- I tried to make this as close to what an actual implementation of VA work would look like in a Touhou game, similar to other shmups like Mushihimesama. A Japanese dub would be ideal, but as far as English dubs go I'd say this is at least, well, par for the course. I definitely wouldn't be mad if Touhou had English voice patches like this.
I used 15.ai/ to make this. At LEAST half the voices there are MLP (the author goes into the reasons for that here / 1335577983210434560 ) but it also has other voices like Spongebob, TF2 voices, and Rise from Persona 4, with more on the way. The MLP voices work great for general female voices, which is very convenient for a series where 99% of the characters are girls.
I used Twilight Sparkle for Reimu and Queen Chrysalis for Kanako. Their voice actresses should not be credited or associated with this video. I did not personally contact them, nor did they provide their work for the purpose of making this video. These voices are generated by an AI.

You picked a great voice for Kanako, and I personally feel adding spoken lines makes the spell card declarations more exciting.
If I ever get to games which have actual bombs, it's going to be fun having the player characters yell those out too! Though I will have to find a way to make it not too repetitive-sounding.
Yeah when a character shouts their most powerful attack in a hard game it feels way cooler an example would be the gunvolt series

I wouldn't worry too much about the bomb yelps, the main reason I come back to this video is the dialogue and Kanako's declaration for 'virtue of wind god', it really did sound like her trump card.

I really love the voice choice for Kanako! it´s just perfect and really fits her.
But i imagined Reimu´s voice being less Moe and more bored.
Maybe entirely different depending on which game it is, or which fight it is.
Yeah, definitely something I feel in retrospect. Getting deep into the PC-98 games at that time vs. modern games and fanon probably had something to do with that, since Reimu is definitely more moe-like in that era. I even included a subtle PC-98 Reimu reference in Reimu's dialogue...
But Kanako's clicked immediately the moment I heard it browsing through the 15.ai voices. Like, I immediately thought of her.

I think Reimu nailed it, while Kanako sounds a bit too intense and villainy Imao. Kanako's dialogue kinda shows that she is calm and well-meaning (albeit with hidden motive and a little sarcasm).
Reimu sounds like a 16yo who's used to all this fuss

As much as I dislike mlp, I love how well the voices go with the characters here. It’s not perfect in my opinion (I think Reimu’s voice is a little too high pitch since I personally imagine Reimu to have a more mature voice) but it’s really good

Suggestions:
-Either lower the music a bit, or make the character's voices a bit louder, so that it is easer to hear them speak
-Make them swear a little bit less, it's funny as shit, but it doesn't really fit touhou
