Law enforcement agencies have said they had "no intelligence" indicating that a group of Trump supporters would overpower police and enter the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021. But journalists and researchers who study the online far right say that's not true. In fact, the groups at the heart of the riot had been planning it for days, in plain sight, on social media -- and the signs that an event like this was imminent had been coming for years.
Reporters Logan Jaffe (ProPublica) and Robert Evans (Bellingcat) describe the warning signs they observed weeks, months, and even years before a mob of Trump supporters broke into the US Capitol building.

Ignorant, I don't know. Complicit, when not actual actors, for a good chunk of them, leading reconnaissance visits to the Capital et al, yes. The others were just blinded by their education that carves American exceptionalism deep in their brains. Some can't even fathom it could possibly happen, it's impossible! Even after it did happen. Some still talks of Biden's inauguration like it's going to put a definite end to all this, why not? That's the rule, isn't it? It's too far against everything they have been taught about their country.
Most people on the left have seen this coming. But due to the pandemic and all of the other events that have happened over here in the past 4 years most officials either brushed this off to be -âmore importantâ things. Since no one has been openly talking about white supremacy(besides colored people) those who think itâs an issue, choose to ignore it. After all there isnât much citizens can do until local and presidential election. Until election season comes, we just have to try correct supremest behavior, and avoid getting harassed cause we have the courage to correct these people.

As a dutch person this is so weird to me, the fact there are just about two parties and obviously that divides the country in two groups, that causes things like this. Obviously you always have left and right but now it's literally red against blue and these things happen.
