I remember seeing him on either Stephen Colbert or Seth Meyers, probably around that time, and I think his message to her was basically "Be careful what you wish for"...
I never really liked her but the final straw were the pictures showing her sticking her tongue out at people, in public, knowing they would show up in newspapers.

Well, his show is written by his writers. Also funny, of course, but here it‘s his real self, unscripted. And he‘s STILL funny.
The greatest thing about John and Last Week Tonight is that his shows are thoroughly researched and illuminate the fine details of so many issues in a way that few sources are able to. That way, when he jokes about something, his truthfulness carries weight that makes it even funnier. He's the greatest British import to this country since Monty Python.

I just wanna say that Jimmy is not wrong about the role satirists like John Oliver play during times of great political upheaval. There was no way to take the news daily back during Trump, they really softened the blows.
I read somewhere that this is what court jesters did back in the day. They made observations about life and sometimes broke bad news to monarchs in a humorous manner to make it more palatable tp hear.
There were days where Oliver, Colbert, and Trevor Noah were the only news I could watch.

In fact in pretty much any constitutional monarchy the royal house should change slower than the populace. Their purpose is stabilising, and unifying. If you can’t do the job, step down and shut up.

I like to think in terms of having read the Bible. If you read it as a child, and that's the only time you've read it, you interpret it from a child's store of limited knowledge of the world.
However, if you read it in your teens, twenties, thirties, etc, your understanding should change. Mine started changing when I attended a college of a different religion that I grew up in, and was required to take a History of the Bible class. Not only did I interpret for my then-experience of being a 20 year old student, I then realized the danger of assuming all Christian religions interpreted the Bible the same way.
