you missed a point, of rise of useless litigation and violence against doctors even when they try to save mother and baby during normal delivery ,this is major factor why c section is preffered.A lso many mother dont fulfill the basic minimun number of Antenatal visits and end up in complication even though visits are given through guideline n monitoring.

This video was balanced but missed on few of the benefits of Caeserean Section. You should have included opinions of atleast a government gynaecologist in this video, they might have brought out more nuances and everyone would have had much better understanding. Doctors would love to talk and explain things when asked nicely and when they are free :). In the future please include subject experts and let them explain their field even for a minute or two. Prolonged lochia ie. vaginal discharge, injury to baby esp collar bone, caput, injury to mother's pelvic floor, chances of prolonged labour pain esp. in first time mothers and increasing saftey of c-sec are also important factors. Besides maternal mortality has decreased and registration and record keeping has improved. Apart from the points mentioned in this video these factors also have to be in play.

This topic touched me in a deeper level. I live in Netherlands and was blesses with a baby this month. The baby was around 3.5 kg. This was our first baby so we were not sure what is the procedure of child birth in NL. Few months before the delivery we had an intake with doctor. The doctor declined C-Section as a options. Here is what she said " we doctors in NL pledge to never harm our patients. A c section means cutting 7 layers of human tissue. This procedure will actively harm the mother and baby. We will not perform this operation until either mother or baby are actively in danger "
My wife was very afraid if a natural delivery. She is very soft person, because of that I was also not sure if she could do it. She was in labour for 5 hrs. The doctors the nurses were cheering her all the way. Our baby was born naturally.
Parallely in India my sister was also pregnant. Her child was around 2.8kg. she is way more stronger. She tried for a natural birth. But only after 2 hrs of trying doctors pushed for C-Section. She was almost done but they still insisted for C-Section. They tried all the fear tactics and finally my BIL said yes for C-Section.
I have no doubt about the talent of doctors in india. They are the best of best. But I highly dought their ethics. I cannot trust a single word that they say. And I don't believe that the decision they take is for my best interest.

Ill tell you you're not so sure because you're not there in the room.
Ill tell you you're not sure because you can just think emotionally and what CZcams and other social media teaches you
You'll never be sure because you will be the first one to manhandle the doctor if something happens to the baby
Doctors in India may not be the best of the best but we've learnt practicing safe medicine. Safe for us that is- to prevent mortal harm if something bad happens. Let the patient go when he is alive so that we won't be in that bed soon if our best attempts (God forbid the extra bill that is generated) leads to property and physical harm.

Is about the 99% Unnecessary c sections. It is illegal and horrible. How can All women have operetion tell me? C section can be done ONLY for a serious reason and it is Very Rare case only (20%) . C section is done only for very serious reason and health problem of mother or baby. Operetion can be done only if the birth is really not possible because of the serious reason. Women must give birth to a baby, and not cut their baby out of stomach. Indian doctors force women into operetion and dont let them give birth because of the corrupt system. They want to cut you, they dont want to take care of you and give time to you during beautiful labour and birth. Also because of money they manipulate you and lie to you that you must have operetion cause your baby is „weak“ or „water is low“ all these kind of lies. That is why you Women must get Educated and never listen to these corrupt doctors. Here in europe Doctors would never let you to have c section! It can not be done freely, Only for a serious reason what is very rare! Be careful

In many cases where mothers emphatically want normal delivery doctors ask them or their parties to sign on the risk consent. It's very painful to see being a medical person. Patients are also so impatient nowadays. Doctors don't want to wait for long hours and they think that I'll instead perform 6-7 c-section in that hours.

