China's Off-Road SUV Threatens Land Rover Defender

- China has asserted dominance across various industries globally, and this time, their focus intensifies on the automobile sector with the introduction of their latest Off-road SUV. This vehicle competes directly with renowned models such as the legendary Land Rover Defender, GMW Tank 300, and various light and heavy off-road vehicles. Aptly named the "Jetour Traveler," the vehicle aligns with its name, suggesting a robust capability for covering extensive distances.
The significance of this move lies in China's strategic entry into the competitive landscape of off-road vehicles, traditionally dominated by established names. By presenting the Jetour Traveler, China positions itself as a formidable contender, challenging the likes of the Land Rover Defender and GMW Tank 300.
The Jetour Traveler caters to drivers seeking light and normal off-road journeys, boasting a rugged yet attractive design that competes with high-end vehicles costing thousands of dollars. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
This looks brilliant, the greed of some manufacturers has gone too far.
You get what you pay for
1.5 L petrol engine in such a car? Loads of gimmicks instead of an adequate drive train.
They also have 2.0 turbo option
Excellent power train for towing 😂
i started driving landrovers when i was 8 years old and my last defender was sold three years ago at 190,000 miles ,i can no longer afford the cost of a new defender be very interested to see one of these for real ,im 68 now will to try anything
Defenders are a good vehicle, despite what these other people who probably have never had one. I have the new defender and it's a beautiful vehicle nearly 2 years old and still going strong.
@haspragge7082 it wont last like teh old ones, and cant be fixed without going back to the dealer.. such a shame .. cars are not for life anymore
@@samanthaspragge70822 years old and still going strong 🥴, sounds like you’re going to be happy if it lasts 4 years 🙈
My series 3 was brilliant but the defender is no longer the cheap universal tractor it was designed from. $200k for a Landrover is just rediculous. Thats 3x what I paid for my sports in 07.
@@samanthaspragge7082
Not 2 years old and still going strong? Amazing... I wonder if it'll get to 3?
Is there any Chinese made cars lasting 10 years plus? I honestly cannot think of any. If the majority of these cars have a life between 5 to 7 years you would be pissing your money up against a wall buying one and expecting any sort of resale.
American made craps could hardly last for six months not to mention they hardly work at all.😂😂😂😂😂
For the prices mentioned, I would certainly give it a go. They just have to keep a lid on Greedy Dealers.
Chery has a 10 year /1 million km. warranty on their engines …good enough for me
@scottcove Stop being so stupid!!! the reason why you cannot think of any Chinese made cars lasting 10 years plus is because they have only been making all these modern cars in the last five years or less!! Anyway, this is typical of the west thinking they have a monopoly on technology like cars, etc.....people like you and media in the west was saying exactly the same when the Japanese first started making their brand of cars!! But guess who is laughing now!!😂
@@brianliew5901America made anything?
where can i buy one in colombia?
Cheap looking but it will appeal to some
Landrover a money pit after warranty runs out more issues than any other vehicle
I live in Australia and we have several Chinese brands of Chinese cars available. Recently, our family needed a small SUV and I researced everything including all the cheaper Chinese vehicles, Korean , Indian,Europen, USA etc ,etc. For value and quality I found the Japanese built Mitsubishi ASX/RVR was not much more in price than the lesser powerful Chinese and came with 10 year warranty, 10 year fixed priced servicing and 10 year Roadside assist. Could be more happier and its made in Japan.
Japan is doing it to compete Chinese cars. If not China, Japan would give you 3 years warranty.
10 year warranty and 10 year servicing ??? wow.
These Chinese cars are poor imitations of the real defender despite copying design cues. They need to lead tech changes before winning electri car credibility. Cheaper but not as good as the wrong way to future credibility. On each wheel hi torque electric motor perhaps using brake discs asrotore, expensive but big lead in energy rev
Covery
Don’t ever let even you pets sit in one of this
They’ve have always been copiers of everything only lesser quality
Nothing can be lesser quality than defender
If I remember right, Defender designer was already with Chery, the owner of Jetour.
I’m a 68 yr LR driver owner of over 40 years .Currently drive an 03 Defender TD5 County 130 hi-cap . I have no plans to change to anything else as it’s the most practical vehicle ive ever owned ..yes it’s a posh tractor with 5 seats but by comparison it’s very cheap to run ..fuel aside ( nearly 30mpg) its Costs £650 a year in tax/mot and insurance + service maintenance and it’s an ongoing investment with offers well over double what I paid for.. and you don’t very many Japanese offerings of that age on the road ..Currant LR products are nice to look at but not own ..way to expensive and lose money quicker than throwing a case full of money off a cliff..and not very reliable without a technician from Starship Enterprise
Simple to repair if necessary, not overloaded with useless electronics. Perfect car.
