You need the factory air box to create proper vacuum for the carburetors to work.

Did you replace the carb diaphrams? My 750 back in the day went like this. Carb diaphrams replaced, back to normal.

Yes, they were.
Later had found the problem. It was timing.

Are you running the standard air box?

Yes. We did try to run without it as well, or without filter too.

We did check only the fuel pump, but was not that the problem.