I am SE in banglore and originally from dehradun.
Mai apni wife ki normal delivery k wajha se apne native aaya ddn and instead of private hopital we decided to start the treatment from govt hospital as normal delivery chances are high in govt.
Or umeed bhi puri thi kyuki meri wife ko koi b complication nahi thi everthing was normal even better or govt hosptal ki dr ne hame assure b kr diya tha ki aapki normal delivery hi hogi 100 % or hum b bahut confident thy pure. Then on 17 midnight my wife water broken and we went to the decided hospital but pata nahi for what reason my dr ne bola there is chance of csection and dr is on leave so unhone refer kr diya dure hopital govt mai hume kuch samhj nahi aaya but hum chale gye wanha pe unhone bola k abhi pain nahi hai toh 12-18 wait kringe and everthing is normal and took cansent phir 8 bje dr change hui or ab jo staff aaya wo hume force krne or darne lga k baby might be danger so go for ot. But i maine mana kiya or or wait krne ko kaha in written phir humne 1pm tak wait kiya but dr ne kuch try nahi kiya pain k liye toh pain nahi hue or al last na cahte hue b hame c section krwana pada bcz unhone bahut dra diya tha. Sub thik hua mujhe bahut pyari si bachi hui sub bahut khush thy phir ward mai shift hue but achana 3rd day on 19 meri wife ko brething issue hua or pata chala k uske lungs 1/3 infected ho gye hai wanha se refer kr k private hospital laay hun abhi bhi meri wife icu mai hai humne toh even c section b nahi expect kiya tha but abhi wrost case dekh raha hun govt hospital mai sahi se care nahi hui there is no lookafter and they are very negligence toward their work or dr ne apna time bachne ke liya meri wife ka c section kr diya i was completely against but mai last mai ek galt decision ki wajha se meri wife suffer kr rahi hai. Mujhe lgta tha k govt mai normal delivery hi krte kyuki unhe kuch extra paisa nahi milta etc but fact is k wo apni time barbaad nahi krna cahte or ishi liye unhone koi effort nahi kiya or meri bachi ka pet kaat diya aaj wo jis situation mai hai uska zimedaar ye pura system hai specially dr hai they are not humen they have no emotion .

Most of the times, mothers supposedly face complications and have to pay the higher fees of C-section. That's why, some couples prefer to deliver their baby in another city where the doctors approve of normal delivery.

I delivered my baby through normal vaginal delivery in PGI, Chandigarh. My friends around preferred private hospital for delivery but right from the beginning I had faith just in a govt. hospital. I have seen it myself during labour that some to -be mothers requested for a C-Section because they could not bear the pain but the doctors at PGI kept pushing them for normal delivery, and those same mothers were thankful to the doctors after the delivery for not conducting the C-Section.
In my first month of conceiving, two private doctors told me that I have had a miscarriage and asked me to conduct an internal check-up. Completely shattered by this, I went to PGI, they assured me that it's a healthy pregnancy within 2 minutes just by observing my stomach. Yes the procedures in a govt. hospital are quite long and time consuming but trust me it is worth everything.

Yes i got the same xmprnc.. i created 2 govt cards and 4 four private cards.. most of them told normal delivery depends on the situation and time.. we cannot give you any hope for normal delivery because it also depends on dilation and contractions on last.. but in govt hospital they just focused on my health reports.. everything was doing f9.. so when i got admitted they directly took me to labour case not for c sec.. they tried very best for normal dilation was going good but my mom waz in rush to make it quick.. so she forced drs for anima and induce.. when they did this as per my mom request dilation has stopped and thr was sharp contractions i was facing continusly.... I was continuously screaming and shouting because of pains but still no dilation.. dr wr waiting 1 inch dilation more to start the procedure but dilation was not increasing.. at last i started for shouting for operation.. n they simply said no.. bcoz baby head was fixed and only 10 r 20% dilation was left.. i shouted for operation and for forcep delivery.. doctors got angry at me bcoz the pain was unbearable for me.. at last they took me for forcep delivery and gave me warning to corporate.. i countinsly shouted when they inserted forcep for delivery.. pain was out of control.. i was even not able to move my legs r hands or fingers of any from place to other.. but some how i took the pains and co operated with them.. after successful delivery baby was not normal.. he drank amonitic fluid while i was facing dilation and pushes and pains.. they took him into emergency case.. n thr was sharp mark of forcep on his head.. skull was out of shape and he not cried after being born.. but Alhm his healthy and fi9 now.. somehow the day passed.. and it became most horrific day of my life. Now expecting the 2nd, and its one month left to go more.. doctors are cooperative but im worried about same pains again.. wt i learned is we should never compete or intrput the nature. Bcoz my mom did hurry dilation was stopped.. doctors already gv the tim by nxt day mrng.. but my mom started disturbing doctors for enema and induce for Faster delivery.. i got 7-8 stiches after forcep.. pain was more unbearable.. May Almighty easy the pains of all expecting mom.. and grants them success in both the worlds .

