China's Off-Road SUV Threatens Land Rover Defender

  • China has asserted dominance across various industries globally, and this time, their focus intensifies on the automobile sector with the introduction of their latest Off-road SUV. This vehicle competes directly with renowned models such as the legendary Land Rover Defender, GMW Tank 300, and various light and heavy off-road vehicles. Aptly named the "Jetour Traveler," the vehicle aligns with its name, suggesting a robust capability for covering extensive distances.
The significance of this move lies in China's strategic entry into the competitive landscape of off-road vehicles, traditionally dominated by established names. By presenting the Jetour Traveler, China positions itself as a formidable contender, challenging the likes of the Land Rover Defender and GMW Tank 300.
The Jetour Traveler caters to drivers seeking light and normal off-road journeys, boasting a rugged yet attractive design that competes with high-end vehicles costing thousands of dollars.

I live in Australia and we have several Chinese brands of Chinese cars available. Recently, our family needed a small SUV and I researced everything including all the cheaper Chinese vehicles, Korean , Indian,Europen, USA etc ,etc. For value and quality I found the Japanese built Mitsubishi ASX/RVR was not much more in price than the lesser powerful Chinese and came with 10 year warranty, 10 year fixed priced servicing and 10 year Roadside assist. Could be more happier and its made in Japan.

Chinese manufacturers do not consider utility, longevity, or customer retention when designing products. The reason their products are cheaper is because they use inferior components and build them in unregulated, polluting factories with no regard for worker safety or environmental protections. That's why 30-year-old Land Cruisers sell for $20-30K while this "Tank" will be lucky to retain 5% of its resale value after five years- assuming it still runs. Buy cheap, buy thrice.

China doesn’t recognise, the quality isn’t there. Then consider the human rights of the people building these vehicle.
Plus the geo-politics at play. Be careful what you wish for

Lets get real, it looks awful, it will perform and drive in no way similar to the Landrover. It will most likely have a terrible residual value and no one with the budget to buy an expensive Landrover is going to be seen driving one! However if it does what you want it to do and you can’t afford a Landrover that’s fine but it’s ridiculous to even consider this a rival for Landrover other than to have a good chuckle at the embarrassing stolen design .
