The Jedi Council were in large part the Security Council and had direct control of the military. It is likely that the Jedi Council would have formed a military junta to govern the Republic using the Army to enforce their will and the law. In ROTS, it is clear that the Jedi Council would take control of the Senate (and thus Republic) if only temporarily to ensure a peaceful transition. That period of "temporary" could be extended whilst the Jedi Junta removes corruption and apathy from the Senate. Yoda (as the wisest on the Council) could very well have been named Galactic leader - the Galactic Grand Master/Caeser in the interim (potentially indefinitely). Mace Windu would likely have been the Primus (head of the Army on behalf of the Grand Master). Great monuments of Aayla Secura and other Jedi may have been built in testimony to the heroism and beauty of the Jedi Order. Anakin Skywalker, no longer plagued by visions and able to think clearly, would perhaps be given the title of Master, and his children schooled in the Jedi arts by his best friend Obi Wan, or perhaps the Grand Master Yoda himself. The Jedi would ensure a "safe and secure" society and at the request of "The People" dissolve the corrupt Senate and old Republic, establishing the first "Jedi Imperium", citing Yoda's resolve having never been stronger!

Here's the thing: Despite the CIS Generals being killed, the CIS Droid Army far outnumbered the Republic. The CIS had far more ships, and troops. The only reason they were losing the war is because Dooku and Sidious were doing so on purpose. Like the Super Tactical Droid said in Rebels. "CIS Units far outnumbered Republic units. The Republic only had a 23.6% chance of victory. " The only way the Republic could win is with the Galaxy-wide Droid "shutdown command". Without that the command, the Super Tactical Droids would take over leadership, and we would get a REAL war for once. Not some "fake-stage play" with Sidious and Dooku forcing the CIS to fight losing battles. The kid gloves would come off, and the Droids would massacre the Republic.

    • @rogermurph101
      @rogermurph101 Před 4 lety +62

Meh. I’m not sure it’s ever broached in the series, but why does the Republic waste so many resources engaging the droid armies? Fight defensive battles as needed, but their main objective should have been to shut down production facilities and cut off supplies of raw materials used to manufacture droids. Without the ability to crank out new droids, the deficiencies in their designs would quickly tip the numbers scales, and the CIS would be forced to either find living combatants or be starved out into surrender.

Here's an idea to go with this scenario or a general What If Order 66 Never Happened. What if after the Clone Wars and the restoration of peace, the Jedi formed a new service corps, whose purpose would be to command the GAR in times of war. All of the Jedi who had become more militarized or who were effective generals would join this corps, rather than all Jedi in general. The members of the corps would train in military strategy and battlefield tactics.

It would eventually lead them to the Dark Side in some form or fashion as they study new ways to use their force powers and tactical knowledge to command the battle field and defeat enemy combatants. This would then turn them against their Jedi brethren in a militarized coup because we all know that the Jedi will literally kill anyone and everyone that even attempts to dabble in the Dark Side. Then these new highly militarized “Jedi” would attempt to overthrow the Republic in need of more power or out of necessity due to multiple threats by the Senate complaining too much about their power. They’d succeed for the most part since they are the only ones with a full fledged army and would proceed to turn the Republic into a new Sith Empire. In the end it still destroys the Jedi entirely and the Sith would at last rule the galaxy.

Order 65 stated that if the Security Council deemed the Chancellor (the Supreme Commander in Chief) unfit for command/office, that the Grand Army would remove said Chancellor from office and defer to whatever command chain existed.

If so - i.e. had Anakin not intervened - and if Mace Windu (who had bested Palpatine in lightsaber combat) was permitted to kill the Chancellor, the Jedi "coup" would have succeeded. The Jedi Council "would have to take temporary control of the Senate in order to secure a peaceful transition." It would be up to the Jedi to decide just how temporary that would be. They would enforce their will (the will of the Force) with their direct control over the Grand Army. Yoda would become the Head of State of the Imperial Republic and designated the Grand Master. Mace Windu would become the Primus of the Republic. Great statues of Aayla Secura would be built galaxy wide. For a safe and secure society!

In Legends wearing armor was actually made illegal for Jedi after the Ruusan Reformation when it was also made illegal for them to hold many important political positions.
They began wearing armor during the Clone Wars presumably since those laws were repealed to let the Jedi fight in the war, but by the end of it they began spurning the use since it didn't really help improve their survivability and was massively hurting their reputation with the general populace (amplified by Palpatine's propaganda) as they began to be associated with the exhausting war and other negative things.

