I’ve been flying since I was 14, I forced my parents to incentivize higher education for myself during high-school (it was obviously necessary). My mind is fastidiously devoted to becoming an astronaut, wether it be for exploration, science, or both. Mark my words, I will do what I put my mind to.

I'm aware other people have it worse, but it really hurts to know I'm more than capable of passing all the tests in selection only to be told I'm worthless because of how I was born.

Never let anybody tell you that you can't do something. If you want to become an astronaut, go for it. The very fact that the space industry is expanding and that there are new people becoming astronauts goes to show that it is perfectly possible. It may be difficult, it may be long, it may be unlikely, but its not impossible. Never give up.

Although before you applicate or even in training, you can improve your physical status, but some people are more vulnerable to overweight due to their DNA. Overweight can cause blood pressure problems it's likely that a such person would never even reach space, it would die during flight.
I say it because it's important. I'm not trying to convince anyone to give up or stop trying.

I wanted to be an astronaut since I was small. I would look at the stars and try to spot satellites, I would dream about being in space, and I took every science and space related class I could. It crushed me when I found out that I physically can't be an astronaut, I have scoliosis and can't handle the physical demands.
You could still put your knowledge to good use and become an astrophysicist, astronomer, etc. And some of these careers are even more important than being an astronaut. But if you only wanted the thrill, you were never cut out to be an astronaut to begin with.

I wasn't very interested in becoming an astronaut but I feel the need to become one purely out of spite. Thanks for the motivation!
Looking at this all at once, becoming an astronaut is basically impossible, but when you look at it piece by piece, it’s much more manageable. For me, it’s not something I see realistically happening, but I’m still going to take steps I was already considering just to give myself a shot. I’m gonna get a technical degree, like in compsci but definitely in stem, and then I’m gonna attempt to become a pilot for the navy or the Air Force. If that’s as far as I go, it will have been a success, as that is a more exciting life than I ever expected to have. But if fate allows me to take my ambitions further, then maybe I’ll try to go to space. Maybe I’ll do politics. Maybe I’ll start a business. The point is, we have to take things one step at a time.

Some people need their “dreams†crushed. Why? People need to be more realistic about their abilities and what they can accomplish. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid and a famous guitarist, a guitar playing astronaut in space. Then I grew up and decided to go to law school instead. I’m a lot happier now. When I realized I had a better chance of making it through law school than being an astronaut and musician, my outlook on life changed.
