    I really want to love this game. It has everything I have ever asked for in a 4X Space game. But the moment I hit mid game and I am flooded with notifications every turn, my brain just gives up and I bounce off it.

      @@dadnar7615 Yeah, it becomes worse as the game progresses.
      When you get several races in, then you can get a lot of micromanaging in controlling population growth, and sending them to where they are most useful.
      And again with the perfect negotiations -technology, there is a lot of trial and error in figuring out the best deals to make with the others.

    Where it gets another layer of depth when you start creating your own species designs with mixing attributes of different vanilla species. There are a few quirky and a few super potent playstyles possible. The different DLCs only add to creating unique builds in my opinion.
    The one beeg i always had with this series is that there is not really a way to take activly part in the battles, you have your ships outfitted, choose a card that may vary depending on what you find or research, but overall when you settle on a strategy card and shipbuilds that may have a symbiotic effect with those cards you never really have a reason to switch it up again aslong even more so after stomping an enemy the first time and then not getting much of a cosolidated effort of defenses anymore but the enemy often only sending ships they just built to die at the frontlines. instead of strategicly holding back till they have a relevant force even though that may mean they loose a few systems.
    So basicly you try to get ahead in science and/or production and aslong you then manage to take fights where you win more than you loose there is hardly a chance to loose this game. Higher difficulty levels only mean that the NPC has cheated more available ressources not that they are actually better in their decision tree.
    Still from atmosphere, species creation, economy management and overall UI this game is fantastic. If you haven't tried yet, also have a look at Endless Legend which i find even better.

    2:09:48 - You can click on the Free Camera button, then select either one of your ships, or one of the enemy's, and rotate the camera so you can see the other side. Then you can get a great view of the action and see what's going on. The cinematic Auto-Camera mode keeps switching between ships, and you never get a view of the overall battle.

    2:08:55 - When you look at this screen, you'll notice the three rows of lines on each of your tactics cards. Each of these rows is a lane. At this timestamp, you only have enough ships for one lane, which is the middle lane shown in white, while the other two are greyed out. Each lane is divided into three parts, representing long, medium, and short range. The segment highlighted is the range your ships will try to stay in the longest if you choose that tactic. If you have short range weapons, such as autocannons, then you will greatly benefit from picking a card that races your ships straight into short range ASAP. On the other side of things, you can hover your cursor over each of the enemy ships to get a good idea of whether they are using long, short, or medium weapons. You can also see if they're using projectile or energy weapons. You can use that information to help you decide on a tactic as well. To simplify things, you can click on each of your tactics and see how full the circle is around your flotilla on the left. The tactic that fills it up the most is the best one for the current engagement. When you have enough ships for multiple lanes, then you will have two or three circles on the left; a flotilla for each lane.
    If you play enough to become accustomed, you can design your ships to align with specific tactics cards. While the battles are automatic, I've found it's very valuable to watch them and see how the ships react to the tactic you chose. Also, if you use torpedoes, you can only see how many of them are getting shot down by watching the battles. If two of your four torpedoes are getting shot down, then you're only doing half as much damage as the ship designer tells you.

    A bit sad you said it's like Humankind (4x civ like) in space when they also released Endless Legend, which is actually in the same universe as Endless Space and it's a 4x game like civ but with fantasy elements.

    This game always felt a bit soulless.
    Endless Legend still seems to be the Amplitude sweet spot.

    • @mendora5547
      @mendora5547 Před měsícem

      Yea, I have play Amplitude's game ever since their Kickstarter day with the very first Endless space and the conclusion that I ultimately come to is this : They have probably the most beautiful visual and music of any video games in the market but ultimately lack any kind of substance (aka. soulless) the battle system are absolutely bland in Endless space and more annoying than fun in Humankind. The lore are actually really good but the writing suck so much that it sore the narrative and immersion, and the way faction and every components are represent make everything basically the same. (like Endless space's hero are all the same regardless of faction and backstories.)
      The only odd one out is Endless Legend. That game have fun game play, interesting mechanic that resulted in every faction actually play different in a very significant way, have decent writing, very interesting world map (crazy how a 10 yrs old game have overall more interesting 4x than Humankind.) and even if Legend's heroes are still basically the same, able to customize them actually manage to gave them distinct feel of personality.
      The first endless dungeon game was good too, but I don't feel like that game count.

    It's not a hard game, it's just not a good game, I've tried enough 4X games, even Stardrive for a long time, and I still think it beats GalCiv etc but it rlly isn't a "good" game, Endless Legend was far superior imo.
