  • The all-new BMW C 400 X and C 400 GT scooters are mid-range (350cc) high-end scooters designed for not only CBD Urban use but also to allow owners to get out of town or commute from the wider suburbs. Packed with creature comforts such as heated grips, heated seat, TFT dash, traction control, ABS and more the C 400s are extremely comfortable and easy to ride. We found out by spending a day in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, as well as commuting out of Melbourne. It was cold and wet but we still learned a lot about the C 400 X, the sportier model, and the C 400 GT, the grand tourer.

    Had a C400X for a week now and I’m really impressed. I bought it in Albury and rode it down to Melbourne on a very wet day, it’s very stable at speeds of around 115 km/h and lots of grunt to get away from lights quickly. I can also carry a pillion with ease. There’s a lack of accessories at the moment as the scooter is newly released. As I’ve often said, these should be a lot more popular in Australia than they are. A 150 bhp+ sports bike is wasted on our roads.

      Such a cool little scooter and as you say, plenty of power for open roads and super convenient in the city and suburbs. Good to hear about the pilliopn, we didn't get a chance to go two-up on it and see. Jeff.

    Nice review, just bought one of these. Surprised that they’re not more popular in Australia’s cities. Beats sitting in a traffic jam.

    Do like these scoots, considering buying one for my daily commute of a round trip of 70 miles, but worried I would miss my motorcycle??

    Question: is there anything better about the 400GT versus the 400X other than Looks? Thanks and great review.

    How would these hold up with two up highway riding?

    • @Flaminuggboot
      @Flaminuggboot Před 4 lety +2

      Not sure about 2 up, but I'm 100kgs and rode down from Albury on mine when I first bought it. They're really stable at 115+ and have enough grunt to accelerate from 110 to 130 to overtake.

      @@Flaminuggboot Hi Ed, what are the rear shocks like? I'm 100kg/195cm too and need something that won't bottom out (pun intended) over the typical bumps we find on our city roads. Thanks

      Pete Afele Hi Pete, they’re fine, I have it on the 2nd stiffest setting, the suspension hasn’t bottomed out yet

    this C400x or the Yamaha Xmax 300? 2020 versions...

      Yamaha will run forever and will be cheap to maintain. BMW falls apart after 3 years. The choice is yours.

      @@goru426 I left the Yamaha xmax 300 for the c400GT.
      Yamaha is built with Chinese components just like the BMW. I don't see your point.
      Yes you pay for the badge but with a 5 year warranty and service plan that not an issue.

      @@mickfitz76 Hopefully everything runs well with the BMW c400GT and you ride it for many years. My experience is with the C600/650GT. Those scooters developed multiple issues in the first 2-3 years of ownership and many owners were not happy.

      @@goru426 All brands have their issues. My xmax went through two starter motors in 3 years. I had to carry a screwdriver to tap the starter motor whilst holding down the start button. It was such a common issue that you waited 3 months for parts due to stock shortage.