If doctors insist on normal delivery and if for some reason Baby develops some problem or requires admission in neonatal ICU (NICU) then patient and attenders start questioning why C-Section was not done, some attack doctors and hospitals and some even sue doctors telling because of normal delivery their baby had problems. So why should doctors would like to take risk when there are no laws to pretect doctors and hospitals against such instances. Please enlighten about this also

I’m a health coach and I did almost everything during my pregnancy to facilitate natural birthing. But at the end, my baby’s head wasn’t engaging even after being induced for 12 hours! At that point it made less sense to keep battling in so much pain when there was no ETA from baby’s side. Doctor then suggested csec which I also thought was the correct decision. Later we found out that my baby had a cord looped around her neck and it could have endangered her life if she came down. So csec was a boon for me.
Plus, in Bangalore pvt hospitals, the cost of csec and natural birth are almost similar. So monetary incentive for doctors to push for csec is negligible.

The C section takes less time, so a surgeon might do the operation in few hours, whereas in natural, sometimes it might take upto 12-15 hours. To have all the emergency doctor, nurse, bed, blood, syringe and equipment ready for 12-15 hours and NOT have to use them is a big factor in why these big hospitals are forcing C sections. As childbirth always carries some risk to the mother and baby and normal deliveries can become prolonged or can go haywire at any time, women and their families feel they have more control if they opt for a c-section.

Doctors used to c-sections will obviously inflict deep perineal cuts to normal delivery cases too. On the other hand, the size of the baby matters too. Due to improved maternal nutrition or some health condition of the mother, or the genetic constitution of one or both parents, babies may be large requiring a bigger cut to the perineum.
I still feel that a recovery from larger deeper cut on the uterus is much longer than a perineal cut. Doctors now need more practice to gain experience to handle vaginal births. Most docs, even the older ones seem more geared towards surgical births.

First of all. Vocabulary matters. We can say vaginal delivery and cesarian delivery which gives respect to both ways of giving birth. From first hand experience who underwent an emergency c section after suffering 30+ hours and hearing fellow young mothers, realised two things. There is a huge increase in premature water breaking, leading to emergency c sections and secondly cesarian recovery is not drastically different from "natural" delivery. I walked the second day and was able to touch my feet after they removed stitches. Unnecessary fear of both ways of giving birth and lots of misinformation is the major cause of postpartum depression in mothers. Child birth is not predictable like we hope.

I am a Doctor and I am running a Hospital, 50% of couples go for elective C-sec because they don't want to "destroy" female's genitals by normal delivery, that's a common believe in general population. Rest of the 50% who don't opt for C section, approximately 25% go for emergency C- sec because of delayed labour as they don't develop labour pains even in the 3rd stage of labour. I always ask the couples to go for normal delivery if they are fit but it is hard to convince them at the stage where women are alredy prepared for caesarean section.
Another bright side of C-section is significant decline in maternal and Infant mortality rates across the country.

