- Join me as I fight to keep the abandoned cabin warm as a winter snowstorm hits the off-grid cabin in the woods. Even though its snowing and cold outside, the cabin renovation must continue as I install insulation, putting my DIY skills to the test as I fight to stay warm.

Be careful with that heater though - for Carbon Monoxide. Those things usually aren't designed with sealed combustion or Oxygen Sensors. It could overcome you very fast, in that small area, which would be disastrous. Also note, if you put in a CO detector - they have a 6 year lifespan, on the sensor, and need to be replaced then. I'm a retired Fire Alarm tech and just want to be helpful.

It's virtually impossible to buy a new heater in the US without an oxygen depletion sensor. If the oxygen level gets too low it will automatically cut off the fuel supply.
Advice is good, especially when the advice could save your life. 💐

Very smart to start at the peak and move downward. My Dad always said the same thing... start with the hard part of any job first because when you get to the end of it your arms are going to be tired.. Glad that the heater is working and that you actually were able to stay warm.

Nope..you can have the snow. Hate the cold. I live in Queensland Australia, sub tropics. If we get below 15 degrees celsius we are freezing. Thats about 60F to you. Great days work..loved the ladder dance 😊 The cabin will reward you for every improvement and repair. Her history will go on another 100 years.

I just love your videos! I think that you are one of the most interesting talented people I've ever met and never met you really! I didn't know that they made men like you. I'm sure you have worked really hard to get to where you are now. You are absolutely amazing! I love where your place is and I love the videos! I was wondering is there any way that for the water is crossing the road that something could be done and the water go to the creek instead of coming down through there? Great job on the insulation. Hope you didn't have any problem returning the window unit. Arkansan is what the citizens of Arkansas are called.
I would definitely leave the concrete floor as it is. You can use area rugs in certain areas if you want them. They are cheap and easy to replace when they get worn or dirty.

A kot of people don't see that one of the biggest jobs is moving all the tools and materials from one side to the other to work and then having to spread it out again so you can find the one tool you need that is always buried in teh bottom of the pule. LOL You did do a good job cleaning and organizing so the next phase will go faster.

People grill vegetables too. So I believe grilling anything makes all food great. Beautiful property David. Love that cabin. Working with insulation is itchy. Ive seen people use moisture barriers between ceiling and insulation. Love the videos showing your skills.
He might wind up redoing it, I grew up and live in AR and it gets very humid. Moisture control is why I gleefully shell out for moisture barriers and oversized drains for my central air conditioning systems. The furnaces are mostly because there's a spot for them in the air handling units.

Try a three foot wall across the open end of the left area. You can even put up a sound barrier across there on the 3 feet wall.
That will help you be able to do your work with less sound.

Ar cans an. But we call em Arkies c'mon. I used to be an arkie. I live in cave city Ar. For several years as a kid and Southside ar. Near Batesville AR. For several years. Greers ferry lake is a pretty cool lake and Table Rock lake. Both pretty clear from what I can remember. So so many cool little places to check out in the area. A little bus or rv for weekend trips for content would be pretty cool.
