- Most people don't hear certain high pitch frequencies, but some of us are able to pick up on sounds that animals would hear. Do you have better than average hearing? It's time to put your ears to the test in today's video where we dive into different sound frequencies in our world.

Hαykαl making volume higher wonât change the frequency that makes no sense itâs whether ur ears can process them to begin with
@@abtin9897 Wrong, tuning the volume up allowed me to hear the 18000Hz one, with the usual volume I watch YT videos it was too faint. Can't hear 20000Hz no matter what though. Even on some other hearing tests. Looks like my natural or mechanical limit is around 18.2KHz on left ear and about 17.3KHz on the right ear after doing a few tests here and there. Kinda makes sense since when I use my phone or a blueetooth earpiece it's always on the right ear since I'm a righty and the bluetooth device is right-ear only... I'm 32 years old though so my results are ok I guess. The gap between my two ears is a bit worrying though, gotta be more careful.

several years ago i woke up one morning with people talking faintly outside my window. But i live on the 4th floor in a beachfront condo. it was absolutely still that morning, no wind at all, no waves at all, 6am no traffic at all. the people i heard talking (and i could understand what they were saying) were out on the pier about a thousand feet from my window. human hearing is amazing. i remember reading also that in total blackness a human eye could detect a match being struck 50 miles away. the human body is really incredible.

That is not fair. When conducting a frequency test, it is supposed to be absolutely quiet. There were many other sounds around, like your voice and the continuous playing of the music in the background.
If you can't hear above 17k then. It's not your fault . CZcams don't allow frequencies above 17k .

people the reason you cant hear the last ones is because of youtube sound limit! you cannot play i think 1500hz or more
Nope not true. My smaller sister who is 8 yrs old can hear it. So it voids your point!
i was able to hear the 17,400 and 18k ones just not the 20k one. Although I was really hoping that I would be able to hear that very last one so i could say i was special lol
Its true I have 600% more volume extension and I put it on max volume plus I'm 11 and heard nothing
Most of these frequencies generated a subtone I could clearly hear despite the fact I can't hear the higher frequency being played back. I suspect it's part on how youtube compresses audio.

Yes, I can't contrecate!

I'm 70, and the first one I could not hear was 17,400. I swear, my mother could hear a whisper in a third story attic from the first floor when she was 85!
CZcams changes things when it compresses the videos, that's probably why 15KHz sounded _lower_ and quieter than 12KHz.
And why did you go up to 15KHz, but then down to 14.4KHz? Did you get those two clips backwards? đ€š
Make this comment the top one and let everybody know that everyone voted yes for the "i can hear anything abouve 15KHz" poll was just lying.

hi cat
I just turned 30 and can still hear the test tones in this video up to 17.5khz when I shouldn't be able to. I think the reason why is because I am a musician with a home studio and have been producing and mixing my own music for over 15 years, so I have trained my ears to continue to be able to recognize these very high and low frequencies well through my 20s and into my 30s
The 14400hz tone hurt my ears a little bit because I have mild tinnitus from years of playing and listening to really loud music as a musician (my ears only ring occasionally and it goes away in under 30 secs) and that tone is the exact tone that i hear when my tinnitus flares up and my ears start to ring!
42...heard that one too đ
My hearing is incredible. Not based on this test but on the fact that I can hear conversations 20m and more from where I'm standing. This got me into trouble many times at work. I would what people talk about on the floor above me or boardroom meetings.

I heard from a friend of mine that the "age related hearing loss" belief might be a bit flawed. It might not be caused by age but more so the constant bombardment of sounds that are above the levels with which our ears were evolved for. Headphones, earbuds concerts and many more (including parents yelling at their kids) that play constant-and also very loud-sounds throughout the day can cause scarring on the ears, even if the sounds over headphones don't sound loud-the fact that they are so close to your ears-actually puts it at around the volume of a 110 through even 150 DB but it doesn't sound like it is that loud.
I searched for videos like this after hearing a mosquito buzzing by my ear. I then felt it's bite on the back of my hand. It escaped before I could smack it. I heard the 15,000 hertz test. I'm 62 years. Thank you Lord.
I think there is a maximum of 16000 hz that a video uploaded on CZcams can reach. Iâm saying cause I have researched other videos like this that people used tools that said after 16k there is literally nothing in the video audio. At 41 I was able to hear the 17,400. I could not hear the 18,000 or higher. This is all very interesting to me because I can hear frequencies given off by certain electronics like televisions when they are on but nothing is playing (black screen, no cable or firestick, etc. Playing). It annoys me and I've always wondered why my husband can't hear it. I've also noticed certain car sound systems are annoying to me because they sound way too high pitched.
so how did the guy editing the sound know the hertz sound was even playing?
The sound waves on the editing program.
@Frednoxy Omega Because computers are designed to pick it up

yep
regarding this video, i should tell viewers to make sure the speakers on their computer point directly toward their ears. high frequency sound waves travel straight out from speakers whereas bass frequencies travel out much wider. so take this test again with speakers directly pointed at your ears and actually turn your head so the ear points at the speaker for a real test. then turn the other way to test the other ear.
