You belong to an ancient and noble order of monster hunters. You may have fallen from their good graces, but it will be all right. Taking out your current target will no doubt prove your devotion... and no one has to know about the power you secretly possess. Because you're not a monster... you can't be...
You and your people have chased your target into a masquerade ball. A less than ideal situation, with all the innocents around. You've had to leave behind the bulk of your weapons, but you can't let her get away. Not even if this turns out to be a trap...

Nightshade's notes: I chose this script as part of a scriptwriter appreciation event for the month of May, in which VAs give some love to underappreciated scripts. These are usually very good scripts that happen to have something in them that is difficult to perform. And this was a tough one for me! In large part because I'm not in on the mystery any more than you are! That makes it a little harder to find the character's motivation and portray it accurately, but I did my best from the details the writer skilfully sprinkled through the script, and I'm pretty happy with the result. Honestly, Otherworldlywriter is very easy to talk to, and I'm sure I could have just asked them if I was on the right track, but that would have spoiled the surprise!
This character, as I see it, is fond of the hunter but keeping her distance. As one does with someone who is trying to kill you. She doesn't yet know if they can be brought to her side. But, I think, even if they can't, well, the chase will be just another game, won't it?
I still had a little chest congestion when I recorded this, and I decided to use it to my advantage by making this monster girl as growly as I could. I hope you all enjoy it! Thank you for listening, my dear royal court!

Hunter felt something stirring deep within as she left him on the dance floor.
A bubbling doubt surging to the surface from the bottom of his soul.
He fled to the outside and tried to control his breathing.
Memories from long before came to the front of his mind.
He remembered the trainers of the new hunters bring out a bloodsucker as a demonstration.
The one his group were presented seemed beaten and starved to the point of savagery.
Another memory from childhood of bullies having done the same to a stray dog.
He snapped back into reality and took a long breath.
Hunter: *Inhale* I have some things I need to figure out.
He left the party grounds and headed not back to the hideout but to his old home.
Beautifully worded
This is not at all what I was expecting, but I see nothing to complain about. For example, the dynamic between the main characters was both respectful and spiteful at the same time, which I don't see very often. And I can say with confidence that I might get along with her surprisingly well.
You have once again created something beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us. 💜☺️😘
I don't know if you're familiar with the "Haniball Lector" series but this character's relationship with the listener is almost identical to that of Lector and Agent Starling. Starling felt like her sole purpose in life was to stop Lector even during times that her superiors in the FBI wanted her fired. Lector sympathized with Clarice when he learned of her supriors's contempt for her and would never harm her even though she was in endless pursuit of him.

"Above the wrist, or below?" was beautiful misdirection. He would never hurt women (I looked into his back-story), and especially not dear Clarice. His affection for her may have started as mere curiosity and fascination, but he does seem to truly adore and respect her.

@chrisleyhe9039 indeed. And it would most likely be sublime. But he'd only eat a man's liver. He never once kills or ingests women to my memory. It's a truly significant part of his backstory, stemming from his sister and his aunt.

I’ve always wanted to go to a masquerade ball someday, and these audios do an amazing job of capturing the atmosphere. The little edits as the listener and speaker moved around the room were a nice touch. Amazing job bringing this script to life, hope there’s more in the future!
I wonder what that power could possibly be? It kind of makes me think that the hunter might feel like they’re always two steps behind this character. Some of the lesser known scripts sometimes have the best mysteries. I hope there will be a part two. 😁

You know the script writer would allow it this has all the makings of a great series and I'm curious to know when you mentioned the listener has a particular gift or power dwelling in the side of them you know you made me think about the movie Van Helsing where it was revealed at the end in the final battle that Van Helsing was a lichenbeast

I will say I do find this one interesting. To be honest, I was originally going to just write it off as just another power fantasy over the listener and I still do believe that.
But I am intrigued by the story and the plot. I want to know what the power the listener has they keep talking about that makes them a monster.
I'm guessing she's some kind of vampire, but I can also be wrong.
I do like how she's letting the listener come to her instead of just dragging the listener with her. I think that gives the listener a lot more agency for the episodes to come instead of them just being a dog on a leash they showed up there of their own volition.
I do hope it doesn't end up being a thing where it's just ohh, monsters have yet to do anything humans are just being overdramatic or mean for no reason. As that is always a very weak story point.
But I will say for an episode one it already got me hooked so I can wait and see.

Oh gosh. You know, earlier today I sat down and made a list of all my active series. There were 14 of them (and I have the suspicion I still be forgetting something lol). Out of those, 10 currently have scripts out that are ready to be recorded. If I did nothing but sequels for the next while, it would take me at least a month and a half to catch them all up - and I don't like doing only sequels, because I don't want to only put out things that you have to have seen something else to enjoy! So the short answer is yes, I do have plans to update it soon, but with practical considerations, my "soon" may unfortunately not be as soon as everyone would like. But I promise to do my best! ❤️❤️❤️

You could alternate between series' follow-ups and new creations, whether it be 1-to-1 or 2-to-2 (as examples).

And you know come to think about it the spirit blade voice actor or the voice you put out there for the spirit blade makes me think of that you are the spirit inside of the master sword but then in the end with that legendary weapon they sealed themselves inside the blade that seals the darkness never to become fully human even the sword wasn't human to start with and the spirit inside but the way you made your voice sound in that particular episode sounded like almost like five from The legend of Zelda skyward sword but at the end you sounded more human-like I know you're trying to save a surprise for the next episode but I somehow think that in the process of that battle somehow you have a human form now I would be surprised if the next episode you're actually outside of the blade and you actually have a human form and I would be in stitches to see your actual spirit art that you created actually have a human form outside of the blade
I hope this doesn't disappoint you, but I genuinely have no idea if you're right or not. This isn't a lie to keep the next part a secret. I legitimately know nothing at all about what the writer, Chimera, has planned for part 4. And I hate to admit this because your theory is really cool and I wish I could say I'd planned it! - but I didn't do anything to change the effect on the voice at the end of the last audio. I suspect you don't hear it as strongly because reverb effects like the one I was using are more audible on loud sounds, and at the end I was speaking very softly. So you may very well be right about what happened! But if you are, the sound effect is just a very happy accident. Because I have not seen or heard any of the author's plans. 😔
As I recall from the first script, Kodokuni is not a spirit embodying a sword, she is the actual sword itself with the ability to project a human image. So it would be really fascinating if she ends up with a human form! Again, there's not much I can say because I have zero clue what happens next. It would be sheer speculation. But I do think your theory is a really neat possibility!

You know it would been even been better in the title of this video they would have been three question marks behind the listeners name or where it says Hunter human listener could have been three question marks behind it and I would be sad if this is a one shot and this doesn't continue cuz this has all the parts need for a series being in a long series or short series but I know for sure you probably have in the works the next part of the evil mage and the royal listener and the spirit blade