Just bought mine ❤️
It’s a Land Rover Defender, not Range *
Strange how the Allegro was criticised by all for its quadradic steering wheel🤔 Seems the norm now on many!!!
Since South Africa is part of BRICS, this car better be available in South Africa
Can barely carry itself with that drivetrain. I wouldn’t hook up my camper and go venturing deep into the sandy Namibian desert without a Mitsubishi Pajero backup..
When is the last time you went to Namibian desert?
@@mirbilal0103 weeks ago. Then two months ago Mozambique rural and KZN farmlands. I use my 4x4 daily offroad.. daft comment.
why there an image of Pooh in your thumbnail?! did he make the car?
The other thing people want to remember one getting parts from china two the cost of parts
Chinese vehicles have steering on left. How to get one with steering on right. RHD
This is only the beginning, it will improve through time.
Beautiful what’s the company that makes jetour , or is that the company name in it self JETOUR ?
Company
chery
This video is just a copy of the sales brochure, if you didn’t drive it how can you claim it threatens the Land Rover ?
LAND ROVER most unreliable 4X4 BY FAR
One question. Would you buy a car from this sales person? Course not! So gushing, so insincere, so awful!
Thus this exists in RHD?
The lines of Jetour reminds me the JEEP
Competition is always good. The buyer can decide what to buy. Government mandated market interference is monopolistic.
it is this sort of thing that propels the " Decouple China " policy. lol
Show me what of lasting quality they ever made. Let's discuss it in 2054.
There seems to be a constant problem with parts from china steer well clear
good news is they are not exporting to north america
keep it up
I wonder how many other manufacturers intellectual property rights & patents have been stolen this time?
how is that possible when china has 10 years ev technology in advance compared to the rest?
@@torelloBank Yeah right.
@@jonathanhicks140google it, unlike you my source is not:''trust me bro''
@@jonathanhicks140look it up on google news and other tech news on youtube or google it and search for EV china tech.
Once upon a time the USA held the most patents in the world ,China has far overtaken the registration of patents and is the intellectual property owner that all other nations especially the USA try to emulate (steal)
Are you serious!!! You didn't even drive it!!!! COME ON
Hi guys, wow looks fantastic. I don’t understand why the Chinese builders don’t put a decent size motor/engine 2 L are just too small for Australia. Specially if you’re going to tow something
No mention of a low range gear box.
Total pile of crap. What about the chassis and drive train?
It might be more reliable 😂
Couldn’t be much worse
Yeah, land rover's reliability is crap!
Competing for the heap of s(manure) title?
How long is the warranty against corrosion?
How long is Land Rovers warranty on snapped crankshafts ?
These Chinese are on fire 🔥
It looks very good, but the best business strategy here is the choice of combustion engine or electric. When a manufacturer gives you that choice when you are standing in their showroom, that is the real win here and will be a game changer. Traditional car manufacturers look and learn, or you will ceases to exist.
Looks good, but in south Africa it wil cost more than 600 000,, making it to expensive for most
Whoa😮 that’s a lot of truck for very little muller 👍
It's like a range rover defender
With that choice of engines?
Land Rover, who make the Defender, the Discovery and the Range Rover
❤ welcome 🎉
Are we going down a electronic nightmare road with a car that has everything. The modern car does not make engineering common sense. The consumer is crying out for a simple basic car that does what it is designed to do, transport us from A to B with no problems.
I really don’t know how on a legal standpoint they get away with this blatant copying of patented rights ?
Chery makes Land Rover vehicles in China. For example, Land Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport, Jaguar XEL XFL, etc. (I will use translation software to answer you)
Because Chinese courts weirdly enough always find in favour of Chinese companies.
Looks good
@@TV-it6gsmanufacturing whisked does not allow you to copy designs. Thievery runs deep in your blood.
From what I understand a shopping trolley would be a threat to a Land Rover Defender
You understand too that kid toys are a big threat to Tesla model 3.
Wow I can get 3 of these for the price of a defender
I boycott, as many Chinese products as I possibly can…….. and I definitely would not buy one of these in preference to a Land Rover Defender !!!
That 1.5 L and 2 L engines are absolute jokes. !
You get what you pay for.
The depreciation on this China-made vehicle will be precipitous.
Will there be a dealer network to support maintenance of this vehicle?
It looks like another disposable vehicle that won't be economic to repair in the event of an accident, unless you have finance on it, i.e. its book value will be the loan value and not its actual market value, which will be a lot less.
Did you really say "Porsch-EEE"? Who the F says it like that?
Dreaming
At least the less privilege we can afford to buy luxurious vehicles from the Chinese
What's luxurious about this car? A no-name underpowered Chinese wannabe.
Impressive 👍👍
Won't sell. Will get caught at the ship yards and turned back
Land Rover is owned by Tata India. Asia is the new motorized vehicle manufacturing powerhouses. German and American vehicles are priced out of the market
this is the mini hooper. :)
When does it arrive in Australia?
