- Well, Josh blew the engine on his NC Mazda MX5 and it was time to get a fresh engine in. Can he swap an engine in the MX5 in less than 24hrs? Also, Dave gets a proper look around the team’s brand new drift car, his new V8 1UZ S14 Silvia 240sx and sheds some light on future plans and engine swaps.

Thanks, Dave for actually telling it how it is... so many CZcamsrs these days are putting 50k+ into their builds and never really disclose how much it costs, what parts are sponsored, etc... this has then set a weird expectation on "normal" car people...
I love the idea of keep the 1UZ and doing a tune with ITB’s. Its already an interesting engine for that car and lately ive been really into Silvias with NA ITB setups. Those things make the coolest sounds. And a flaky paint for the hood is another good idea, i like that you mentioned early D1 cars as an inspo for that. I think it could work super well.

1UZ with 3UZ heads and ITBs. 3uZ heads supposedly flow better and i think they have VVT or VVL. Alternatively, a twinscrew (lysholm) supercharger mounted up top would be amazing. Either way I'm in for some rowdy 1uz tuning. If you can find some of those classic 90s all-white tail lights I think it would look great, if not then just keep the ones that are on it. For the bonnet, do a sparkly silver or white with a HEAVY bass-boat iridescent rainbow flake in it. REALLY run away with it.
Ganadors and a carbon hood to play off the black on the wheels and interior. Bring it all together and keep it proper. :)
The ITB set up would definitely be unique and if I'm honest but the DS05 would suit that car better than the FC RX7. The origin lab underskirts are a life saver but speak with LZ about how he does his underskirts might be a better option.

I think the sparkle silver would look awesome on the whole top half of the car. Hood, roof, trunk and maybe the window pillars along with the chrome tail lights and some really nice silver wheels. I think that would look really cool and bring the whole car together 👍🤘🍻
Phoenix engine management make awesome wire Looms for 1uz and they are plug and play for link ECU! Supercharger out of the bonnet would be cool
S14 is already uniq and wild, it is oke if you want to replace the wheels or bonet.. but for the drivetrain, 1UZ with ITB n equal lenght header and straight pipe exhaust will sound insane

That V8 sounds amazing. Definitely keep it, and throw in the Link ECU with ITB's like you said. Perhaps equal length headers? How about putting your new Strom wheels on (black version) with carbon hood? Had a good laugh at Josh - has access to all the oil he needs, yet doesn't use it haha. Good job on getting it out and the other one fitted and started though!

If you keep the wheels you have I highly suggest painting the centers the same red as the car, if you can find the color code, and then add black to the clear coat so at the right angle they almost look like black centers then boom a nice subtle touch of red. For the lips a matte or high gloss bronze. Engine bay, trying to fit a turbo in there may get difficult and hot, itbs would be dope but why not a positive displacement supercharger. Strong and reliable power and makes good noises.

Silver flake bonnet and high revving UZ (different cams to have 8500+ with additional power) with ITBs, UZ can be build not that expensive for high revs. That would be cool.

Wrap the hood something cool, idk I like camo but w/e is cool over there. Gold or Chrome might look interesting LOL kinda the opposite of a race car where they paint the hood black for glare.

Ive a fd rx7 with 1uz on ITBs and MS3 management. It sounds amazing. The ITBs are an absolute pain to fit. Def not a 2 min bolt on job. And its an a*se setting the TPS with them.

I think as far as the hood goes try and color match it! I think that will be the classiest look. A good painter will be able to get it very, very close. Totally agree on full chrome on the wheels too. I think a set of big lip full chrome/ polished Work Meister S1’s would be even more of a proper look. Just an idea (:
You can get an intercooled, Harrop HTV2300 supercharger for that 1UZ for $6500US. Throw some rods and pistons in it, fuel system, and boom. You're making an extremely reliable 550 wheel for less than 10 grand. If you ported the heads you could probably get close to 700 out of it, at the same boost level it would require to make 500-550 on stock heads

Three storage lifts along that back wall and move the existing lifts into the middle of the shed. Would get six cars along the back wall. I'm sure some lift company would work with you. Plus lifts can be taken with you. S14 I'd super charge throttle bodies are class for making noise, but superchargers sound well, will make decent power and probably cost around the same. Thanks for the content boys.
