Very impressive. I can not believe when I herd some of the prices of certain things of the tractor and planter. I’m amazed. I’m old school I love the 8960, 4960, 4455, 4020, & the 820 two popper. great video.
All the tractors my bosses use are all John Deere. They use anything from a 4320 (1960s model), 2940, 4450, 4430, 7800, 8770, and a 9220. Their oldest brother owns an 8120, 4450, and a Ford Versatile 946. Their 90 year old father has a 4430. I've ran their 9220, 8770, 7800, and their 4430.
I'm with you. I'll take a 20, 30, 40 series tractor any day. And I don't need air-conditioning.
P.S. I hate cabs.

Another awesome video, thanks Jason. Beautiful planting setup. Tractors are getting closer to not having a farmer in the seat. I'm NOT a fan of that at this point.
The fully autonomous tractor is getting closer by the day. I think you still need a person in the cab to make implement adjustments and quick repairs.

Won’t be long and the operator will be able to sit on the head land under a shady umbrella, sipping on a nice drink, reading a book while the tractor does the whole job on its own!! Well……he may not be reading a book, it’s more likely he’ll be watching Big Tractor Power videos 🤣. Regards from Down Under.
Full automation is almost here but I think an operator is still needed in the cab. Planter seed tubes clog up and tillage implements break blades and it is easier to hop out and fix it on the spot than to drive it back to the shade tree or run a pick up truck out to the tractor. Either way hopefully they are watching BTP 😁👍👍
Hello! Another step in the automation path...
It’s getting closer and closer. I still think that you need someone in the cab because implements and Planters need a lot of adjustment throughout the day and it would be easier to have someone right there to jump out and fix it then trying to run your pick up truck out to catch it

The tractor turned without the steering wheel turning .
My guess is if you touch the steering wheel at any point during the auto-steer process it shuts off because it assumes the operator wants to take control.
I have to say I was right there and had not noticed it was not turning. Full automation is not far away.
Omg $523,000.00 ! How the heck do manufacturers justify the price of equipment?
It is a big investment. It is an industrial machine like a bull dozer building a road. It gets the job done faster and faster.
Wow very nice tractor it is pretty amazing technology that I can do all the headlands and everything under full automation so I guess the next step in evolution is just to remove the person driving it and I guess the farmer will wake up in the morning just use an iPad to start it and start planting that way I guess
The driverless tractor is closer and closer. Case IH and John Deere have both shown fully automated tractors in the past 5 years. I still think that you’re going to need a person in the cab of the tractor to be there to jump out to adjust an implement or fix some type of break. You can watch it on my iPad but when a seed tube clogs or a disk blade breaks you need a person there to correct it.

Jason, in your travels, have you seen any of the new JD 8R 410s w/ the new EVT transmission? If yes, do you know if they come with the CommandPro joystick like the IVT tractors do?
What’s the purpose of the John Deere globe on the implement?

Not the globe on the tractor. I’m talking the globe on the planter
@@wileybird69 implements will shift left or right depending on a bunch of factors, imagine a vertical till moving about at speed - its never gonna follow exactly the track the tractors going.
so tldr if u need exact measurement of where the seed actually went u need a globe on the planter not just tractor
Yes that was neat turning on the end rows by itself yes we do have jd tractors an 87 4250 mfd/ cab .81 2940 .84 2350 mfd/ loader an a 72 2520 gas row crop that was a big field was wondering what the acreage was
That corn looks like it's hurting for rain.
The corn crop is greatly hurt to toast here this year. Very little rain in the last two month. Hopefully these double crop soybeans will fair better.

During spring planting, would it benefit a farmer to broadcast their soybeans?

Great videos as always Jason. I often think about what farmers are going to do if they lose the ability to use guidance and gps technology. Say an EMP is released on the usa all the electronic gizmos and gadgets will be worthless. Only ones that will be able to farm will be the ones who have old equipment that know how to use them
It is a risk. Electric and cyber security are very important. There is allot to be said for old steel. The new machines are incredible but do reply on allot of support.

I would like know the yield comparison this fall
If I catch the combines in that field I sure will report on it. They drilled the 7 inch verbs with an 8RX 370 and 1890 air drill. You can see it parked by the farm in a few clips of this video. Unfortunately I was not there to catch it running.

Why does he turn around in the middle of the field
They had a seed company test plot there. They were planting around it.
So I take it that they're planting dry .
It was 109 degrees out the day I filmed this. It was very dry.
@@bigtractorpower It is risky ,if they don't get enough rain the seed can rot.
I've never liked autosteer..
I have to say I like driving my tractors but in the few moderne ones I have been in the drivers seat it’s nice to push that button and know it’s right on point. I have made a few curves driving and disking or harrowing.
