Review of the Hogue Tamer recoil absorbing grips. Can they tame the recoil of the mighty .44 magnum?

Great minds think alike. I’m watching one of your S&W 69 videos and began wondering about if Hoque made a ‘tamer’ for the 69..and here you are again! 😂👍
Thanks Slim, good job with showing how they're shaped- just what I needed to see.
My Super Redhawk Alaskan .44 mag. came stock with this grip and I'm sure glad it did. It is a hand-saver plus since the recoil is greatly reduced I'm more inclined to shoot it more often. Because of that, I outfitted my GP100 (.357 mag) with one as well as my SP101 (.357 mag). I'm hooked on them. They actually do what they say they do.
Thanks for the comment, good to hear this.
Ordered a set for my m69 with a 4.25 barrel nice to see someone actually attesting to using these with off the shelf loads. If they end up as good as you say mine will definitely turn back into my carry gun.
I think they're cool looking brotha. So much I ordered some and installing it today. Thanks for the video.
Great video, very helpful!
I have the Hogue Bantam grips on my 4.25” Ruger Redhawk. Love them. 👍
I really wish theyd make these without finger grooves for the k/l
I put these on my Smith Mountain Gun and I’m glad I did
Sometimes you have to give up looks for comfort
gunnwild1 sadly yes
Wish they'd offer them in different colors at least. Brown, white, woodlike multicolour, etc...
I would love for Hogue to offer the tamer grips in different colors at least. White for polished stainless or deep blued revolvers for example, or brown for satin stainless.
Slim I've had one on my Ruger GP100 since 1991 when those grips first came out along with the GP100. I would not recommend anything but a Hogue grip for high recoiling revolvers. Great video you're going to love that grip it's great on carry guns because it doesn't get nicked like wood and gives you proper purchase of the firearm even in sweaty or rainy conditions. Echo
SW 360PD-----FIRST THING CHANGE THE GRIP SO YOU CAN HANDLE 38 REGULAR ROUNDS, THEY WILL DO THE JOB, FIRE A 357 MAG AND YOU BEAT YOURSELF UP...GUN IS VERY ACCURATE...D/A PULL I CAN CONTROL AND FIRE AS IF S/A, TAKES PRACTICE.........I USE HOUGE FOR REDUCED RECOIL....
I so with they’d make the boot grip for the 69 covering the backstrap, with the blue jelly insert BUT be shorter.
Junior mints!!! finger groove cough Glock ! LOL ! good review and video brother ! we got to get together soon on the range someday.
Armament & Axes They are very refreshing LOL
Would this fit on the 686 Frame? I can’t seem to find a rubber grip with the backstrap covered , also got a link ?
What grip model number is that? I tried the Hogue 66000 and the 73000 on my Taurus model 44 and neither seemed to fit right.
Got those on my M69 and they work great. What holster is the 638 riding in? Thanks for the video.
G- Mc No problem, that’s a Galco ankle glove I Highly recommend them
Which tamer grip will fit my 617 Taurus? Good vid...
I have a S & W 686 plus. It came with Hogue grips. When gripping the pistol, my middle finger is forced upward into the rubber behind the trigger guard putting pressure on my middle finger knuckle. That is much more uncomfortable than the recoil of a .357 mag. I have to hold the grip with my fingers in the grooves one finger down from where they were meant to be. My pinkie has no place to go other than under the grip. No more Hogue grips.
For the longest time you could only other those from Smith. Did you find them somewhere else?
Tex_I_Can Yes, they’re all over now I got that one off Amazon I also saw them on Optic planet. The smith ones will have a Smith and Wesson logo versus the regular one just has the Hogue logo
@@SlimCowboy Thank you for the info! I haven't looked in awhile, but I'll be placing an order. Love the model 69, but it's all I can do to run 100 rounds of full house loads through it before I'm done for the day. I bet that 329 you over up is even worse.
@@Tex_I_Can the reason why you couldn't get Smith & Wesson revolver houge grips for a while was houge at a special contract with Smith and Wesson to manufacture that grip for their High recoiling revolver line. Now that the contract has expired they're free to manufacture them for all Smith & Wesson pistols. D restrictions were only on the model Pistols that Smith and Wesson released with that Hogue monogrip already on it. Just a little info, Echo.
Did i miss your providing a part or model number for these grips ??
No, but apparently you missed me putting the name of the item in the title and saying it multiple times in the video. I apologize. I generally expect the average firearm owner to be able to use Google.
Really can't go wrong with Hogue anything. I know there's exceptions to a few revolvers they wont fit won't fit correctly. 🎩🎱🎯🏁♠♦♦♥🌼🏵🌸💙💛🔱🌻🇺🇸🍀
Do you remember if that was factory ammo you shot? If so which one? I just got my 329 PD today, WOW! Its a beast! With moderate 240 grain loads (magtech 1180 FPS) after 3 cylinders worth of shooting it had developed, and ripped open a blister on the web of my hand, I truthfully didn't mine the recoil, and was accurate with the gun, but sparing some flesh would be worthwhile.
