So sometimes I was actually studying an additional 7-8 hours after school. Oh and the competitiveness…. In my country it is almost impossible to be a doctor if you are not top 1%. I don’t know why either cuz doctors are working insane hours and engineering pays got so much better in my country that you can earn the same money with much less work anyways. (I live in Japan now, engineering is great for job hunting in Japan as well, I am just glad I did not do what my parents wanted in the end)

I really hope you get it, just be aware of that some people are so poisonous that a line like that will be a trap gift that will harm you. Hopefully your parents are nothing like that at all, but even then be careful of how and why other people give praise. Many give them because they are just simply happy, some give them as a trap to ensnare you with and emotionally blackmail you.