Never, it will fall apart during transport 😂😂
It’s never a good sign when the bonnet isn’t the first thing to be opened
All of what you are showing me is fluff and quite frankly not needed
It just needs to be solid, work and do 200km without a problem
Then I’ll trade it in
I don’t see this vehicle doing any of that
Is it coming to the uk ?
Hope not 🤞
Competes more directly with Mitsubishi. Top end needs kids TV in back of front seats and permanent 4 wheel drive not a toy front wheel drive with on demand switch. In fact you need a motor on each wheel to lead next gen 4wd. Good luck but keep it very cheap until developed further.
They say 75% of Landrovers built since 1947 are still around . I wonder if these will be able to make that claim . 2 litres and 1.5 seems extremely underpowered for such a large vehicle . Are they diesel . Ill give them a chance but I have my doubts
Won't be hard it'll be built better by people that can be bothered doing their jobs
Waiting time approx 6 months
Advert much?
Mmmmm designed by a German designer that copied the new defender????
If priced correctly ie to temp buyers away from mainline brands , this would sell like hot cakes in the UK , JLR would be worried !
All show No go.?
1.5L & 2.0L ....
competes with Land Rover Defender
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's still made in china. I personally try my best not to buy anything that's made in china(especailly if its originally chinese companies not oem) if it's related to safety and health of myself and my loved ones.
Beating, really? I would like to see such a vehicle in real terrain on rock, mud etc. to see if this statement is true 😉 Marketing videos can tell a lot of stories ...
Distinct body shape, you said?
Amazing achievement by Cherry Automotive! Design is superior to the new 2024 Land Cruiser Prado. If only it had a 3rd row seating.
Let’s see the service backup and full spec on weights.
If it’s anything like the tank which lifts rear wheels under heavy braking and can only tow a garden trailer should be great thing for soccer mums.
Looks great but let’s see there actual spec and execution on service agent. So far Cherry is low on these factors.
The over air updates great for spying on you and anything connected to vehicle or home wifi. No technical weight spec, fuel range, towing, GVM etc.
Looks great but may have no actual 4WD capacity for family. Might be soccer mum car.
Some of these Chinese 4WD in market have no GVM for family + luggage and are limited to towing garden trailer.
These don’t work for family on holiday if you taking a camper off-road.
This is no we’re near the new Toyota Prado for capability even the current model has great capability. Electronics doesn’t assist in reliability off-road example defender reliability.
if you have good money buy what you know. so i buy land rover for now... they have problems which are known. buy cheap buy twice. imo
You go offroad the underchasi will bend or suspension control arm come off haha its like their byd
style you can not copy
wow very nice thin Japan cars
Shameless design theft
Without intellectual property rights ..they can copy pretty much anything ..and sell is as their own design with minor modifications
total rip off of the Defender, wow.
They needed a famous designer to copy another manufacturers car! As with most Chinese products it will end up having a poor lifespan with no resale value.
I would like to know how China was able to put a rover on mars first attempt and build a space station also first attempt. Underestimate 🇨🇳@ your peril 🇮🇪
Just like all the household appliances in your house…
About the same as a Land Rover then.
Land Rover is one of the worst reliable vehicles on the road - people (mechanics) say !!!
I would buy one of these over the Defender - when does it arrive in Australia?
Nope the facial recognition....did me knowing what China are up to.... keep it.
Sorry is fueled .spoketoo soon😊
Chinese manufacturers do not consider utility, longevity, or customer retention when designing products. The reason their products are cheaper is because they use inferior components and build them in unregulated, polluting factories with no regard for worker safety or environmental protections. That's why 30-year-old Land Cruisers sell for $20-30K while this "Tank" will be lucky to retain 5% of its resale value after five years- assuming it still runs. Buy cheap, buy thrice.
now, that's a made in china i will buy😎
Chinese tat
Parking in Paris 18.-€/h, hahaha
26mpg for a 1500cc ??
When it keeps bringing landrover up, u
You know they stole key elements and made them out of Chineseuim
I don't have to watch this to know it's a joke!
Not enough grunt.
Low torque Low Power.
Does not compete.
I live in Europe so I only buy european cars...
Avoid anything Chinese if possible
It’s how much you pay. You can’t afford those cars
China doesn’t recognise, the quality isn’t there. Then consider the human rights of the people building these vehicle.
Plus the geo-politics at play. Be careful what you wish for
Yellow lemon
Another piece of overpriced metal.
Lets get real, it looks awful, it will perform and drive in no way similar to the Landrover. It will most likely have a terrible residual value and no one with the budget to buy an expensive Landrover is going to be seen driving one! However if it does what you want it to do and you can’t afford a Landrover that’s fine but it’s ridiculous to even consider this a rival for Landrover other than to have a good chuckle at the embarrassing stolen design .