As good guys, they have to accept the reality that fighting is unavoidable sometimes. Peace shouldn't mean passivist, or whatever yalls idea of it is.
I'm not trying to attack Alen, but contradicts himself a lot and gets stuff wrong. Either he didn't proofread his script, or is saying all this just to cover all the bases and not offend anyone. (the ladder is the most likely explanation).
He points out that Mundi and Windu had different insight on the situation, then uses this to label the Order as "blinded by hate". That's like hypothetically arguing all jedi say Clones as tools because of Pon Krell, purposefully forgetting Plo's and Shaak Ti's kindness.
He says something like Sheev was a was a chess master and masked his energy, then closes the video with the Jedi didn't see because they were blind, arrogant, etc., as if they knew to do something and didn't (it can't be both). RotS makes it very clear it was just Palpatine's expert plan that screwed the galaxy.
Also, though I don't blame any of you for not noticing, and I'm sorry to be this person, but CW is contradicting all the preestablished lore. When will people see Filoni doesn't want to live in the shadows of other creators and wisely chooses not to say it. 2:50 Jedi Master Eno Cordova from Jedi Fallen Order also had a vision of the fall of the Jedi Order when he explored a Zeffo temple. He rushed to back to Coruscant to warn the Jedi Council but his words fell on deaf ears. With sole exception of the Jedi librarian Jocasta Nu who only believed him due to their friendship.

It's realistic. They had so much stuff on their plate, and as explained in this vid, how can they get away with removing an elected official based on a feeling.
And sorry to be a contrarian or to sound annoyed, but it didn't "fall on deaf ears". Cordova is either an unreliable narrator and this is his opinion, or CW has messed up our perception of stuff like this that much. Jedi were mortal and thus flawed, but they were never supposed to look this careless.
Though I don't blame any of you for not noticing, and I'm sorry to be this person, but CW is contradicting all the preestablished lore. Many Jedi felt the end coming, and it's seriously contrived and silly when stuff like any arch in season 6 lays out all the pieces for the jedi to pick up to generate tension, and intentionally make the jedi look apathetic. When will people see Filoni doesn't want to live in the shadows of other creators and wisely chooses not to say it? It's why he contradicts Lucas' portrayal of the jedi, as well as going against others' input so much.
I could go on explaining all the ways this "jedi are [horrible trait]" narrative has gotten too one sided and negative

For a safe and secure society!

there's something I always found strange, why didn't Sidious try to create a sith army after order 66, wich would have help him during the upcoming civil war, i now theres the inquisitors that sidious had but there like 10 of them, he could have created a new sith order since the jedi where dealt with and the law of two didn't have any reason to exist anymore, so what stop him to do so ?
we know that the jedi tried to hide the list of force sensitive children but Sidious should had a way to find them even without the list, and even considering that he dind't find them, what happen to the all of the force sensitive children? At some point their power should have wakened hup even without training and they should have been found by the empire.

It still wouldn’t have ended well for the Jedi.
“Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”
The Jedi were so used to their status as generals of the republic that they’re we’re frightened about losing that power. Not explicitly, but it was subtle. The Jedi always have good intentions but over the last 1000 years they fell to bureaucracy.
Public opinion swayed against the Jedi. People of the republic would have seen the Jedi as forcibly taking control of the senate and republic. Do you really think the Jedi would’ve given up that power? They would’ve been tempted to keep it and not transfer power over to the senate.
Eventually the republic’s citizens would’ve rioted and rebelled against the Jedi. All still apart of the plan of the Sith. The Jedi would be the cause of their own downfall.

The prison on stigeon prime when the rebels went looking for Deppa Bilaba was originally meant for son of dathomir. They did a death star crystal arc, they had Ashoka stopping darth sidious coming through a doorway, like the Sith temple arc and many of the Sith temple designs ended up on malachor. I think the idea is that these other generals and admirals aren't powerfull enough to take overall command. A powerstruggle will likely follow, weakening seperatist leadership. Also new leaders would just be hunted by the jedi. One of the main reasons why Dooku and Grievous were such a threat is because they could defeat nearly any jedi they faced.
