your finds with us.
Omgosh! I’ve just begun thrifting and I find myself using Jocelyn-isms 😂 I caught myself saying things like, “It’s got a few chippies there. How sweet is that?! What a shame.” Also, it’s all so pretty, how do you resist picking up every piece just to take a closer look?!
HaHa! Me too, I get out of the car saying "Let's go see what we can buy and flip for a profit.'"
Me too, each morning when I look in the mirror, “It’s got some age to it”🤣
My Jocelyn -ism is “That’s fantastic” with her Pennsylvania accent. Much different than my Oklahoma accent.
I added stunning and Fenton
What if the glass snail is a stopper?
Don't forget St Patrick's day in March. You can use that in your titles for your green glass too. Great shopping trip. Inspires me to go sourcing more at antique stores
Lol love the 'like a pro' statement at about the 22 mark! I used to say that at work when I did something right. Love the videos
Hello, love the items you picked. You picked an I Dream Of Jeannie bottle. Beautiful.
The tri-color on the glass bowl is called ametrine.
It's Gorgeous!
The Empoli and genie bottle are my favorite.
I just found you from my recommended on YT. You are amazing. I just love your finds. Thank you for all the info. I learn so much as I binge watch your videos!! :)
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel. ☺️
I enjoyed the shopping trip.
Oooh the purple stretch vase! Purple is so hard to find. So pretty!
Beautiful finds..
Beautiful Items
In Australia ‘Royal Winton’ and ‘Grimwald’s’ chintz are the most expensive and sort after, crazed or not. Also a mid to late 1990’s Chintz by ‘Christchurch England’ (a Woolworth’s Supermarket spending gift) is now very expensive. All the best.
Hi Jocelyn. So many lovely pieces. My favourite was the glass plate with the pansies and the Fenton bear. Although I like all the pieces you picked up today. Even some you didn't.
A unicorn without its horn is a horse!
Thank you😜👍
Love the "Genie" bottle, Empoli bottle & the red glass bottle on the brass elephant base! They are all beautiful! xo
It's actually a vintage Jim Bean which was originally used as the Genie bottle and I Dream of Jeannie
@@irenebcrouse - a "Genie" bottle is on my list of things to find in the wild! "I dream of Jeannie" was one of my favorite shows growing up & I've looked at some of the bottles on eBay, but refuse to pay $175!
Those were my favorites too.
@@LindaKayHolevas I also would of been all over the leopard ,In the fenton animals.
Some nice finds.
I love the chintz ware😍😍😍
I love Clarice Cliff’s designs, of course when I fell in love with her stuff years ago, I didn’t realize how expensive her designs are. So sadly, I’ll never be able to afford to own any of her art. 😔. ✌🏼❤️
Love the Jeanie bottle
I just discovered FENTON makes miniatures 🤷♀️. Where have I been ❣️❣️
I laughed with you about the little chick egg cup with eye lashes !!! Too funny **
That store is great! Beautiful things. ( I just made myself think of Steven King, “Needful Things”). Hopefully not in a dark way like that, though.
Love the redware!
It was so beautiful! We just don't have shops like this where I live. It's a real bummer but that said, I love watching Jocelyn shop.
We have found our Goodwill and Salvation Army stores are very low in inventory here in Michigan too!
Looks like our Goodwills!!!
The squirrel dish looks like a chipmunk 🤗
That red/orange wood box was a match holder
The cute orange box - matches maybe?
The Hearth & Hand purse is cute!! I didn’t catch the price!
I just love the Antique Stores you go to on your shopping. I thank you for teaching me the Impoli name, I realized I saw it and thought it was that name before you said it. I’m a proud pupil. That’s the only name I remembered.
01:30 You're always saying you found the "brown" section, but there's never any brown gravy or brown Windsor soup, so how can it really be brown? 😆
02:21 Student pieeeeeece! (Defo '12).
04:39 That design is obvs. BOTH in the departments of "What were they THINKING???" and "BoooOOOOOooobies!"
09:11 Exactly my thought. I don't know how you do it; I'd just ::CIRCUIT OVERLOAD::
10:20 Dang. I could go two directions on that: Mexican, or Greek.
16:48 No, certainly not. He's meant to sit upright, with his horns in the air.
22:20 Aha! Combination of Lionel NOS, new Lionel, and a few I can't ID at a distance.
22:46 She is an Astonished Pelicum, with her pouch gaping in her amazement.
I think it's a stork
Hahahaa!! Booobies!! 100%
The first time you spent a lot of money did you hyperventilate? I would have! LOL
I noticed the pink Fenton logo piece had not for sale. If you find any for sale they are highly collectable. Wished you had gotten the clear soap dish. I definitely would have is on it.
Eppern yay....... just sayin ❤🥰 you gotta pronounce it in the French xxx thank you for getting me into glass....I found a Kosta Boda tealight for 50p.......
The price for that Kosta Boda vase is ridiculous for GW. What is going on with them?
I'm waiting for the Murano lily of the valley fairy lamp to go up for sale.
It’s an I Dream of Jeannie bottle!
The good will price points in my area are crazy high,I found a place today in town that I picked up 7 crystal pieces for $6,believe it or not
Some things from west Germany
I'm in California & our Goodwill prices are off the charts. I say this because if someone truly is in need the prices are unaffordable! Many times ours will price things 1$-2$ under the price for a brand new item. So many times it's like why bother. The managers that work there pull all the nice items and price high & those go in the case up front. Finding something amazing for a great price just doesn't happen so I really enjoy watching Jocelyn & Dagney finding awesome finds like the Murano vase that was in a hat or whatever it was in. That was so Amazing!
That is a I dream of Jennie bottle. Or a Jim beam decanter.
That yellow art pottery mug is Kansas City, MO. It’s a local potter! LOL. I’m interested when you list it.
It’s the Year of the Tiger - use that for promo
We do chintz well in the UK lol
Hornby trains do very well at auction in the UK
Too bad the Ariel bank was damaged. My daughter would've loved it
That’s the Baltimore skyline.
Great store and good picks
I would like to know how they make the pattern on the carinval glass like that beautiful.
Hearth &hand is Laura Gaines you know the house fixer upper couple from target it’s a felted bag
I'd like to know more information about the white turtle she picked up