It was a government hospital and her mother insisted on taking her to that hospital as she has helped some other ladies from neighborhood in their postpartum period and during their labour so she had some experience with such situations. In the room which she was admitted in during her labour pain a nurse came in and told her that she'll have to go through a c section as baby is not in right condition to be delivered normally without informing any other family members that were present right outside her room also she chose exact time when she was momentarily left alone. Hearing this she panicked and her blood pressure elevated then when her mother got to know about the reason for this she first helped her calm down and then she asked that nurse not to tell her such information which isn't necessarily confirmed she also suggested after talking with my sister in law that they'll go for normal delivery. The baby was born perfectly healthy little boy. My sister in law was healthy too all thanks to her mother she didn't had to go through any unnecessary procedure.
But in those few moments when she was left alone that nurse really caused her to worry if it weren't for her mother's insistence, support and much needed courage she would have given in to their suggestions and would have gone through unnecessary c-section. She was brave throughout her pregnancy and labour to endure such stress and also her mother is strong for helping her make such serious decisions with a calm mind in panicky and stressful situation.

Here is something that hasn't been addressed, normal deliveries also are prone to tearing of the vagina , now husband stitch isn't a myth, the fact that so many women gain weight due to normal deliveries hasn't been highlighted enough

I have lots of gynaecologist in my relatives…. They themselves want kids through c-section instead normal delivery….. as they admit c- section involves less risk to babies …. !!! That’s the only reason why women prefer c- section.

My mother body is perfectly shaped whereas my aunts stomach r automatically bigger and cause them problem in day to day life

Had our first child! Thanks to GOD we were aware of these and we were preparing ourselves right from the beginning. Private Doc told us to go for C section even though my situation was perfectly normal for vaginal delivery! We opted out and took the risk and went to the local Govt. hospital where my wife delivered a healthy baby in natural vaginal delivery :). No issues with both mother and child after birth!

Being a new mom I want to share some points here,( please bear with me it will be long)
    1. I always wanted a normal delivery so I researched lot about hospitals and doctors who will prefer to do normal delivery if everything is normal. And finally at my 8th month of pregnancy I changed my gynaec whom I can trust more, by the way there is no doctor who can guarantee you normal delivery 100%.
    2. The whole pregnancy duration was very normal for me without any complications but when my natural labor started even after 14 hours of being in labor, my baby was not taking the proper birth position to come out normally. My doctors were waited and even motivated me wait for some more time so that the baby takes the right position when I was losing hope and exhausted with the intense and prolonged labor pain. At last we have decided to go for cesarean as the baby was in stress and not coming down and I was too exhausted to bear any more pain.
    3. Just after cesarean I really felt the end of the world but I recovered very fast and got released after 2 days. The fee of normal and cesarean was same in my hospital. After 6 weeks my gyne said that you can play football now. My point here is, yes cesarean is not good compare to normal delivery but that is also true that normal delivery is not a cake walk, normal delivery takes 2-3 weeks to recover and cesarean takes 6 weeks. I know so many people who don’t want to have second baby because of the traumatic experience of normal delivery who have been to prolonged labor. The most important thing is safe delivery of baby and mother’s health.
    4. About child immunity yes it is true the normal delivery baby has some plus point here, but it all depends on how you take care of your baby later and mother feeding is more important for baby immunity.
    5. Post partum depression has nothing to do with the delivery process, it is because the new mothers are so overwhelmed with the arrival of the baby, their life changes completely, sometimes they don’t know whether they are doing great for the baby or not and so many other factors, that’s why they get PPD.
    6. And lastly, regarding bonding between mother and child I don’t think it’s true that normal delivery babies are more bonded. The only difference is in normal delivery case you can get the baby right after giving birth and feed them so that they can smell the mother and get bonded (for new borns smell is the most developed sense) and in cesarean case you will get the baby after 30 mins to 1 hour. I got the baby after 45 minutes and I fed him right after that and I never gave him any formula and he was with me after that. So I don’t think that 30 minutes difference will stop you get bonded with the baby.

I think government can start giving some incentives to hospitals which maintain there c section deliveries between 10-15%. Or make some strong laws around that criteria.
